Four months. Four fucking months I've spent following guides, reading routines online, and hitting the gym.

Four months. Four fricking months I've spent following guides, reading routines online, and hitting the gym. I've read threads on here for years and decided to finally get serious about getting in shape, and this is the shit it gets me after four weeks of on-and-off working out? You clowns don't know what the frick you're talking about clearly and now I'm left trying to fix a dirty bulk that made working out hell. Does anyone have any recommendations for making the best out of it that DOES NOT include cardio and minimal lifting (bad shoulders, non-negotiable). Pic related.

I will give you honest advice, if you want to lose weight and get a toned body you need to eat less, hit your protein goals, eat good nutritional food (not processed) and mostly veggies.
Then if you want a toned body you NEED to do cardio, running is the best for a toned body, look at football/soccer players, they all have toned bodies. So go run 3 times a week for about 30 minutes, not more. Then when you've lost enough weight you can start eating normally. Do all of this while working out, bodyweight exercises are the best, push yourself until your muscles literally can't do more. And don't for get to get GOOD QUALITY sleep, it's not about the hours, it's about good quality. And now that's how you build a good body.

I could go into much more detail on it, but that's the BASICS of a good body. Now get at it and stop whining, it's not easy but that's also why it's so rewarding, you will look like a god amongst all other average men, let that be your motivation.

You are on IST bro. Try to at least workout for legs if upper body cant be worked. You really need the test boost.

          Thanks bro, what would recommend?

            Anonymous

Well, if you lift on leg day with proper intensity then one leg day a week should be fairly sufficient to stimulate leg growth. When the whole focuse is legs you can also do two seperate workouts focusing wither front or back of the legs. Just start with compounds, finish isolations and then do them with high intensity and you'll get benefits of growth.

It all depends on where you start but that isn't bad for four months, especially since you've stated you've not been power lifting. I'd suggest doing a cut to shed the excess weight and if you can't sort your shoulder problems try and find exercises that work around them. Your instance on not doing cardio is just wrong though, like a diet you need varied exercise, its like saying recommend a good diet that doesn't involve Protein.

As I mentioned in the OP, I've on the recovery half of a dirty bulk. With the added weight, any cardio I do makes me sweat immensely and feel like vomiting almost immediately so I'm looking to avoid it.

Do couch to 5k, hands down the best cardio routine there is to get back into it. I had childhood asthma and lost it from doing interval running.

the vomiting feeling means you went too hard for your current fitness level. look to get to the "blood taste in your mouth" as an indicator as to when your session was okay. And deal with the sweat lmao

I have bad shoulders as well. Lat raises and bench press put me out of commission for like a week if I'm pushing it. What exactly is wrong with your shoulders? May want to get that checked/go to physical therapy.

For some reason, dumbbell press and front lat raises don't bother my shoulders. Maybe you need to find the right exercises.

Also, a thing about lifting is that your muscles aren't always the bottleneck for how much you can lift. There's a bunch of other shit that goes into it like tendons and ligaments etc. You might want to start with very light weight on exercises that are bothering you.

And frick, maybe all of this doesn't apply because your shoulder(s) are fricked (except physical therapy) but that's my two cents

Also, natty there is no way in hell you are going to see your gains over 4 weeks. Since you're bulking it probably just looks like you gained weight. But bulking is the fastest way to gain muscle. You don't necessarily need to bulk to build muscle but it will happen more slowly. Either way, it's a marathon, not a sprint

Your BF is too high to see any results. Try counting calories and going on a clean cut for a few weeks and report back. Eat high protein, moderate carbs and fat. Cut out the processed garbage and alcohol entirely (phase it out of your diet for a couple weeks and then eat as clean as possible for a few more). Drink nothing but water – and a shitton of it. If you're drinking caffeine for energy, cut back or cut it out if you can.

Focus on a hobby that doesn't involve a screen or learn something new for mental self-improvement and spend less time online for that first bit of detoxing. Go outside and get some sun. Once you've lost some fat, you can see better what you're working with.

If you've got injuries, you can improve slightly with mobility training. If you have the ability, get a physio referral. They do wonders!
