No one is suggesting that powerlifting should be anyone's sole training method for MMA. But an important part of a serious MMA athletes training will be strength training and that strength training will involve bench press (because they love it), squats and likely trap bar deadlifts and/or (bad) power cleans or snatches. Because they're just efficient ways to be in the gym. And better than, e.g. Leg press and quad extensions (although they may do those if squats hurt because they're injured or battered).
So it's not powerlifting training, no singles @8 in the comp variations twice a week but it's definitely powerlifting adjacent.
And yes, not everyone does this. Some will do purely calisthenics, drills and sparring. Other people won't do them because they not taking MMA seriously and don't need or want to find every edge. But it's still a (small) part of the training plan.

IST twinks believe "powershitter" is synonymous with "person who is bigger and stronger than me". So if you've been doing strength training for 3 months or more you fall into the powershitter category around here.
