Game Changers

Holy frick, being able to accurately see your heart rate at any moment is a fricking game changer for both lifting and cardio.
Picrel was one of the best purchases of my entire life.
Post stuff you consider game changing for anyone who lifts, IST. Anything goes.

Because I do cardio and want to know if I'm making anaerobic and aerobic gains so I monitor my heart rate.

              Sure.

The more you train in the anaerobic or v02 max zone, the more you'll develop tolerance to lactic fatigue and can better distribute oxygen to your muscles. This requires that you know your maximum heart rate and what 80% and 90% of that is so you can push yourself to that zone. You won't always be able to know because as you get more efficient at any movement, it will take less effort and keep you at a lower zone. Unless of course you buy a reliable heart rate monitor.

Why do you need a fricking heart monitor? What % benefit do you get by being autistic? You can just get the feel and do it like a not huge homosexual does it. Very little gain to be had for optimizing except a waste of time and money.

Not going to comment on why other anon needs one but I've been using them for 30+ years and they are useful at all levels of endurance sport/training if used properly - from shufflers / weekend warriors up to elite. As ever, you get out of them what you put in and they are not absolutely necessary.

I will agree that a lot of functions are of questionable utility and most likely exist due to feature wars.

btw stopping to take your pulse rate isn't particularly accurate - it slows when you stop, the rate of slowing increasing as you get fitter.

nta but the data is useless
you aren't an elite athlete so optimizing training isn't going to do anything for you that running doesn't already do
additionally what even is there to optimize with heart rate?
you can tell if you have a high heart rate or not, knowing the specific numbers will have no more bearing over your training than having the rough estimates of low/average/high heart rate

so you just show up at the gym, close your eyes and randomly choose an equipment, then do a complete random amount of sets and reps?
you know if you are following some strict routine, you are optimizing your workout already, right?
why does it make you so mad that people are trying to optimize their cardiovascular gains too?

I'm getting an oxygen concentration machine next week. I'll be breathing in purified oxygen to reduce my migraine and chronic sinusitis induced states of hypoxia that happen every few months or depending on season.

I'm saving up to get septoplasty in a few months...Otherwise... I'd be glad to be given more recommendation on game changer tech.
I have the basic tech : sit/stand desk, yoga ball to sit, walking treadmill or bike under desk. I'm getting a red light therapy lamp in a few weeks..I do sauna 2-4 times a week for 10-15 mins. I also go to the spa and pool/gym.
My diet is pretty clean and decent. I'm looking more so for some mechanical tech that gives a good edge.

    Things I'm considering :
    >Room Air purifier + dehumidifier
    >spa bubble bath mat + air machine to do jacuzzi in my tub.

    Actual game changers:
    >Kitchen scales
    >Bathroom scales
    >Cronometer
    >TDEE Calculator (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shumate.tdeeCalculator)
This sorts out your diet, whether cutting, maintaining or bulking. No excuses. Tape measure and photos optional.
    >Google sheets (to track lifts)
    >Theraband (I had tennis elbow and this was a legit miracle)
    >18 eggs a day

Supplements (except whey and beef gelatin) have all been a waste of money. I will blast 60k IU if I feel I'm coming down with something though.

moronic. If you can't tell your heart bpm +/-5 within 5 seconds by taking your pulse you don't know your own body and will literally never make it.

This argument is always made by someone who puts the least amount of effort into his training, which is why he can't grasp the concept of tracking progress in maximum effort.

Pointless, you can either run the time or you can’t. Simple as.

Missing out on pronator gains. Tendonitis is a meme. I’ve ultimately trained through every tendon pain or inflammation I’ve ever had and eventually goes away permanently because it’s forced to adapt. Only take time off training if something is actually torn.

Is there software that just shows AND tracks your heart rate. I found apps that connect to the monitor and display the current value, and I found running apps that track your heart rate, and run distance and elevation and all that but that's overkill and the app is designed around run distance so it's a mess.

I just need a log and plot of my HR so I can track my cardio progress.

2 cooking tips that revolutionized my eggs and chicken:

scrambled eggs: add a dollop of cottage cheese to your beaten eggs. Keeps your eggs fluffy and moist. Add salt and they are the best scrambled eggs of your life. Not to mention even higher in protein because of the cottage cheese

chicken breast: pan fry in VINEGAR (not oil or butter), lemon juice, salt, and garlic powder. This produces super juicy, flavorful chicken every time.

From my reading and experience, being able to track your heart rate live is a good thing for a beginner, when you're still learning the feelings between zones. At higher levels, though it might still be useful, lactic acid monitoring becomes more valuable as a metric of performance. For all intents and purposes, HRV is a meme, unless you're in a professional context with all of the appropriate equipment to gauge it

I have a thread up, but nasal strips.
I’ve been using them for a day and holy frick I didn’t know what I was missing out on. For lack of better ability to concisely describe (or check the thread for my updates detailing this) I’ve essentially been living with breathing that’s like trying to take breaths in with a wet rag over your mouth and nose. Sleep made it way worse. My cardio has been shit and I would feel actually sick from running and jogging way earlier than I knew I should have where my body felt fine but I just wasn’t getting adequate air.
It’s all reversed. All the issues are gone from just wearing this strip on my nose at all times. My chronic runny nose is cured, my sleep is better, my energy is up, my anxiety is down, mental fog is gone, endurance seems to be getting back to normal, mood are better etc etc I just feel great.
Really excited to go jog or run with it on and see how that feels.

I stopped doing certain lifts because I suddenly felt sick the same as cardio, it felt like what I can only theorize is not enough O2 too much CO2 building up. Really eager to try those lifts again too.

You don't need some gay device. If your can hear something other than your heart rate, then it's not too high.
