ah man, I joined around this time when they were all posting. Lifting stories, fat people hate used to be fat people stories, general feelposting, everyone was trolling everyone else into running SS and eating oats 24/7, manlet had just been invented.

      The good days.

I first started posting on IST back in the summer of 2011. Pretty sure no one of note from the bodybuilding.com forums posts on IST anymore. Pretty sad.

always was, and always will be my goal physique. If I remember he did road construction or concrete construction or something like that, and had a really simple compound focused routine.

To be fair, if you're a DYEL this'll do you just fine for two years or more.

I’d wager that the overwhelming majority of IST posters that actually got fit started from fat not skelly.

That tracks, I was certainly a chonk. I did 2500 calories a day, most meals were a 50/25/25% split between lean meat/beans/greens, and I did SS + incline press and lat raises, and I was satisfied with the results.

He was a uni student at the time and wasn't interested in doing a bro-split just lifting heavy. Iirc he only posted one time and was asking about how keep the consistency training and don't slip.

An absolute cesspit, son. No matter who you were or what your actual goals were in fitness and in life, an insular clique of powerlifter-fanboy elitists would insist that you NEED to do low-bar squats and get fat and then and only then were you to revisit your actual goals later (never). The knowledge-base beneath all discourse was shallow and one-dimensional and every attempt to expand it with something interesting or useful was invariably shot down by fat, autistic slobs with superiority complexes. The singular saving grace was the self-deprecating humor that these people used to have about their condition - but it still took ten years of laughing at themselves before it occurred to those idiots that maybe it really was funny because it was true and something should change.

yes it was truly horrible that people were told to learn actual lifts and stay in a caloric surplus, wiry brown dyels screeching about looksmaxxing for a whiff of the stinkiest fungi infected pussy is much better content

IST today is what it was back then, but we had feels threads back then, which were actually good. Apparently these days mental health threads don’t fall under “fitness” anymore.
