IF you got the plate weights that can match get one of those adjustable handle Dumbbells that accept barbell weights for an "affordable" set up must buy if you already got an adjustable bench.
i own both barbell + plates, and adjustable dumbbells. trust me. the adjustable dumbbells with the spinlocks are very worth it if you can afford them.
just get these. But honestly if I was a richgay I'd probably get the titan dumbbells because it does get a little annoying to change the weights on the spinlock dumbbells but I dont mind.
Thanks for the recommendations, bros. I'll look into these
A set of dumbbells (from Titan, lmao) up to 50lbs in each hand is $1k. You can get a basic rack from Rep Fitness for $300 and for another $350 you can get a 300lbs olympic weight plate set with a starter bar.

Spinlock sets like this are THE answer for anons who want a cheap alternative to either solid dumbbell sets or barbell/bench/rack set up. They take up very little space, changing the weight is quick and easy (if you disagree you're either too stupid or too lazy) and weight is weight, if you use them correctly you will make gains. I got my set a few years ago pre-pandemic, 200 lbs for a dollar/pound. Yes, you will have to be creative for some stuff longterm, especially legs. But they will stay useful forever even if you eventually just use them for assistance or isolation stuff. You're not going to be doing 100lb single arm curls any time soon.

I have used mine 4x per week for like five years with no problems. Are you intellectually disabled anon? It's steel and iron. Unless you buy some chinesium brand it'll be fine it's just metal.

You are based and correct. Spinlock is all you need for a home gym unless you're rich and willingly to splurge money on fancy dumbbells

Just do goblet squats and accessories/cardio to round out your legs like you should be doing anyway. There's a reason fatsos love barbell so much; less movement. Just moron shit grunt in place a couple of times then come on IST to brag about the three plate 1RM and get no b***hes (spoiler: the gym varbie isn't getting swole to get a gym rat, she wants to go jetsetting on ugly daddy bucks)
barbell main, dumbbell accessory except for arm exercises which are the opposite
Dumbells exist purely for women or men who are insanely self conscious about the size of their arms. Compound lifts ONLY.
Kettlebells for squats and ohps, dumbbells for arms and isolation movements.
Is jealous of people with bigger arms than them.
Get therapy, build useful muscle before you get embarrassed by a girl who does compound lifts
this is such a weird elitist hill to die on. have fun i guess
t. noodle arms
Barbell, because I lift in my garage and dumbbells are a ridiculously expensive way to get weights

how the frick are dumbbells more expensive? to do a barbell squat you need a squat rack, for dumbbells you don't

You are a fricking moron
who the frick buys these except gyms? just get 2 spin lock dumbbells and 4 plates for each weight. shouldn't cost more than $500

Call me a griplet, but I can't hold onto dumbbells as heavy as what I want to squat for the duration of the set.
Good, you shouldn't, there is no reason on earth to bother doing squats with dumbells.
If you can do the lift with a barbell, do it with a barbell
>destroy your spine to LARP as a powershitter

guys how do i utilize my barbell if i dont have a bench or rack? i dont like doing cleans
For what lifts? Eg for squats you can clean the bar up and do heel-elevated front squats since you won't need much weight for those.
