Ken did literally nothing wrong except celebrate before his victory was secured.

I saw it with my fiancée who has been looking forward to the movie for months and desperately needed a win, so I kept my opinion to myself, but it’s got a very skewed message for men/women in the audience.

        >women: you can be anything you want, don’t let men decide for you
        Okay, sure.
        >men: be grateful we let you exist as second class citizens, say thank you for whatever scraps we throw your way, and never try to rise above your station.
        Fricking stupid.

But since it’s a movie for girls and I doubt they’ll read into it beyond surface level, they can have this one.

that might be the message of the movie but it unironically made me more proud to be a guy, especially the scenes that were supposed to joke about how men have it better in the real world

It goes over some heads, but it's also a moronic perspective. Men and women face unique challenges in the modern world, and while women get top billing for correcting those problems, men do not because of historical male domination that no longer influences the well-being of most men.

              >women couldn't have a bank account two generations ago
False. Women have had accounts, owned businesses, held property in their own names, since at least the 18th century in colonial America. The number of woman owned taverns and boarding houses was quite considerable, if you need examples.

              Pic unrelated

A woman was almost elected president and plenty of women are on the Supreme Court. Women in the real world have the power the Barbies claim they don't. And even if they didn't why is Barbie world treating Ken's as Second class citizens regardless? It's like a revenge thing but shouldn't you be the change you want to see? If anything they should have made things equal in Barbie world to have the positive message that both sexs can get along and be fair to inspire its audience. Why leave the film on a message of separation, women feel good you get to treat your other halves as slaves in a movie and men feel bad we would treat you like shit if we had all the power.

It's nonsensical to try to attribute that kind of subtlety to a movie that trots out America Ferreira to do her usual bit of bludgeoning the viewer over the head with a bullet-pointed list of the movie's "message" in monologue format as hard as possible.
And if that *was* on their minds as a point, they undercut it completely when they played the lack of an actual feminist-nightmare Patriarchy IRL for laughs. Ken fills his head with feminist Theory ideas about how the world works and the very next thing that happens to him is getting treated like a crazy person by an established female Doctor when he tries to put it into practice. The scene simply would not be funny if the viewer harbored the notion that Women were *actually* second-class citizens in the real world we live in in their heads.

            >do you think perhaps this was their intent? to make men come away thinking this was an incredibly unfair deal, then perhaps realize that this is how we treat women in society?
My gf has basically said this to me, and there's some heavy-handed narration at the end of the movie that says something to the effect of
            >the kens will be treated more equally when women in the real world are treated equally
which would sound nice except the kens are drastically less equal than real women. This is exemplified by a scene where the barbies are taking back control of the government and one of the ken asks, "could we have just ONE supreme court justice?" and the barbies tell him to go frick himself. Meanwhile, in the real world, we had the first women on the supreme court over 40 years ago. The kens are homeless, for frick's sake.

The movie can't decide if barbieland is supposed to be an analogy for the real world or a silly fantasyland and trying to have it both ways at once makes all the awkward preaching hard to take seriously.

          Anonymous

It was a movie for moms and their daughters.
The real way to interpret the movie is that Ken after discovering the realities of the world, and how everything is made up by the strongest, returns to Barbieland and creates his own values and imposes them on others. It was a good move, everyone was happy when he was in power. Only after Barbie kidnapped and brainwashed other Barbies they started hating Ken.

mRNA is just an intermediate step in protein synthesis. The vaccine is just doing what a normal vaccine would do, but skipping the first step (where an immune response is provoked by an antigen) because you cannot get any information into the cell except by mRNA. Like how LDOPA is one of the only ways you can get dopamine across the blood-brain barrier, mRNA is one of the only ways you can get
IDK why everyone pretends they are a molecular biologist all of the sudden. mRNA doesn't alter the genome, its part of protein synthesis.

the way i see it is that that movie is about balance that is almost unachievable, in barbie world women are the rulers and they cannot take it be any other way around -- it is a basic human flaw. it parallels with the real world where man don't want to 'lose' control and allow qualified women into certain positions because muh patriarchy. on hte example of brainwashed barbies doing whatever Kens want they show the current brainwashing in our society of forced diversity by any means and how a lot of people simply follow this stupidity without a thought in their mind, but it is shown in negative light, something that must be changed. i dont get how you morons see the movie (most dont even bother to do that) and say some bs about barbie world being shown as an ideal world when it is exactly what our world and society is being criticised for.
in the end, i see barbie as a dommeresque critique of our society where actual positive and somewhat radical change is perceived as impossible. not some 'women rule and men bed' bs you want it to be.

