Dunno why but lunges and step ups always felt like shit to me. Barbell BSS feels fantastic though, that shit is going to be in my program for a century
But now that guys literally just using a squat rack and bar completely negating the purpose of this whole debate
This man is now at risk for snapping his shit and dying dumb frick
3 moronic points especially the first one jesus christ bro just pick up heavier dumbbells how hard is it any half decent gym has dumbbells that go up to at least 50kgs please come back when you can lunge split squat or step up two 50kg dumbbells for 10 reps and show your legs frick you i hope you feel bad for how stupid your comment is i also hope you have a bad day and to everyone else reading this i hope you have a lovely day and enjoy your weekend now im going to get some food and head to the gym and i will use the stupidity i just have read and has made some of my brain cells die off as fuel for my workout also dont forget to reply to this post or your mother will die in her sleep tonight
>muh weight
maxing out the muscle at a lower load literally just means more efficient training and less risk of snapping your shit. the muscle doesn't give a frick what the number on the bar is it only experiences tension.
are you a bodybuilder on alot of drugs? because otherwise training with baby weights will do nothing but waste time and do nothing. i guarantee you look dyel because you are a pussy and a moron.
>physics
you think you can gain muscle from lifting baby weights for high reps and somehow "physics" explains this? are you moronic? marathon runners would be more jacked than tom platz if that was true.
yeah if they just had enough calories they'd be the most jacked people on earth. the muscle knows no difference. LOL if you ever start lifting, you'll realize what an idiot you were.
no one said baby weights or high reps except you. i said if you're maxing out the muscle the number on the bar doesn't matter because the muscle gets stimulus through induced tension not weight. if you BSS or lunges max out your quads at 5lb then your problem is not having quads

You're still gonna have to lift heavy weights. 400x10 is still heavy and hard. your 1pl8x10 is not gonna cut it bud.

No you don't. >your 1pl8x10 is not gonna cut it bud.
Who cares? No job on earth needs you to lift more than 100-120 lbs.
t. actually has a job that involves lifting things into, onto, and off of, trucks of 3-4 metric tons of volume a day
I love how you make up a point then argue against it like a complete autist. Im talking high reps relative to powerlifting, so in the 7-12 range also known as HYPERTROPHY RANGE YOU DROOLING FRICKTARD

you literally cannot read. >no one said baby weights or high reps >7-12 range >maximize tension
you're actually low IQ. you think putting more weight on two legs is more stimulus than doing 75% of the weight on one leg because the number is bigger

does the weight matter or not?

no, the tension on the muscle matters. if you used some ridiculous leverage to maximize tension on the muscle with 5% of the weight, you would provide the same stimulus as maxing it out without that. you need less weight to max out on BSS than squats but the point is to provide stimulus to the muscle not to move the most weight. otherwise lifting would be about cargo loading not muscle building.

okay so if you can't find a way to use ridiculous leverage with 5lbs, then what do you do?

cool projection you pretentious moron. answer the question.

why can't he answer the question?
because the point of the hypothetical was to demonstrate to you that maximizing weight is not the same as maximizing muscle stimulus so you could process how you can do the same work with less weight moronchama, not to tell you to lift nothing but 30 foot long lever arms. last attempt to reason with you

yes obviously genius. my question is, when you can't do that what do you do?
Anonymous
why does that matter? the subject at hand is one where you very much can which is why this thread exists.
"big" weights are possible only due to a very advantageous position in a given exercise (for example squats with an ideally balanced barbell in the ideal position on your back)
taking a less advantageous position (like in bss) makes it possible to achieve the same kind of stimulus with using less weight, usually putting less pressure on your connective tissue (which is ideal)
spells it out well.
when you can't do that you just don't. so?

