Basically no one. Only easy gainers truly benefit from something like SS and only true spooky skellys benefit from GOMAD. Theres no overlap between the groups. These two in the picrel are brother and sister btw
this is not true
pretty much everyone makes huge gains on SS or stronglifts as a beginner, its the best way to make beginner gains hands down
and GOMAD (or half a gallon more realistically) basically just makes you grow muscle without any effort, i wasnt even a skelly when i started half gomad and i gained so much muscle it gave me ugly stretch marks on my legs and around my armpits
i gained some fat but i was shapely, multiple people complimented me on how broad my shoulders had gotten (noticeable under a sweater)

Does anyone still do SS + GOMAD?
a year later i still basically just do stronglifts 5x5 with some supplementary stuff like curls, dips, kettlebell stuff, weighted pullups, etc
>everyone makes huge gains on SS or stronglifts as a beginner
B8 or moronation. Can't tell which. Didn't read the rest of your novel if this is the level of brainpower you have available
if you have never lifted before its pretty much impossible not to make huge beginner gains with these unless your diet is absolute dogshit, hence why people recommend gomad
this is empirical fact and you are a moronic homosexual
Why do beginners need lots of volume when tehy make huge progress on low volume that still is enough considering recovery time? It's not beginners that need a lot of volume.
because beginners are physically unable to neurally mobilize their driver function, meaning their sets are devoid of intensity experienced lifters can recruit. beginners do need more volume to compensate. after 5 years of training i'm training LESS than on my 1st year, while each set is shit ton more intense.
And what difference will it really make if a beginner does less intensity but more volume the first 3 months? Or stronglifts 5x5 instead of 3x5? Will there be a noticeable difference after several years of training based on these first 3 months? These fiest 3 months are just to get started and get used to the lifts and gaining mostly neurological strength. Almost anything you do will work. No need to make it too complicated.

This is the exact reason to not do SS. It doesn’t really matter what you do to start as long as you start. However, just add 5 pounds type programs create stimulus by increasing the weight. You are rushing to lift as much much weight as possible, realistically most trainees have no coach, no one checking form etc, and if they are older (not a teenager) they are probably starting from a base of sedentary activity levels, and atrophied muscles. The probability of injury is very high. More weight = more force = more mechanical stress on tissues and tendons = more chance of injury. Why do this when you could achieve the same results with less weight while letting your body get acclimated to exercise again? Plus it’s boring and dogmatic as shit. Again, if it doesn’t matter what you do, shouldn’t you be encouraged to try a variety of exercises? Shouldn’t you be encouraged to do cardio, etc?

Doing strength program will help your cardio.
Doing cardio won't make you stronger.
If you need to choose, free weights tends to be better

So what program should beginners do instead? Btw when I say almost anything will work I obviously mean some program that centers around compound lifts and progressively increasing the load and that goal is either strengt and/or big muscles, not some vague idea about "getting fit".
>never train your: upper back, biceps, lateral and posterior delts, biceps and triceps >barely train the pecs (close to zero rom bench doesn't train the pecs) >miss the beginner gains, look like a complete dyel after 2 years of lifting >post "pretty much everyone makes huge gains on SS or stronglifts as a beginner, its the best way to make beginner gains hands down!!!!" in every thread to make your sorrow go away
many such cases
yeah dude, those 9 sets of squats per week made my upper body explode. i went from auchwitcz mode to looking like a bigger version of jake gyllenhal just by doing ss+gomad
How long ago did this happen? I first visited IST in 2008 but only recently started getting IST. I did occasionally check it out though and a couple of years about everyone was saying SS + GOMAD, also squats & oats but no one is saying that anymore. What happened?
I tend to think SS+GOMAD became a meme like 5 or 6 years ago (maybe more). You could see lads here posting their pics with massive legs and bad acne, also in other bodybuilding forums.
Note that SS is not a meme if you take it as a novice program that shouldn't go beyond certain point in time.
Now a gallon of milk per day is a fricking joke.
Squats & oats is just a motto.
it happened when IST became majority zoomers who watch "influencers" and never even read or tried SS to begin with
I guarantee you that almost everyone fudding SS/stronglifts/GOMAD never even started with it (or with GOMAD, theyre seething browns who cant drink milk)
its never been debunked, the quality of posters has just declined
dont let people tell you "its always been bad" bc at least back 15 years ago people had the attention span to read a pdf
LOMAD (liter of milk a day) is great because it’s ~660 kcal and 33g protein, so I can switch between maintenance and bulking by just drinking milk.
And I did SL and now I’m on Madcow. SS/SL are great for beginners, as long as you don’t overdo it, especially if all you care about are aesthetics, just reach your first deload and move on to another program.
complete meme workout for angry forum morons who want to look dyel in clothes. i have no sympathy for anyone who thought this was a good idea and wasted precious time doing it.
If you're not above 6'6 don't bother drinking a GOMAD.

You're delusional.
There are a ton of better programs, SS and SL have insanely low volume for a beginner routine.
Also Ripp and Mehdi are full of shit

I did SS for a year and did not grow. I switched to PPL and grew rapidly. Never did GOMAD because I’m not moronic.
>I did SS for a year and did not grow
What were your before and after lifts and bodyweight?
yeah dude, those 9 sets of squats per week made my upper body explode. i went from auchwitcz mode to looking like a bigger version of jake gyllenhal just by doing ss+gomad
Milk doubled in price so now i do HGOMAD
Thank God no. Perhaps the ONE and ONLY thing /fit has ever accomplished for good is debunking SS+GOMAD.
