        >What was his routine?
From my notes on old boxers' routines (sources are newspaper clips etc):
        >Rocky Marciano
        >7AM - 6 miles run completed in over an hour
        >5 minutes shadowboxing.
        >3 rounds sparring, every round with a different partner.
        >Heavybag work (no rounds given)

This was the 50s, the last decade without amssive steroid usage and the routines are overall very low volume, as you can see.

              > Ben Bently, Rocky's press agent, said after signing for a fight he would increase his running in the morning to 9-10 miles. And then the last week before a fight he would increase his running to 12-15 miles in the mornings. EVERY morning.
              >In camp, he would run in the morning, and fast walk another 10 miles at night.

You’re a fricking homosexual. Of course one of the greatest boxers alive didn’t just jog 6 miles in over and hour. God I fricking hate you homosexuals.

I did my research You just googled some shit and are obviously so not into boxign and running you cannot tell that 15 miles daily (plus 10 miles walking) is pretty fricking unrealistic for a heavyweight boxer. I can only wonder why you would believe those numbers, dyel.

          Also, some more notes:
          >Rocky's heavy bag wasn't 300 lb, but 270, described as "about four times as heavy as a normal bag". Meaning: A normal heavy bag was rather light back then, 60-65kg. Another article says 60 lb.

          >"Rocky starts sparring anywhere from three to six rounds depending on how much actual combat Goldman thinks he needs. Then he works on the 160-pound and 60-pound bags and winds up with speed work on the light overhead bag."
          >Meaning the super heavy bag was 160 and the normal one was 60 lbs.

Old newspaper articles on boxing are pretty amazing, they had no secrets back then and openly showed their training.

99% of "grapplers" look like they just bought a medal somewhere because they have no clue how to submit or control anybody on the ground. We used to see triangle chokes and twisters now it's BJJ blackbelts with "unstoppable" ground game who can't even rear naked choke like aljo.

                Anonymous

Are you high? Grappling has a lot to do with position, so people with great wrestling or stand up can dominate most of the fight by putting themselves on top every single fight. Of course people who specialize in stand up will have worse ground game. That doesn't mean they are bad, but ground game specialists like black belt guard pullers will make their subs look bad in comparison. And vice versa with the black belts stand up. Just be well rounded in both.

Tyson had talent and the best boxing coach(es) of all time take him under their wing kek... and he self destructed and pissed it all away. Anyways in his prime with proper coaching he was one of the best ever and entertaining to watch... just a bum to the core though.

Anyways Marciano's fights are entertaining. He got in the ring and had hard punishing fights- tests of willpower. All the greats by his time were sort of aging but that's not his fault he fought who was there to fight. What can you say bad about the guy I mean the record speaks for itself. He had a pretty decent head on his shoulders too and despite the hard fights he never seemed overtly fricked up. It's easy to see why his style was so loved.

Mayweather, I can't fault the guy for all his money and success but the fights fricking sucked. He is basically moronic (boxing didn't cause it thats just how he is). No one likes watching the fights, no willpower involves just technique. Again not to knock him but if the fans justifiably think your fights are gay that sort of kneecaps your legacy no matter how technically good it is.

Ali, sort of the total package I mean obviously entertaining to watch, huge willpower toughness and skill, great record in a loaded era. Probably the greatest in many ways but he was a fricking prick obviously and people aren't wrong to dislike him for his antics even though some of it had to be a good pro-wrestling approach to marketing. Anyways he paid the price for it... went out eating through a staw being fed cheerios in the end.

Foreman, very entertaining to watch. Likeable, just a puncher though (he got a little better on the come back) but never had any real skill. He could have beaten Ali but was just too goddam stupid to ever be a real boxer and have some good coaching etc. Having said that just look at his success despite his shortcomings. Despite some brutal fights he seemed to have never got his brains (such as they are) jumbled.

        Sorry for tldr

Mayweather is two tales, him pre 147 and him at 147 and sometimes above. Pre 147 he was a beast, he combined speed, technique, accuracy, reflexes and power. Floyd at 147 didn't have the KO power and his hands were breaking down by that point so he had to settle for a points style. Prime Floyd was 135, Floyd at 147 was his older style.

            Anonymous

It is very hard to make lightweight fights entertaining to start with- and Mayweather never entertained me very much. I don't think I am alone either I think most of the fans agree on that. And perhaps at certain points in his career the fights were better- that is probably true- but I watched too many boring gay ass fights from Mayweather and that sort of thing has a way of just ruining a legacy.

You know I could watch alot of activities that involve immense technical skill and never be entertained.... that is only a portion of what makes for a great fight imho and that is ALL Mayweather ever brought to the table.

              Anonymous

              >It is very hard to make lightweight fights entertaining to start with
How can you say that when Corrales-Castillo was a lightweight fight. Historically tons of HOF and ATG fighters had lightweight runs and dominations and even today lightweight is a stacked division.

                Anonymous

There have been great ~lightweight fights kek I never said there weren't but when guys are basicly using popguns it just takes some of the fun out of it. Just as a spectator it is much harder to be entertained with such a lack of power that you see in the lower weight classes.

Just being brutally honest here. Just watch the Leonard fights kek it looks fricking badass at first but once you realize they are just sort of slap boxing it gets old and boring (generally speaking of course).
