Will fasting kill any strength I have? I have the willpower but I need my body for my job.
I just looked at myself in the mirror and I feel like fricking shit.

If you have the willpower why not just eat at a 500-1000 cal deficit for an extended period of time? That way you don't ruin your health and you get the same result

I'm going to be completely real with you it's because I want results as quickly as I can, I want abs for this summer
I lost a similar amount of weight in high school through fasting but at the time I wasn't doing any sports, so I didn't even think about the strength I was losing
And before you ask how I gained it back I blame light beer.

        >I have the willpower but I need my body for my job.

Try fasting only on Friday and Saturday, then.

Multiday fasts aren't for the last few pounds. They start taking more and more from your muscle. They're for the first hundred or fifty or thirty pounds.

Will do, intermittent fasting and a small calorie deficit along with going to the gym seems like the smartest thing to do. I'm also going to have to cut alcohol, my problem is that whenever I drink I get the munchies

Frick off college boy, being in the trades isn't so bad. At least I have a job unlike most of the people I know that went to college.

I made more at my starting salary than you ever will in your life and you will ruin your body by doing it. In 60 years i can look back on a long, happy retirement, and you will have been dead for over a decade

and all that just because you didn't want to pay attention in school lol

if there are any adult stem classes near you, apply before it's too late

Anon, I'm 6'1 and was 240 lbs last September. Decided to lose some weight through just diet. I got to about 230 lbs tracking my diet (calories and general macros), but that stagnated in late October with parties.

Started a body recomposition challenge with the help of my friend this year on Jan. 3rd on a complete whim. I've dropped from 26% body fat to 22% in 6 weeks. I've gained 2 lbs of dry lean mass and lost over 9 lbs of fat. I'm within a half pound of my starting weight of 233.2 lbs.

My mood and stress tolerance is immeasurably better. I went from being a nearly daily drinker (+4 beers a night) to only having a total of 12 beers this year so far. It has been worth all the changes I've had to implement to my diet and the amount of exercise I do. If you want to lose weight, I recommend you get your diet put together, get a workout buddy, and stick to a decent routine for several weeks while staying calorically balanced. If you like the working out, work through it for another few months to finish conditions and building good foundational muscle, then do your cut down to the weight you want to be.

Losing the weight by THIS summer is likely fairly ambitious. With commitment and dedication, you can absolutely shave 40-50 pounds over the next 12 months if you go the distance. I believe anon, you can do it.

Thanks bro, seriously it means a lot to me. I'm in a similar boat to you, 6 foot 235 and this is where I'm at now (Sorry for the shitty image). If I'm able to make progress I'll post an update in a cbt thread or something, it's been a long time since I've worked out but I'll do the best I can man. good luck on your journey as well.
