How hard would it be for a company to make protein powder that is actually just powdered whey??
Do you think there would be much potential for profit in doing so? What if we made more protein powder consumers more aware that common protein powder brands contain artificial flavouring, palm oil and HFCS???
Of the whey in it, 100% of that whey is whey. Hawaiian Punch does the same false advertising with "100% juice" and they somehow are allowed to get away with it.
where does it say that it's 100% whey?
All i see is that they claim to be a 100% whey gold standard. They're the most golden standard (whatever that means) of all wheys.
I've been taking it for probably 10 years now and just in the last 8 months it's been giving me the more horrendous shits. Protein farts are one thing but I'm shitting for hours per day with it recently. I've actually just switched off of it and gone with anything else and it's fine now.
It never was to begin with. ꜱoy lecithin as an emulsifier, HFCS as a sweetener, and low BCAA content. They just struck marketing gold and got extremely popular through fitfluencers and word-of-mouth, making them the #1 top seller.
I'm not gonna recommend an alternative brand because the last few times I did that I got called a shill, but if you just do 15 minutes of research you can find brands that use non-ꜱoy emulsifiers and better sweeteners (or no sweetener at all if you get unflavored)
I currently use Naked Whey, its the most barebones shit I could find. But you should supplement with extra BCAAs if you choose them, since they really mean it when they say no frills. MyProtein is also currently switching from ꜱoy to sunflower lecithin, which will make them a good choice soon.
As for the heavy metals thing, yes its true that many powders contain heavy metals. But what they dont tell you is that heavy metals are found in so much of the shit we eat and drink nowadays, its unavoidable. If you eat seafood of any kind regularly, you'll get far more from that than any powder. If you're still paranoid, try to get unflavored or vanilla flavored powder. Chocolate flavored powders tend to have slightly more metals due to the type of chocolate flavoring that is used.
