Explain how this is bad for me again

IST told me that:

Organ meats: Good
Salt: Good
Using very part of the animal: good
Saturated fat: Good

So explain why this is bad for me again.

Nitrites (or nitrates?) Idk. And the Bun is high GI.

Also processed meats appear to be carcinogenic, though no one I've talked to can exactly explain why.

A flex: I took a public health study design course from the first person to punish the processed meat-cancer connection

*publish. Anway, she didn't know why they were carcinogenic either

zero proof of that. Correlation is not causation

        Anonymous__

Its not incontrovertible evidence, but its not nothing either. Correlation once controlled for the obvious confounders is usually correlation.

          Lol is usually causation.

Its the same type of evidence that shows smoking causes kung Cancer, though tby the effect size is much smaller

Yes. That's one of the things you control for in these big cohort studies.

The real stuff you cant control for are intangibles, like how much if a liar you are when filling out a food frequency questionnaire, or how much unmeasured health risk you're taking elsewhere in your life. The obvious stuff like reported diet, smoking, BMI etc all gets controlled for.

Its also kind of suspicious that processed meat is associated with colon cancer. If it was lung cancer or something I'd be tempted to say that hotdog eaters just lie more about whether they smoke. But its telling that its the sort of cancer that would make sense for food to cause.
I also don't really care about colon cancer because the risk is basically zero if you get regular colonoscopies. But something I've learned from studying chronic disease is that if an exposure causes cancer, it probably causes a bunch of other shitty things that are harder to measure.
Medicine is pretty good at finding causes of hard outcomes like heart attacks or cancer and bad at finding more subjective outcomes like cognitive and physical decline. If something causes cancer in an an organ, its usually a safe assumption that it fricks up a bunch of other stuff in that organ as well.

That's why don't eat hot dogs except on special occasions.

I tried the walhburger dogs at Lidl last week. Had a good bite, half the sodium and only 100 calories. Seems like saturated fat and protein was pretty fair, too.
Put em on an egg white tortilla and went to town.
Can't find em no more though. Even their website doesn't show em in stores.

    >wahh muh cancer
    >I'm gonna miss out on things I like just so I can end up with the same result as everyone else, but 10 years later.
Cancer is growing faster because of all the steroids they pump into animals and gmos. If you eat beef or chicken at all, even farmed shrimp and fish, you are fricked.

Just let it happen bro, how do you want to die? Cancer while you're still decently active or when you're 100 years old and have sores and open wounds all over your body from not being able to move in your bed? Everyone dies. We begin dying from the moment we take our first breath. There is no beating the grim reaper and you only avoid the inevitable while suffering for longer than necessary.

Give me the young death and let me eat some frickin hotdogs.
