Do you have a fitness watch?
Got this as I also wanted a dive computer. Pretty neat, although I doubt its strength training calorie estimator is anywhere near accurate.

I have a cheap chinese one that I wanted to use to keep track of how my HR changes as I train cardio, and the calorie burn estimate was a nice plus, the problem is that the more I use it the worse it becomes.
When I started training 2 months ago, it basically kept track of my HR with no problem.
Now, when I go for a ride, it just says my HR somehow stays stable at 60-70 hpm, which is ridiculous because my resting hr is 70ish.
Absolute trash.
Then again it was only 30 euro, I get what I pay for.
watches aren't that accurate at tracking heart rate because of where they are on the body.

Not too shabby. I started taking melatonin and it dropped my RHR from ~55 to 50 within a day of starting it, crazy. Body battery 100% every morning but it might just be confused.
does this thing more than the apple watch?
Garmin's app is leagues better than Apple's and they have a much wider selection of specialty watches. Apple watch is more casual/lifestyle whereas Garmin has a range from casual to serious athlete

My Garmin watch is perhaps the most important purchase I've ever made. It's so motivating that if I continue to wear a health tracker then I'll probably extend my healthy lifespan by a decade. In 10 years we'll all have fitness trackers, mark my words, whether those are heart rate monitors in our phone screens or some as yet unknown thing.

What's so motivating about it? I have a garmin watch too and it's useful for tracking sleep, activities, hr and so on but I don't find it necessary at all and could easily go without it and I'm not even talking about motivation. I mean it's maybe useful if you're a fat frick but otherwise if you exercise daily there's nit much else it can do.

Fitness watches have literally no features that make them worth purchasing yet
I have an old galaxy S2, thing works great.
Cheap ones have bad reviews and you only need them for running. Cyclists need this bag with a transparent upper pocket for a smartphone to stare at the map and speed, heart rate it less of an issue. However there's zero problem putting the phone in a pocket and checking it occasionally, except for the slight risk of dropping it (barely higher than when walking).
I thougth about getting one, but none of them seem to be worth a damn for weight lifting. Seems better for runners though.

I have an apple watch, It's great for recording my heart rate and workouts albeit its kinda expensive but I've used it for a few years now and got plenty of use out of it
If you're gonna get a fitness watch, get a fitness one (Garmin instinct etc suggested).
Most smart watches are just a second screen for your phone strapped to your wrist which is double idiotic on account of the fact that a good many of them require your phone to be within Bluetooth range to work so what's the frickin' point? And the real nail is that they do all these phone functions at the expense of typically failing to do the fitness functions as well as a watch that is more dedicated to the fitness aspect.
As an added bonus Garmin will GPS track workouts without the phone present, and also Garmin still manufactures chest strap HR monitors that are considerably more accurate than ANY wrist one and obviously immediately all integrated within their ecosystem which is beneficial if you're the type to want to get super exact with your readouts.
one thing that "smart watch is a second screen" helped with is getting rid of social media, nowadays my ancient cellphone lives hooked to a backup battery in the backpack, I take it off like once a week or so to recharge.
Fenix 6 solar here. It's comfy but the calorie counter is absurdly off. I mainly use mine for nfc payments and heart rate data during workouts. The sleep data is worthless and inaccurate. Heart rate is on par with being measured at a medical clinic.
