Does it make sense to buy a multi-purpose bench?

i'm living in a small student room. Would like to start working out at home anf feel like training my back would benefit me.

This guy looks weird and wears a hat. I have seen him posted here before which makes me trust him even less.

Yes. Because it allows you to do multiple exercises.

Will hyperextensions, running, hinking and regular barbell exercises be enough to fix a 26 year old coder body in the long run?

        >regular barbell exercises
that would be enough on its own.
If you can, find SOMETHING so that you can do pullups, that's the second best thing.
You can do without a bench for hyperextensions, a chair would suffice, and if you're better you could do nordic curls into back extensions.

Barbell is be enough but you should also do rows and pull ups. Hyperextensions are overrated. Do glute bridges/hip thrusts and deadlifts for your back and also core training. Once you can deadlift 200lbs you can also start doing bent-over rows for gains to completely bulletproof your back.

        you don't need a bench.

These are twenty bucks and perfectly safe if you don't do meme exercises. Stop half assing things and just go to the gym though. Your current attitude tells me that there's a 95% chance you'll give up on this whim within a month. Do it properly or just stop wasting your time already.

Start from calisthenics and go from there if you feel like you want more.

Your uni doesn’t have a gym? Are you not allowed near playgrounds? Very little will be accomplished training back with just a bench.

I did and use it as to hang clothes. A pullup bar and a pair of rings is much better than bench+dumbbells for me as a beginner

this was my home gym for the last 3 years and I got up to 225lbs with almost 18" arms and okay sized shoulders
recently bought a barbell and 150kg in weights to do deadlifts because I dont think its healthy to only do reverse back extensions and kettlebell swings for your lower back

one bench and a pair of dumbbells go a long way to actually getting you started on the pattern of lifting. multi bench or not doesn't actually matter.

i don't really know wtf pic related does other than maybe sit ups or hamstring bodyweight curls or whatever they're called

just do dumbbell bench press, rows, curls, skullcrushers and you've got yourself a start. keep it simple.

but u can also do reverse hypers on your bed if needed
