dopamine detox - are they bs or real

readin into dopamine - serotonin interactions

its very complex but basically high dopamine can indirectly cause less serotonin to be synthesised. the high dopamine release of being online alll day everyday then stopping could explain why some great results from dopamine detoxes
also high chronic stress from being online too much leads to less serotonin

anyone got any info that taking breaks from internet influence brain chemistry or vice versa too much internet changes brain chemistry

It's real but it takes a very long time. A month or two doesn't cut it. It takes like half a year to feel what normal is like again. According to neurology textbooks I've read full turnover takes roughly 3 years. I've done it before but I came back like a moron

Tell us more from your textbook research i find it hard to find any info on this.
some sources confirm high dopamine indirectly causes low serotonin, others deny this

Serotonin receptors are present on most dopamine producing neurons but generally not the other way around. Excessive or deficient serotonin will frick with dopamine production but excessive or deficient dopamine will have little effect on serotonin. Excess serotonin leads to low dopamine production and deficient serotonin leads to the opposite. Dopamine production itself is very, very externally driven, even compared to serotonin though. Serotonin production really just limits or expands the ceiling of your dopamine production.

but high dopamine causes anxiety, depression other symptoms of low serotonin

Low serotonin increases the ceiling for dopamine production, which leads to more instances of high dopamine. I said that in my reply my man. They're going to have similar symptoms because that's how they interact. More instances of low serotonin end up giving you more people with excessive dopamine. If I injected your brain with lots of dopamine but didn't decrease serotonin production you wouldn't see strong symptoms of anxiety or depression because that mostly hinges on serotonin itself which affects dopamine like a domino falling into place.

So high dopamine doesn't cause anxiety it's low serotonin? I've read so many accounts about dopamine being excited and too much will overstimulate the brain and reward circuit

You don't need to even see it on a neurotransmitter level, but simply changing your life so that you stop endless pointless scrolling, jacking off, etc. will improve it a lot.
Personally I changed most of my internet use for books and I'm way happier, also in this way you avoid all the negative demoralization content that affects you even if you don't realize it

how long does it take to feel ok after stopping adderall

yes it works, I mean you can try it for a week and see for yourself. the issue is most people are just going to go back to how they were beforehand. using tech and being online etc is fine but just work on reducing it overall so you don't have this yoyo between addiction and detox.

How long does it take to get to that point?
My reward circuits are definitely fried from decades of porn, vidya, and scrolling. I can maintain discipline and avoid those vices for months but I always find myself dreaming of bailing on all responsibilities and just binging on escapism.

Basically; I spend summers at my parents' homestead doing chores. While it's satisfying to a degree, my subconscious is just waiting to get that 'alone time' again .

well if you arent using screens at all for months thats a significant dopamine detox. ive heard it can take a long time to repair but for most life changing mental issues that is more than enough of a break to see benefits with things like adhd, anxiety, depression, social skills ect

Please give a non technical tl dr formula for best balance. I must suffer from low serotonin at times (I get migraines and sadness when it happens, and I freezemax my body with ice packs to get better)

hard to give formula since its so under researched

just take a few weeks off and see if symptoms improve, and ease back into screens and try not use them for pointless things
