Would there be a benefit to a gym that requires a verified lifter certification?
Essentially there would be different certifications you could get but for minimum verification you'd have to send a video of yourself doing a proper rep of either
>1pl8 OHP
>2pl8 Bench Press
>3pl8 Squat
Or
>4pl8 Deadlift
There could be other verifications for non lifters such as
>6min mile
>10 pull ups
>15 dips
Essentially. To get access to this gym, you'll have to prove you have an above minimum fitness level. This would weed all of the resolutioners, old people, fat people basically undesirables at the gym. Leaving only people who are really into fitness
The gym could have uncommon premium equipment, large amounts of rack space. And with the elusivity, you'll always be able to work out without having to wait for a bench.
I could see the concept losing money at first, but once word spreads of a gym where you don't have to deal with the bullshit, I could see a lot of people flocking and applying to such a gym

6 minute mile is literally super human.
I think you mean 9 minute mile.
I'm not a runner but I always heard 6 is the gold standard for runners, maybe 7 or 730 then. If you're a dedicated runner, then you should be running faster than a 9min mile
I bet you can't run a 10 minute mile
I'm not a dedicated runner but I've run an 8 minute mile
Go put your tread mill on 7.5 and run for 8 minutes straight, I doubt you can.
I literally have... why are you acting like an 8min mile is so impressive? In highschool 8 minutes would be an A and 10 would be a B. Are you fat or something?
>fatty is mindblown normal people can casually run an 8 min mile
Reminder that these clueless lardasses are who you share this board with
Dude you are moronic or fat. I hardly ever do cardio but when I do I run a mile while inattentively watching a show in like 9 minutes. Like once every few months. 9 minute mile is normal for any healthy male, its not impressive at all.
>6 min mile = super human
9 minute mile can be achieved by the average healthy weight adult who runs for a month or 2 lmao
I have strength cape on osrs. Will that get me in?
Unfortunately videogame stats aren't real stats, but thats where I got the idea from.
Like how at the mining guild there's a runite ore exclusive for guild members. Makes it much more convenient for advanced miners to get that ore, rather than go to the wilderness
Sadly the people who buy a membership and never go is a big way gyms make their money. Why do you care if a resolution maker buys a membership and never comes?
Because it ruins the gym experience for members during those first 2 months of the year
I understand the business model doesn't look profitable at first, especially when you lose those low impact members. But with better equipment, exclusivity, and a slightly higher than normal membership cost you could eventually offset the lack of fat do nothingners with a group of dedicated members
Also once the news outlets start reporting the seething of normies being barred from the gym do to the lack of credentials, you'll get free viral advertising for at least a month
I think exclusive gyms already exist, typically on a recommendation basis. So even if someone is out of shape but they’re a good dude they’ll get in
can we have leagues irl instead? 8x gains with relics would be pretty nice.
I can't make magic happen anon. Fitness gear with real lift stats would be so cool though (until capitalism ruins it)
I’ve been seeing these videos lately where they ask a random person “how much can you bench?”
>oh ok let’s go right around the corner here where I have a weight rack and if you can bench 225 I’ll give you 225$
It made me realize how much people lie/embellish. Some way to verify weights for shirts or whatever could be fun
If I owned a gym I'd totally do that.
>you can call a PT or manager over to watch you bench 225
>if you get it up you get a free gym shirt that says "verified bench 225"
I think a lot of that phenomenon is just people typing in their 8 rep bench max into a calculator and seeing "lol it says I can bench 225 for 1". Your body needs to be used to a full effort 1rm to even have a shot of getting it.
Nah it's just a bunch of E stats. If you ask a guy his wiener size it's the same thing.
>Oh I'm 8inches
>Ok well we have a licensed doctor on site who will measure you right now
I think vice did a performance piece about guys reporting their wiener size and their actual wiener size and the actual wiener size was smaller for all of them
So it has nothing to do with calculators. Guys will straight up lie and tell you what they think in their head is a respectable number
E stats? The world is more complicated than you think it is. You can't just coorelate results to a single thing. Soooooo many things go into those results lmao
That's what I'm saying. Guys are lying when they think you won't test them or call them out on it. Unless you've actually benched 225 on a real bench setup, saying you could bench 225 based on a calculator or "I could probably do it if I tried hard enough" is just an E stat and should be disregarded
Gyms, especially ones with expensive equipment, are basically reliant upon having far more members sign up and pay monthly than actually use the gym. But these types of gyms do exist they just aren't for the general public, they are for strength athletes or actual athletes. Joe Defranco's gym comes to mind or Westside Barbell.
>allow only 50% of customer base
>automatically doubles the fee for members
>members need regular tests or their card is revoked. Sorry if you got injured and can’t squat for 3 months
>premium equipment = premium prices
>still have to share the squat racks
You’re thinking of private clubs. Clubs are not a business they are a means of socializing and networking. In your case it’d quickly devolve into a pregame spot for gay orgies I reckon
dyels and other lazy gym skippers pay their dues and don't use the equipment as much as dedicated lifters do so they are essentially subsidizing your membership too. At some gyms there is premium equipment that is locked away from the riffraff and the owner will usually only give keys to people who earned it but it's closer to 2/3/4/5 than 1/2/3/4.
This is a good alternative too. A gym that is 25% for the general public with 75% of the gym for experienced lifters only
How much should you be able to lift to get the Strength Cape IRL?
