This is valid though, but there's nothing wrong with forward knee travel either. Just depends on what muscular emphasis you want, and what technique you prefer. I prefer having forward knee travel because I get a very balanced quad/glute stimulus, and it feels better for my build, so I do it.

I do weighted sissy squats with ridiculous amounts of forward knee travel, and my knees haven't exploded. I can do pretty much whatever the hell I want and I don't get any knee pain or tendon degeneration because I've strengthened the tendons/ligaments by not being a dumbass. Just start light, control the eccentric instead of divebombing, and don't egolift, and you'll be fine lol
