Does your body need sugar?

I've cut sugar for extended periods of time before and the cravings never went away, also felt like shit.

Yes. Your body requires sugar to such a degree that it has an emergency mechanism to convert protein into sugar so you don't die.

you do not need fructose. in fact you are better of not eating any or only small amounts that are in fruits. you need at least 60% carbs in your diet though. for optimal health and well being.

high fat diets are terrible for you in long term

Duh. Eating sugar makes you feel great. For half an hour. Then you need more two hours later to counter the down. Cutting sugar is not so much about how you feel immediately but about preventive measurements for future you. Or do you like to envision yourself getting fat, bald and diabetic?

          Anonymous

          >bald
this is real. fuctose decreases shbg. shbg binds most strongly to dht and only weakly to epitestosterone which is natural androgen antagonist AND aromatase inhibitor. it saves androgenic tissues from excess androgen activity but does not make much if any difference for muscles. since it is antiestrogenic it stimulates balls to produce more test like clomid or estrogen modulators do.

You need glucose to fuel everything, you can either eat it or force your body to produce it through stressful processes that are supposed to help you survive in emergency situations.
This should be an easy choice but then again your brain needs glucose to function properly so I don't blame low-carb fanatics for being morons.

if you eat carbs you feel pretty good and have tons of energy, for a while, but then eventually you start to run out of energy so you'll need to eat more carbs later otherwise you start to feel like shit

clearly the solution here is to just stop eating carbs and feel like shit all the time

No it doesn't. You can live without sugar.
You can't live without fat or protein though. Sugar is the only optional macro.

For most of history humans have been without much sugar.
It's not with the few ancient fruits we would get during the right seasons that we would be able to live. Humans have lived and thrived with protein and fat only.

your testosterone will go down and your energy endurance will go down, here's a recent study done on elite athletes, when they went low carb their performance went to shit
    >Adherence to a Ketogenic Low-Carbohydrate
    >Athletes were housed at the Australian Institute of Sport residence where all food and fluids consumed during the study were created, prepared, and monitored by a chef, and food service/sports dietitians within the research team
    >In conclusion, elite endurance athletes adhering to an LCHF diet showed impaired training capacity relative to their CHO-supported counterparts, completing lower training volumes at slower speeds with higher heart rates
    >the reduction in absolute training intensity may contribute to negative physiological (submaximal walking economy) and performance adaptations, especially during training phases that focus on high-intensity sessions.

you mean added sugars? yea I knew added sugar was bad for me when I went without it for like 3 months then ate a pack of oreos one day and felt like shit afterwards. added sugar is very much like nicotine, that why some people get so fricking fat, because they can't keep stuffing themselves with sweets and drinking soda.

    ketosis is a meme
    >but muh inuit
    >Traditional Inuit diets derive approximately 50% of their calories from fat, 30–35% from protein and 15–20% of their calories from carbohydrates, largely in the form of glycogen from the raw meat they consumed.
yeah not even the inuit go into ketosis

Yes, your brain and muscles need glycogen and this isn't even a moronic bro science or israelite doctor statement. You look at the history of mankind and carbs along with protein have been linked to the development of the human brain. Don't let ketotards or coping fatties on crash diets tell you otherwise
