Eating liver

I ate some liver for the first time a few days ago and have had the craziest morning wood since. What did my body mean by this?

means you have been malnourished untill now, i love liver and used to eat a lot of it but now that i have a good diet i don't want much of it if not for taste, which i interpret as i don't need it as much.
it's also difficult to find good quality.

I think you might be right. I didn't like the taste much at all but maybe I'll grow to like it, will try and eat once a week from now on

It means you haven't been eating enough animal fat and cholesterol to make a proper amount of testosterone

      >cholesterol doesn't increase blood cholesterol
      >b-but your body uses dietary cholesterol to produce test
morons on this board can't be this stupid, can they?

Total Cholesterol doesn't cause CVD. Raising cholesterol increases testosterone... to a degree.
I don't see how this translates to "your body uses consumed cholesterol to increase its own cholesterol". Cholesterol is in all animals and is necessary for life. The idea that cholesterol and its carriers is somehow toxic is something big soi wants you to believe so you consume foods that don't help increase cholesterol. (I am not the anon you responded to, you're both wrong in my eyes)

          absolutely based

not him but blood cholesterol levels are entirely dependent on gene expression, they are what they should be at any given time because your body requires THAT AMOUNT at that time.
it obviously varies with diet but it's not intake that is what dictates how much ends up in your blood, diet changes how much you need, but "how much you need" has a shitton of variables and confounds, and ultimately it's not the one that determines what your genes tell your brain to send signals to have that much cholesterol in your blood.
idk if i explained it simply enough.

How is it supposed to be prepared?

I hear raw liver is very tasty and healthy. I would try it if offered, but cooked liver has me gagging unless it's turned into jerky.

Just hunt, bro, or find a guy who does hunt. Most people leave their deer's liver in the woods.

always test it raw before buying, ask the butcher, if there's even a hint of a bitter taste don't buy it, beside that it's preference coocked or not

There's not a single one that's selling grass fed non-vaccinated organic meat where I live and they would absolutely label it as such if they could.

yeah that's why i don't get it anymore, muscle meat much more safe on the matter of drus and diet of the animals, not much beside more fat gets into that, but i def get grass fed/finished when i can

they just put a tiny amount of viral particles and some adjuvants into them
time + mass + digestion means that there's frick all of the adjuvants left in what you're eating, you're probably more likely to suffer from trace arsenic from the soil or some shit

I prepared it by frying in onions and butter for about 8 minutes. Was still slightly red in the centre, like a medium done steak. I still didn't like the taste but I think that's par for the course with liver

Something a wise anon here recommend a while back is to soak it in salt water for a night. Then you can fry them or braise it or whatever. It makes it taste less strong

Just know that excessive liver consumption can cause Hypervitaminosis A which can cause hair loss

      Anonymous

I’m pretty sure that only comes from overdosing on supplements. Have you got a study?

        Anonymous

the studies by nature of how a study can even be conducted are all on supplements, it's probably less peoblematic on actual liver but an excess of it i wpuld imagine leading to same results.
maybe you can't even forcefeed enough cow liver to go into vitA hypervitaminosis anyway, but it will have a cumulative effect over time for sure.
i eat a lot of liver at the start of flu season for vitA-D buildup just in case.

          Anonymous

I’m afraid I would have to see studies on people eating liver before saying that liver would harm you from eating too much Vitamin A. Natural supplemtation > Synthetic supplementation

            Anonymous

yeah, that's what i said, but the studies usually try to isolate vitA as a variable so one could extrapolate, i agree with the fact that there are too many confounds.
            what i go by is
            >want liver
            >tastes good
            need liver, eat some
            >don't want liver
            don't need it
            >first few bites tastes good, then kinda off
            had enough

not saying just "trust your guts", your guts are moronic and have been fricked over since you were born, you need to train them before you can trust them.

I've eaten polar bear meat and it was a trip how much it tasted like liver. I guess the whole animal is saturated with vitamin a and whatever else makes liver taste the way it do.

Kidneys filter. Liver purifies. it's probably the cleanest organ in the body.

No they're not. A filter separates two things. To purify something is to remove x unwanted element from the bulk. An air filter will filter and purify viruses from the air. Ethanol and chlorine will purify a surface from viruses, but not filter them. The liver does not filter anything, it chemically deactivates it.
