i think hitting a bag regularly will still make you hit harder aslong as you do it correctly, like the absolute basics of jab/hook. but its not a true substitute, what makes you fight well is sparring, not just knowing what to do but when to do it and how, and especially the awareness of range and drilled reactions/instincts, not flinching when getting a fist thrown at you, etc. there is no substitute for sparring.
that being said if you really want to i think you should do elbow slams and knees on a heavybag if you really want to as they're somewhat intuitive and won't teach you bad habits that need unlearning if you ever want to dive in actual fighting.
Training alone will integrate bad habits and tells, which will be very hard to undo. Practice doesn't make perfect; it makes it permanent. These exercises are pretty good for building the cardio needed to fight since most untrained people usually gas out by the first half of the round.
When they throw knees and elbows untrained, most people end up leaving the face wide open since they are prone to big "waving" motions as they strike and recover. They also don't have the understanding of timing and distance to close the distance effectively while defending. They fare even worse in the clinch and usually freeze up as knees push them in.

I've done a lot of sparring and have realized it's all a waste. I'm rich and don't spend time in the ghetto and have never been in a street fight. The only way I'm getting into a street fight is if I actually think my safety is in danger and odds are the other guy has a gun in that case.
Ask yourself why you want to substitute one thing for another. Most likely it is because you are afraid or poor, not because the alternative is better. This goes for all the morons jumping through mental hoops to justify why they're so against <insert basic ass lift here>.
100 sword step & swings a day on both sides get a broomstick handle and some gloves to protect from splinters. Easy way to get fit and strong enough for fighting.
Swinging a club/mace a staff or a training sword would make you more fit and ready for fighting, they use the same muscles as striking and wrestling do.
It looks like decent cardio but if you're going to be hitting a heavy bag you should really go take a month of boxing lessons and learn to throw a punch. You risk injuring yourself if you don't know the correct way to do it and you don't want to risk fricking up your hands

I’ve done 6 months of boxing. I know the stances I just cbf going to classes cause it’s awkward and I don’t like sparring.
sparring is the only thing that is going to get you to improve, and there's no way around that all the drills in the world won't mean shit if you cant apply them in a real situation under pressure
why don't you like sparring? i dont box but I figured its gotta be fun to get in a ring and throw some punches right? or is it really tiring and cardio heavy?
lmao, knees to the ribs are pretty bad, too possibly worse since if they get bruised or broken, it can be like a week to a month for them to heal, and every breath hurts.

wait until you hear about what a well placed bodyshot would do to your body
So wtf so I do? I either don’t train and be less of man than my peers or train and become busted over time while having a slim chance of ever being in a real fight.

Sparring shouldn’t be hard enough where you are slugging people in the face too hard, a lot of it should be technical, sometimes one slips in that you should have taken a little mustard off of
If I filled a burlap (or some equivalent) sack with sand and hanged it up would that be an ok punching bag replacement? Asking because I am too cheap to buy a real one.
>BRO WHAT IF PRETEND AGAISNT A STILL ENEMY!!! LOL SO HARDCUUURRRR
Unless you live in a shit world country like Spain, Sweden or a similarly homosexual country, there is no way you can't find a sparring gym.
Who the frick is actually going to sprint a half a mile multiple times
Do they know what sprinting is
800m runs for time. Same thing.

Personally I just punch trees and rocks because I'm not some homosexual that need to by a pussy bag and install a hook for it
Enjoy breaking your hands eventually if you already haven't, moron.

I don't have a bag, but I do have a pair of weighted gloves that may serve as a padding.
Can I punch concrete walls instead?
