Gym Pricing

>want to go to 24/7 gym
>gym advertises as $15 a month
>go ask to pay for a year in cash
>"that'll be $270"
>ask what the extra 90 bucks is for
> "Oh its just extra for us, you know."
>leave

It's a regional chain, I'm thinking of just going later and trying to haggle them out of the additional fees but I don't know if that's something individual location employees have the discretion to enforce

Usually a yearly "gym fee" gets added outta nowhere. $90 seems a bit high but so does $15. Are they running a sale?

They are not, I found a breakdown and the additional $90 are listed as a "processing fee" for your RFID card (they use the tap ones and those cards cost less than 25 cents each) and a "price guarantee fee" which doesn't make sense because I'm buying a full term up front.

        Oh frick them.
I can clone an rfid card in 20 seconds.
I wouldn't deal with em at all. They'll frick you later.
I'm currently dealing with some BS on my for my personal training stuff. Just straight lied and have no where any of that shit is written down.

Yeah I just don't get the processing fees being so high. The said if I was willing to go to the "premium" package ($25 a month) that I could waive the processing fee and just pay the price guarantee fee, but it'd still cost even more and the only benefit for their premium is being able to go to all their other locations.

Pay for 11 months instead. Then repeat.

They'd still charge the additional $90.

I used to go to LifeTime but it's been infested with non-whites even with the prices doubling since I joined ($125 to $250 a month). It's entirely because they have both indoor and outdoor basketball courts.

I now pay $110/mo for unlimited CrossFit classes. We don't have any black people in my gym. There is one hispanic male and one asian female, but everyone else is white.

There aren't any other 24 hour gyms here, unfortunately

      I live in the US so that's a no-go

what kind of logic is that
that would disencourage people from a more expensive purchase
where I live the local 24/7 gyms offer a discount if you pay for a year up front

It's because they just decline to not tack on the extra $90 of unnecessary fees for whatever reason. For example, if I wanted to do a month-by-month plan, the first month is $99 and then each other month is $15. If I only want one month, even though it's advertised as $15/mo, I still have to pay the $99 first month price.

Yea, i go to a commercial chain gym. They bait you with the "its just 20 euros" and the first month you see they actually made 50 euros, because 30 additional euros is "opening fee" or some shit like that. In my case is basically because they make business making goys who go 3 days and cancel subscription more than double. The rest of the months it is 20 euros. There are very few regulars in my gym time, the rest are just dyels that give up too soon

Might as well spend that money on a bench and barbell.

At the local sporting goods store a 300lbs set that uses a 45lb bar is $250, yeah. Granted every standalone bar I find that's 45lbs is $300 on its own so IDK about the weight set

So glad I don’t have to deal with these israelites and prostitutes anymore ruining my training.
Spent $1.5k on my home gym in 2021 and have no regrets. I splurged on rogue bumper plates otherwise it could’ve been a couple hundred less.

Every gym has these dumb fees which pisses me off, it drove me out of my last gym
    >pay $20/month, plus $70 dollar annual fee
    >have to get a new credit card
    >slips my mind to change my monthly renewal over to the new card
    >get an email from gym saying payment was declined
    >call them immediately
    >tell them I had to get a new credit card and I’d like to change the card on my account to the new one
    >”it’s gonna be a $10 dollar fee to change your payment method”
    >can’t remember the reasoning but basically it was all fluff, just an extra way to take money from us
    >whatever, let’s just do it
    >”hmm it seems like you were late on your payment this month”
    >”yeah my bad I just got this card a few days ago, I literally called as soon as I got the notification”
    >”well we need to charge an additional $50 late fee”
    >told him my membership renews today anyway and I called as soon I got the email, ask if he can wave it since I’m still paying on the day it renews anyway
    >no
    >says he’s gonna charge my card $90 dollars
    >”what?? How does that add up?”
    >”$20 bucks for the monthly membership, $50 dollar late fee, $10 changing payment method”
    >”ok but that’s only $80, where’s the $10?”
    >”uh…….. processing fee”
    >tell him never mind and cancel my membership right then and there, luckily there’s no fee to cancel my membership
    >”oh wait before you do that, if you’re interested we can wave the late fee”
    >nah, no longer doing business with you guys
    >found a better gym that same day for on $15 a month, $50 dollar annual
    >worth it

I would not attend a $15/month gym. Literally worse than planet fitness. If they don't charge at least $50 a month, ideally twice that, it will be filled with lowlives and teenagers just using the gym as their hangout place due to how cheap it is.
