Formerly fat fitizens, what did it?

My phones face recognition has increasingly started failing lately, and the only thing I can think of is it’s because of weight gain. That’s fricking grim. I’m a fat frick so I won’t lie to you and say this is it, I’m fixing it now, but damn it certainly is a push in the right direction. Fat bros, what pushed YOU over the edge?

Deteriorating health at the ripe age of 26 made me do it. I'm still losing the weight, gained some muscle. Counting calories is the only way.

      >Deteriorating health
This did it for me. I hit 30 and was while pretty successful, I was weak and had a slipped disc, started drinking too much....had a moment of realization that my 30s were shaping up to be the best time of my life (GF, good job, great place to live, etc) and I was squandering it like crazy.
Took a lot of working out but now I'm more energetic/flexible/stronger than I was even in my teens. It took a few years to get the drinking under control and my weight down (had a few starts and stops and regains), but now I'm essentially super health and fit.
All the generic "when you get old you start having issues" is plain false. It's moreso that the accumulation of a shitty lifestyle takes until about your 30s before it starts rearing it's ugly head, but the whole time you've been damaging your body.

I think 30s are where you finally start living life the way your supposed to, or start completely self destructing and fricking die.
Supposed it's in a large part how well youre set up after your 20s.

I think I can say I’m in a similar boat, now on the wrong end of 35 and have all the markers for “success” you’d expect, the house the car the career. But I feel worse than I ever have, and it’s a struggle just to lug myself around day to day. Frick me, like, I would never have in my life imagined that putting on winter boots would leave me feeling like I was in a fight for my life. It’s really quite despicable. No respectable woman would ever.

2020. I was worked up about covid, the riots, the election, etc and had started preparing for shit to kick off. I was browsing either /misc/ or /k/ when someone posted something about how people like me were wasting their time buying supplies and gear and shit when I couldnt even run a mile. I considered it and realized that it was true. I took a look in the mirror and realized just how much weight I had gained over the years. I was embarrassed and ashamed, so I dropped about 60 lbs. Thanks, based anon, whoever you are.

i gained a load of weight, like 35kg, during covid. I was a reasonably good looking guy before and I got attention from women. that all stopped.

I went travelling with my girlfriend during this time, and when I was back home and looking at all the pictures we took together, all I could see in each picture was this beautiful girl next to this gross, ugly slob of a man who I didn't even recognise. I couldn't bear to so much as look at them.

I'm down 25kg now, another 10 to go.

My wife left me for her 'work husband'. She got the kids and the dog, had to sell the house. I wound up in an efficiency apartment where I finally hit rock bottom.

I have no chin and no jaw, so I to have a somewhat acceptable face my BMI needs to be always under 18
My brother, who has a chin and a jaw, is obese and his face looks leaner than mine.

Got around mid 30's with persistent low back pain, watching friends around the same age get sicker and sicker.

I turned it all around, lost 100+ lbs, haven't had a significant back episode in almost 5 years.

I've gained a bit back, but, I'm going to get back on track.

I was a 320lb jobless NEET at 28yrs old. I woke up in a panic and felt compelled to unfrick my life but had very few options since id never had a job and had no idea how to get one that wasn't the worst sort of retail hell. I settled on the air force and had to get below 202lbs to enlist (6yrs later, now at a roided 220)

ive lost substantial weight twice in my life

i was an obese child and it crippled my self-esteem growing up. i have a picture of myself at 10 years old looking about twice as big as other kids my age, wearing XL adult shirts with ease.

I mentally think of that picture whenever I want to eat something and my appetite disappears. I do not want to be on the statistics of obese men who are obese because they were obese children. shame, guilt, regret, etc. are incredibly powerful motivators. but motivation does nothing if you don't have the discipline to go to the gym.

    >cave in after a while of my L shirts rubbing against my chest and deciding to go for XL even though it’s way to big for me
    >6 months later i realize im thinking the exact same thing as my XL shirts are starting to get tighter and I’m looking at 2XL
That didn’t tip the scales and push me to start weight lifting but I realized I was fricked and had to lose weight
