Does anyone actually need a power rack?

Does anyone actually need a power rack? Could I get by with a basic squat stand and can I get around injuries with only a basic squat stand?

You could get by, there are a few exercises that require a power rack tho. Rack pulls, pin press... you could do without, and adapt ways to work partial rom even without a rack.
But, how are you doing pull ups? if you don't have a bar already, you should check if stand+bar don't cost as much as a rack, at that point you might as well buy a rack.

Power rack is simply more versatile and safe. You might go a lifetime without getting injured from lifting without safeties. But you might also end your lifetime without safeties.

This is fine, you definitely don't need a power rack. Learn to bail a squat and don't try to squat your 1RM (which you shouldn't be doing anyway because you're not trying to be some fat powershitter) and bench without clamps.

You ever notice heavy bench has people spotting the bar off the bench?

You can use op pic like the claw thing powerlifters use if you use the safeties instead of the sketchy ass hooks.

I would have died several times already if I hadn't bought a cage. The peace of mind is worth it.

Full body 3/week with picrel, haven't died yet.
Would like a full rack once we have room for one but I make squat stands work. Already had a bar for pullups and ring dips though.

    Just don't be dumb.

Yeah the $200 I spent on used squat stands financially ruined me. Frick off and learn to spell.

It's actually kind of sick for bench because you can lean them and get a self spot.

Bench press i understand, but why would you hurt yourself squatting without safeties, though? It just falls on the floor or ground. You might break something, but that something isn't your body.

that's if you bail correctly, same applies for bench. but you can fail in an uncontrolled way and have the bar land on your spine

Just clean and front squat the weight. Racks are a waste of money. I bought a log bar instead of one

One of my neighbours has had one of those standing untouched in his back garden for several years, along with with some oly plates and bars.
I'd ask him if he wants to part with them, but he's a grade A c**t, and we've butted heads a few times.
Hmmm, I may just have to organise their err..liberation at some point..

I bought power rack for my home gym, but kinda regret it. It doesn't set for me any other purpose than just for squats, and I could replace normal squats with zerchers and be fine. Might sell it idk

    >need a power rack?
no, but if you have the space and can afford to spend a little extra, they're great just for peace of mind. I learned to bail safely in high school, but I've also watched people pass out mid rep in person. I'd rather have the peace of mind personally

we gather here today to remember OP, he was never had what ISTizens call a "swole natty physique", and his pathetic attempt at a lmao 2pl8 squat has had him a quick trip to snap city capital, aka heaven.
