DYEL mode

Is it possible to be very strong and athletic while also looking like a completely average guy in normal BMI range? It's cool to test your physical limits but being visibly muscular is extremely cringe.

You can be stronger without looking bigger. My great grandfather was strong as a bull AND thin as a rail. It just takes a lifetime of hard labor.

Yeah most athletes are in the 20-22 bmi area. It's not even for the sake of longevity which is extremely short in most sports having an average retirement age around 26. It's just it's not really beneficial except in sports that call for it like American football or wrestling.

    >None of the main characters in my anime are excessively buff, plus the girl on the internet said she doesn't like muscles and women would never lie about what they want.

Don't worry, you'll never get any kind of strong or athletic, let alone visibly muscular. You lack the conviction.

Fighters need to be lean because it takes so much more cardio than weightlifting. If you thought running or swimmung was hard, you've seen nothing. Lifting weights is easy in comparison. Heavyweight fighters are truly a beast in this regard.
