For years it was said one glass of red wine a night was healthy for you. Now I see very recent studies that claim any amount of alcohol is bad for you. What’s true?

6-8 drinks a day is good for you. Anything less is harmful to your heart.
read Plutarchs biogrpahy on Cato the Elder if you are concerned about this. Dude lifted everyday and often drank wine everyday (some nights none some nights weak wine and some nights strong wine) and he lived to 90 plus his secret was legit lifting and eating good the wine was just an added bonus for when he was with friends. Enjoy life loser stop worrying about shit
The actual truth is no alcohol is healthy for you. What people REALLY CARE ABOUT is the amount that won't harm your health much at all (there is a scaling relationship here between amount drank and health problems), which is approximately no more than 1-2 drinks in one day, with no more than 5-6 drinks in a week. But, if you have 6 drinks a week for 30 years, you will be roughly in the same shape as someone w/ full blown alcoholism for a couple years (which is a dangerously unhealthy place to be at).

Everything has a price, think of chemicals like levers. Something goes up, something goes down. Wine lowers blood pressure and wine drinkers seem to have lower all cause mortality, but there's also data that shows alcohol drinkers in general get more cancer that abstainers. So who knows man, just enjoy your life.
>wine drinkers lower mortality
To be fair that seems more of a correlation. People who drink wine regularly are likely to have more money.
those studies say that because people who actually only drink a single glass of wine tend to be very healthy in other aspects of their lives.
no amount of alcohol is GOOD FOR YOU, but in strict moderation it’s not going to do much harm either.
The antioxidants are good but the alcohol in it is bad. You can get antioxidants from other sources without the down sides though. What's hard to understand about that?
Women who drink wine often throw off their internal flora = stank puss.
>your ability to socialize and express emotions with the help of a couple drinks
vs
>your ability to do that without alcohol, and the long term effects of crippled socializing and emotional repression
really no question, total abstinance is self-torture, a slow death and steady transformation into a hollow misanthrope.
Alcohol is a carcinogen. But so is the sun.
Alcohol has proven to be a carcinogen and cause several types of cancers.
Some wines have a good source of antioxidants, specifically in red wine, but you can easily match that amount with tons of other foods like berries, beans, pecans, and so many more just with a basic clean diet.
People need a reason to pass off their reasonings as funny or passively legit just to drink. They can't admit it is an escape and they use any bit of psychological ammo they can muster to make the excuse go down.
Go outside a bit each day, be a bit more active, eat whole or simple foods, sleep, and relax. You won't need alcohol as much if you follow this
Most alcohol is low quality pesticide ridden sulphite infused slop
Drink your sulfates dear, they're from Napa Valley 2016
