Disadvantage? More like additional room to grow
Tall guys have a way harder time getting into position and a much higher ROM to go through
>crying about an exercise being difficult
only women think like this
that must be why the deadlift record holders are all manlets like Eddie Hall and Hafthor
Of course tall men can lift more but it is more physically taxing on a tall mans back
then that’s not a disadvantage you fricking morons
Manlets are much stronger in relation to their weight, you just don't understand all the nuances to strength and weightlifting.
Stefi Cohen, a female powerlifter, is one of the strongest humans in the world, she only does a 202kg squat, but she only weighs 114 lbs.
>202kg squat
kek, i cant weight to see the ROM
She does super wide sumo, ROM is like 2" on a good day lmao.
Strength in relation to weight doesn’t work both ways
Yes being a fat frick makes an impressive lift less impressive
But being skinny does not make a shit lift impressive
>But being skinny does not make a shit lift impressive
Let me see you deadlift 4 times your bodyweight.
Wow bro ants are so strong, whenever I see an ant in public I cover my head in shame for the sheer mogging. After all they can ohp a leaf that is 60x heavier than them!
This but unironically
Yeah well I can ohp thousands of leaves at once. So suck on that stupid ant
Yes, but the strength to weight ratio only matters in calisthenics and acrobatics, why should it matter in lifting weights? 100 kg is always 100 kg, no matter how much you weigh. This applies to function real world strength as well - a heavy box won't just magically weigh less just because you're a manlet.
Yeah it’s a moronic cope
It’s like being a manlet and saying “well im shit at basketball but inch for inch I’m almost as good at Lebron :]”
Hey, same thought, lmao
Angel number trips
Yeah I’m thinking we’re gonna make it
Hafthor cannot deadlift 4 times his bodyweight, that's the issue.
By your logic, short basketball players should get additional points because they have a better per inch performance, lol.
but why would “deadlifting 4 times your bodyweight” matter? Who the frick cares? In the sport he plays what matters is lifting heavier objects than the other guys do. It’s like saying “well was Wayne Gretzky really even that good? He never fought so he was probably trash”. He’s a HOCKEY PLAYER, you can’t judge him based on his ability to THROW A PUNCH
the more you weigh, the more you can pick up
Doesn't mean that they have an easier time biomechanically
Eddie Hall is 6'1 so technically a manlet
He's 6'3'', lol
Celebheights
Not natty, don't care. I'm sure a fricking gorilla could out-lift me but why would I compare myself to non-humans?
Yeah. And I thank God for allowing me to move the weight further.
Almost 6’5” (1.95m) here. I am going to get a trap bar soon and just do a bunch of trap bar deadlifts.
can't you guys just let manlets have one thing that doesnt even matter in the end
why is the world record set by a man way over 6 feet then ? checkmate weakgay
All the top deadlifters are around 2m tall. I think you're just a
Stop coping. The strongest deadlifter in the world is over 7 foot for a reason.
They are strong despite their proportional disadvantage
>professional basketball players are tall because it’s naturally advantageous
>professional quarterbacks are tall because it’s naturally advantageous
>professional nascar drivers and pilots are short because it’s naturally advantageous
>professional deadlift are tall but it’s actually a disadvantage, it’s just a coincidence that no short power lifter has the record
lmao
Being tall is superior for deadlifting high numbers
But it is inferior for deadlifting safely
The taller you are the more dangerous it becomes
Do you understand now
If you posted a picture of Brian Shaw’s deadlift form on here, and used deepfake technology to change his face, everyone would respond with le snap city
you lost, it’s time to stop coping and shut up now because I don’t care what you think or say
I’m not that anon I’m just explaining the issue with deadlifting as a tall guy. We have the mechanical advantage but it’s hard for us to get into proper form. This is why even though Eddie hall, Brian Shaw, halfthor, etc are all amazing deadlifters, their form looks janky as frick
Yes but with a bit more glute emphasis
Their form is janky cause they have massive guts
Hafthors form was even more fricked up before he bloatmaxxed
lol wtf
Yes
His form is the most deranged dangerous shit I’ve seen and yet he’s 20 years old pulling more than anyone in this thread will in their lives
This is the nature of deadlifting as a tall as frick guy. I’m only 6’1 so it’s not to the same degree for me. But the taller you are, the better your leverages are but the harder it is to do safely. No short guy ever hurts himself deadlifting, it’s always a tall guy getting hurt from it.
The moron can't even take 2 seconds to align his feet and hands properly? That was just stupid.
He went from basketball player to strongman in only a few years so he probably hadn't locked in his technique. Ego lifting is a quick way to get hurt.
Wrong. As people get taller their limbs get proportionally longer. Longer limbs will give better leverages for deadlift because the hips end up closer to lock out from the start. Im a manlet and i love deadlift but its def harder for us.
You don’t know shit because as you said, you’re a manlet. So you don’t know what it’s like to be tall. We talk people, have been manlets before. We know what it’s like to be shorter. Just shut up and it will be ok
Last time my height was manlet tier I was like 12, lmao (I was 6'3'' at age 13, then stopped growing). I barely remember it, let alone ever tried lifting heavy weights when I was that height.
Clown, Hafthor is not over 7 feet he's 6'9"
roider subhuman
Nothing really wrong with roiding to be one of the best in the world at what you do
The sad thing is roiding to be mediocre [which is 99% of roiders]
Cope
roided so hard he got brain damaged
Hafthor is 6'8", with relatively long arms and roided to hell
I'm the same height as him with short arms and deadlifts are my worst lift. My row and overhead press are extraordinarily high though
Try sumo
Will sumo deadlift target the same muscles?
Not with exactly the same ratios but a balanced routine should cover up any little differences. If you're not competing in anything just do what's comfortable or what you like.
I'm 6' with a 6'4" wingspan. I have freak arms that hang down to my side but I can deadlift like a fricking champ. Can't bench or press competitively for shit but I compensate.
Whether you are at a disadvantage depends on your relative proportions, not your absolute height. If you're 6'4' with short legs, a short torso, and long arms, you'll be a deadlift God.
It’s not about being tall it’s about body proportions.
A 5‘9 manlet like me with long femurs, shorter torso and arms will have harder times than a 6‘5 giant with proportionally shorter femurs and long arms
>got these because IST said it's easier and will fix my form and allow me to DL more
>harder to use straps
>can't mixed grip anymore
Wait I'm new here why do they say trap bars will fix your form?
just my particular limb ratio makes me arch my back before even lifting anything. Deadlifts are weird in that everybody starts at the same position regardless of body shape (half of 45lb plate)
Trapbars are easier to hold because the handles are neutral and fixed unlike a rotating barbell so your grip on a trapbar should be similiar to mixed on a barbell.
>checked and coped
>just my particular limb ratio makes me arch my back before even lifting anything
Even if you have shit leverages for deadlifting the reason you arch your back is because you don't know how to deadlift. Without seeing your form it's probably one or a combination of poor bracing, hips not in the right position so you use your lowerback instead of your glutes or not wedging/pulling slack correctly.
>puts you at a profound disadvantage if you are above 6 feet
>also, world record holder is 6'9 tall
moron. if you are tall, you also have long arms.
no, it's all about proportions
t.
I have a negative ape index (-2") and long legs, my "natural" deadlift setup has my torso horizontal to the ground, I feel like going to snap city everytime, which basically stops me from pushing the lift hard
Guys I just deadlifted 405x6 and my previous 1 rep was 405
Grats bro how tall are you
muh disadvantage
