Seriously frick this shitty exercise. You may call me a fat frick or a dyel I don't give a shit anymore. I've done every grip and every variation of it including negatives, banded, assisted, etc. and still can't do more than 2 in a row. All that this shitty exercise has done for me is give me awful, week lasting DOM and demotivate me severely, also got 0 back gains only until I started deadlifting heavy. I will just stick to Lat Pulldowns for now just to have vertical pulling in my workout, I may not ever look as cool as doing weighted pullups but at least I will stick to this.
Just do inverted rows( australian pull ups) they are Very easy and train your back well for the main exercise
>still can't do more than 2 in a row
You probably have trash genetics. Even without training I could do at least 8-10 in the beginning
Lol dude he's just fat and with no back musculature
You ain’t tough. You just a b***h.
I played gears of War once and every time I fell down Dom said WORK THROUGH THE PAIN.
Idk what your problem is but maybe you're not listening.
Frick bros, I just want to stick a gnasher into some locust guts. Anyone know these feels?
you too huh, thats like the only line i remember from the first game.
If you can do two, over the course of one hour I bet you could do 30 or 40. Just the fact that you can do one or two legit pull ups shows that you have the necessary power. What you don't have is the skill i.e. you suck at pull ups. As with any skill, repetition is key. Set yourself a goal, for example 30. And do 30 pull ups however long it takes.
I used to be like you, I could do 2 very good pull ups but then I'd run out of gas.
Then I decided I'll do 30. It took me probably two hours but I did it.Then it took me about a week to recover, the DOMS were ridiculous. After I recovered, I could easily do 8-10 in a row.
>If you can do two, over the course of one hour I bet you could do 30 or 40
I do two and after that all my pullups will be half assed ones to the point where I can't pull myself up at all anymore until a week's rest.
It is because you are a pathetic example of a man
Same goes for negatives. I will just jump and fall flat in hanging position, usually hurting my shoulders in the process
Then you need to do more negatives. Even if those are modified negatives. If your gym has a pullup assistance machine, that's even better, but a lat pulldown machine is suitable. If you can currently only do 2 real pullups, then do 3-5 single pullups, with 3-5 minutes of rest in between. Then train your back using either a lat pulldown machine or the assisted pullup machine (preferably) using a weight where you can do an honest to goodness, perfect form repetition for 15 or more repetitions. Then slowly change the load with each gym session. When you are strong enough to do multiple slow negatives, start replacing one set of lat pullbdowns/pullup machine training with negatives. When you can do 10 strict negatives consistently, start pausing them 1/3rd of the way down. Then half way down. Then 2/3rds ofbthe way down. Then all three pauses. Then work on the pullup portion.
Do this or grease the groove. Pullups are a weird.exercise though, like if I so much as look at a weight before starting pullups I can only do half as many as if I do them first. I don't get this from anything else.
Same here. I’ve been able to get over 20 in one set and the next week give up at 15. It’s easy to psyche yourself out with them. I now exclusively do them at the end so all that matters of how the last rep feels and not the rep total.
It's fine bro, you'll get them eventually. For reference I did sets of 5 on Monday but today I tried doing them after snatches, c&js, push press and OHP and barely did 2 before I pussied and grabbed the band. Do what said.
you must be below 80 to post here sir.
Lol get gud.
But fr though, maybe do Pull-Ups or chin-ups at the beginning of your workouts so your more fresh
people who cant do pull ups is so weird to me like in the same way some people didnt learn to Swim, some people didnt learn how to "pull themselves up" like did you even climb shit as a child? Climb up a tree branch or whatever, on to your roof or fence? Its likean inherent survival skill I dont get it
I had an overprotective mother who woulnd't let me do dangerous stuff and father was to pussy to step up
>waaa why my useless muscles get filtered waaaa
You should hang a lot to build up grip and forearm strength. Once you have that good base, it'll be easier to just do pull ups.
Just did 16 controlled pull ups in a row from dead hang to chest level, stop being fat
I'm weak and look comically small but I can rep out 8-10 per set indefinitely
how could a grown adult possibly be so weak as to not be able to do 5+?
i would actually do pull ups daily if i could but i have to take days off because of painful calluses
brother google 'greasing the groove' and do that
trust me you'll skyrocket up to 10+ pull-ups rather quickly
you must either be a skelly or a fat frick
what's your bodyweight and bmi? this is only a problem for people with bmi over 25 ime
Next time you do them do as many as you can until failure, then stand on a box and partially support your weight and do some more.
>can't do more than 2 in a row
I can't do 1. I do a bunch of accessories work like kneeling lat pulldowns that involve the core and 5x5 negatives. I've been trying in earnest for about 6 weeks, they're so fricking hard man. I won't give up, nor should you. Don't let me overtake you WAGMI
how much do you weigh?
182lbs, 188cm, blonde hair, blue eyes. The Artist's wet dream
have you tried just setting up a chair next to your pullup bar and spamming negatives? luckily you aren't too heavy
I'm not sure how you're and eye color are relevant here though, and what artists?
Yeah I hit negatives twice a week on back day like I said here
THE Artist, not "artists". I mean The Painter. The fella with only 1 testical.
just give it time , consistency is key, when i started i was 290 lbs , couldnt do 1, i did negatives basically every day for like 6 months, then i could do 1, and after doing 1 rep for like 20 for 3 months i could do 2 , + 1 years later i can do 6 at the same weight (250lbs bw +50lbs ) , increasing the number of total reps per day helped me the most , even if it took 15 minutes+ to recover
yeah im noob and this shit is hard cant do 1 pullup yet
Pull-ups are one of the hardest exercises for newbies like you to actually do. Give yourself time to develop strength and lose unnecessary weight. Stop b***hing.
I could hardly bend my elbows trying to do 1, got deadlift from 315->405+ and lost ~15lbs in about 12 weeks, did kneeling lat pulldowns after deadlifts, then after this I could do about 3.5 and I just did chin ups a bunch from there while cutting until I eventually reached 10+
i do 30 singles
This is what I did but I said frick it and stopped caring about being sore
Use goddamn bands! Do slowly but many, will improve your form and endurance.
And negatives also yes, chair assisted would do too.
Same. Lat pulldowns & barbell rows on my chest. Australian pull ups are fine though.
