When I was in college some feminist group got the school to approve painting a red handprint outside of every building in which any alleged sexual assault had taken place. There was one outside the gym.
Eventually the school painted over them. Not because the handprints made everyone uncomfortable; that complaint had been made, and they basically said that was the whole point. Rumor even claimed the donors liked it. It was because it became public that the feminist group painted red handprints outside every single building without even checking if an assault had beem alleged, much less proven, on the theory that 98% of rapes go unreported and therefore any place without a reported rape is 98% likely to have had one, therefore red handprint. My statistics professor spent half an hour ranting to the class about that one when she heard.
Anyway I got a C in statistics but I'm 98% sure someone was raped in that gym.