If you can't balance when doing these you are a literal moron. It takes about 10 mins for me to do 3 sets on both legs so time isn't a concern either
are you a bodybuilder on alot of drugs? because otherwise training with baby weights will do nothing but waste time and do nothing. i guarantee you look dyel because you are a pussy and a moron.
Who said you can't use heavy weights on BSS? I do 5-7 reps on them just fine lol
I do them with 40kg backpack + 30kg dumbell in one hand, holding onto something with the other and doing 10-15 reps. Balancing is a sure way to snap your shit and die or you spent more focus on balancing than on the exercise
I do all of them. Did leg press yesterday, squatted the day before, doing reverse lunges today. Lift like your life depends on it, for it does, you coward.
Why do this shit when you can just you know....do the tried and testing lifts.... squats, deadlifts, hacksquats, leg press, hamstring curls, leg extensions, rdl's, front squats, etc..
All this bs is moronic and it just makes me think youre doing fancy shit to try avoid the actual shit that works because youre a special snowflake
Lads i just came back from the gym and am on a pump high
I must admit i have participated in the discussion above but now looking bad at it im disgusted. Why bother? Why have some discussion which isnt even about the point at hand, but about colliding egos?
Just let it go and go work out or do something else you enjoy, this isnt worth the stress
And that settles it
I'm never doing a single squat in my life
I'm doing great progress on leg press anyways
I leg press 1000lbs for reps
No idea what that translates to for squats
Don't care anymore
From now on if a guy asks me how much I can squat I'll ask him how much he can leg press and squat so I can do the math for him
, have bar, belt, wraps and double spotters >wrist snaps under the weight because the exercise is literally designed to maximize mechanical advantage over the strongest muscles in the body >this is perfectly okay, you just made a moronic decision to have weak bones that day is all
I'm moving to BSS because normal squats aren't worth the fatigue for me anymore
I can squat 140kg 3x5, how much weight (with dumbbells) could I expect to do for BSS for higher reps? Just to give me a reference frame
Just try. I use a 20 kg plate in each hand for 12 reps (2-3 sec. eccentric) and have squated 170kg for two reps with 1-2 reps in reserve. It also depends on your footing.

I actually snapped my shit doing step ups.
I thought I took it slow enough. I started at a very small height and over time increased the height.
When I tried in on a picnic table it was too much. Something popped in there and years later it still gets vaguely sore sometimes.
I love BSS and every time i get them i get crazy ass pump and soreness. Yet i NEVER see women do them, every single wanna-be thot in my gym would rather spend half an hour setting up Hip Thrust or some fricking suicidal-ass smith machine exercise with their legs up in the air. Can anyone explain to me why? Is it because normies think more complex and annoying = better?
Dunno why but lunges and step ups always felt like shit to me. Barbell BSS feels fantastic though, that shit is going to be in my program for a century
>can't load it to any reasonable weight

Use a barbell, I do 2lb increments personally
can slide out
Just use some plates so that it doesn't budge
But now that guys literally just using a squat rack and bar completely negating the purpose of this whole debate

Hold two 100 lb dumbbells
You're now squatting 400 lbs

More weight means more injuries.

Who said you can't use heavy weights on BSS? I do 5-7 reps on them just fine lol
just do lunges or step ups instead
bss is too wonky

do low bar squatters really
And that settles it
I'm never doing a single squat in my life
I'm doing great progress on leg press anyways

No idea what that translates to for squats
Don't care anymore
From now on if a guy asks me how much I can squat I'll ask him how much he can leg press and squat so I can do the math for him
Surely you've seen the leg press webms
1000 lbs on a leg press sound much safer than squats.
and here we got another one
One year of BSS and I can say it's the greatest leg builder in my experience, I feel like a moron for having wasted years on lesser exercises.
I love bss because I'm too moronic not to hurt myself with ordinary squats.

I do squats with dumbbells and sometimes a goblet squat with one dumbbell. Why do I need to do leg press or barbell squat exactly can anyone tell me?
Why don't you just walk up and down the stairs then?
With weight?
Because you might fall down the stairs
Without weight?
Because you need weight
