Depression and Fitness

Is the rise of depression and the consumption of anti-depressants in america and western countries in general correlated to obesity and a lack of fitness?

No. Lack of fitness and obesity lead to depression. Giving yourself a chemical lobotomy via antidepressants just perpetuates the cycle. 30 minutes of cardio twice a day has the exact same effect as a pill with none of the negative side effects. But of course lazy fat stupid self entitled people want a quick fix.

You want the mental benefits. Do it early in the morning so you feel good through the and then again around 5 in the evening so you feel good while you're sitting on your ass in front of the computer. Those night stretches where you're in the dark and alone with your own thoughts are the worst for depression.

Antipsychotics give you the chemical lobotomy. Antidepressants are awful, horrendous and can permanently damage your brain also, but let's be clear that it's the antipsychotics that completely lobotomize people.

Can't blame them, they were moronic and needed time to improve their mental state.

It's as if you take a trauma patient and immediately throw him into a different oppression system expecting positive results.

How much choice did they have? It is the perfect integration policy + they could have something to eat during wartime.

Under the English it was a matter of one-sided oppression, but maybe they thought it would be righteous to aid the civil war?

But I do agree with you.

The Southern states had a lot of loyalist/anglophile undercurrents, especially among the elite. The majority of open loyalists were purged in the revolution, but a lot of Southerners felt a very strong connection to the English aristocracy.

Japan has incredibly high suicide rates because of their culture. Being different is worse than being dead there, as it not working and succeeding through traditional methods. Insane that they'd blame an American internet trend for something which has been going on for decades and which is 10x worse for them than the issue is in America

Here are your receipts. By the way, why is suicide so common in White culture? After all the two biggest White countries have suicide rates that dwarf Japan’s. Does something make westerners feel the need to kill themselves that much?

I might be in the minority, but I don't think the problem is as simple as workout and meditate. For whatever reason, an increasing number of people are mentally crushed to the point where they can't do anything that requires the slighest effort. Antidepressants remove a lot of the resistance to effort and make it way more likely someone will actually go to the gym.

The antidepressant is like a brace for a weak muscle. To shed it, you need to strengthen the muscle. Likewise, you can get off of anti-depressants if you strengthen your mind and spirit. That doesn't mean some people don't need them.

I don't think it's as simple as government policy or da jooz or a conspiracy. Technology keeps advancing. Cultures are changing faster and faster. With our free time we are aware of all the things we are missing out on. Born too late to colonize the continents, too soon to colonize the stars.

The symptoms of the problem are going to continue to grow. Psychotropic medicine will incressingly be dispensed. It's going to become a huge welfare burden when many of them become unemployable and need lifetime disability care (/misc/ is going to fricking explode btw).

Antidepressants and antipsychotics are going to be necessary simply to make the welfare burden managable. It's only a bandaid, but it's a start.

Same. Got fit and depressed and when gym stopped making me feel happy I gained weight and just felt hopeless every day. I just power through it though.

I had like 10 panic attacks in the night over the weekend cause I couldn’t breathe and my chest hurt and went to a doctor and he said my heart and lungs are perfectly fine I just have bad anxiety.

He offered me Lexapro but I turned it down. I kind of want to make another appointment and just try it though. I already feel so awful a lot of the time, it can’t hurt right? I’ve read some great success stories.