            >in barbie world women are the rulers and they cannot take it be any other way around
In barbie world all the women are instantly thrilled to be "under" Patriarchy the minute someone else tells them to be and equally thrilled to be back in charge when a different someone else comes along to tell them that's what they should want instead. Only the Kens are ever shown to be capable of being discontent in spite of what another person tells them they should want and enjoy.

The movie is unintentionally redpilled, seems obvious to me but because it was written and likely proof read by women so
              it never occurred to them.

you're wrong. almost all Kens are content in being accessories to Barbies, only one finds that it's not that good. same way as only a handful of Barbies find it impossible to live under Kens 'patriarchy'. Kens love to be under Barbies, it's exactly the same as all redpillers same about women. and kens according to thw hole doll canon actually are supposed to be nothing more than mere accessories to Barbies, same as it is believed women are to men in our world.

                >In barbie world all the women are instantly thrilled to be "under" Patriarchy the minute someone else tells them to be and equally thrilled to be back in charge when a different someone else comes
exactly as the vast majority of Kens. Ryan Gosling came and said patriarchy is cool we are kangz and they became redpilled morons, Barbie Margo came and said actually no, we are the best but you are *kenough* and they started thinking that they don't need shit in terms of equal rights since they are *kenough*

                >Only the Kens are ever shown to be capable of being discontent in spite of what another person tells them they should want and enjoy
if that was true, then there would never be the overthrowing of Kentriarchy and there would be no return to Barbies ruling Barbie world. do you even read what you write you moron?

yeah this was my interpretation. It felt odd though and took me a day to get there. With how explicit all the characters were when complaining about their lives, you’d think they could have made the resolution more obvious for morons like me.
But like one anon said, it feels two generations late.
Also none of the human characters needed to be there

Tbh it wouldn't have been as well received two generations earlier. I think it would have become a cult classic like the Rocky Horror Picture Show since the culture at the time would have openly mocked it for being gay.

Yeah for sure. That’s why it’s weird. The movie broadcasts too many messages all at once and doesn’t synthesize them very well in the end IMO. And the plot point where Ken goes to the real world and somehow interprets it as an oppressive patriarchy sours those messages because that’s just not the way things are anymore

The rant about what women face can almost literally apply to men as well
Just replace every instance of "Women" with "Men"
Only the topics such as being "thin" or too "thin" don't really apply to men
The issues men and women face in this film are only relatable to insecure people who lack a strong foundation in christ
For sure a contender for the most pointless film of the Year award
And remember, self-love is a meme

Dang, you're so cool and alpha. You're totally not just some loser who's too afraid to go to the movie by himself because he has no one that will go with him

        Hey morons...

I heard in the movie Barbie lives in a Barbie World where men are himbo slaves of women.
But then their Barbie World becomes corrupted by some irl little girl finding out about patriarchy.
So Barbie goes into the real world to investigate and Ken decides patriarchy is cool and introduces it to the Barbie World.
Then Barbie overthrows Ken and the Barbie girls take over the Supreme Court and laugh at the boys for thinking they should be represented on it too and say that maybe they'll allow men to have some seats on lower courts.
This is actual stuff in an actual movie.

Hollywood telling you women are right, ever, is a psyop, always.

In real life hardly anyone even talks about it anymore. Normal people are capable of moving on. It’s a good reminder that this place (and the rest of the internet) do not really reflect the real world. I think a lot of people just use for IST to express the edgy stuff they’re too scared to say out loud. It’s fun sometimes, but it’s not real. I don’t think people even really believe the stuff they post here most of the time. I just hope that through all the ragebait and the shitposts that these anons know deep down that they truly are Kenough.
