    Yes. That doesn't mean never drink, but if you're drinking even multiple times a week, you're severely holding yourself back. Drink once a month, at most. Two or three times a year, for me personally.
    There's better drugs out there anyway that don't frick with your physiology nearly as much.

      If you’re drinking that infrequently you may as well not drink at all. Having a drink or two on the weekend is fine. Just don’t get shit your pants drunk or binge on fast food after.

        I’ve had friends that have gotten drunk enough to piss themselves but I don’t even know if you can reach the degree of incontinence required to shit your pants without dying of alcohol poisoning.

        Agreed. I pretty much only drink when it's necessary for social reasons (very, very rare) or if I really need something and there aren't better drugs available (also very rare). For the most part it's the occasional work event where I'd be the only one not drinking.
        I'd almost never choose booze over, say, kava, or phenibut, or shrooms, or even a low dose of a pot edible.
        Booze is really the worst. Between booze and sober, I'll take sober 99% of the time.

          what's your protocol for the kava and phenibut? surprised someone is relating these two with shrooms and edibles. is the effect comparable?

            They're all very different. The right drug for the right moment, you know? But overall, Kava is my "every day" drug, shrooms less often. Twice a week if I'm microdosing, every two or three weeks if I'm taking larger doses. Pot once in a blue moon. Phenibut, no more than once a month typically, usually less.
            As for kava and phenibut, only take them both when you're ready to sleep for 12 hours, cause you're gonna be out. Deepest sleep ever though.

        This is what kills me. I drink 6-7 beers and then binge eat an entire pizza with cookies. Completely out of control and wrecks my gains for the week so I have just stayed the same for years.

      I've been taking a liking to nicotine pouches lately. They give a similar buzz to coffee, but shorter lasting and more enjoyable for me.

      Don't stress it anon. They are only judging you, because you are making them doubt their own decision to drink. Nobody likes to hear that this thing they like is bad for them. Alcohol just isn't worth it most of the time and this is coming from someone who really enjoys a good drink.

        Nicotine is an interesting choice for sure. I don't like how addictive it is, but it's pretty interesting how low the health risks are of pure nicotine, compared to smoking.

    If I binge drink on one weekend night in my 30's, you can seriously feel the negative effects during the first half of the next week. I hate it.

    Yes. If you want to maximize gains don't drink at all.
    If you must drink, drink a small amount on a rest day, along with plenty of water.

    on the weekend I can drive a 12 pack or more of light beer. during the week I'll have a 6 pack of light beer with half a pint of vodka.

    I still train no problem and get good sleep, just have to know when to hydrate and avoid all junk food since the booze adds up.

    Long time alcoholic here. I'M DOING IT, I'm quitting, I've been on ~12 beers a day for years, and have wanted to quit for years, I feel like I'm in the right place to quit again.
    >>12 beers Saturday
    >6 beers Sunday
    >4 beers Monday
    >3 beers tonight
    I'M GUNNA FRICKIN' DO IT, I'M GUNNA FRICKIN' DO IT. I want to get fit again, I feel like this is a huge prerequisite though. Alcohol lowers test, increases cortisol, and dramatically lowers your quality of sleep (at least for me.) Trying to train while continuing to drink heavily would be pointless. I may go back to drinking picrel for a while I transition back to sobriety.

    I'm simultaneously trying to cut caffeine since it raises cortisol too, plus it's just a waste of money. I've had a lot better luck going caffeine-free in the past, yesterday I did 'only' 80mg and today I did none. Just a small headache, didn't really have any cravings, let's see if I can keep it up.

    Alcohol is poison and once a week or month is still extremely bad for you
    Every time you drink you need at least a week to recover from the damage done internally and it WILL age you like nothing else
    Quit it forever if you want to feel and look good all the time well into your 50s
    Every poster here that tells you is ok to drink is either fat, too young to notice damage or looks 10 years older than he is
