Have any natties tried this high intensity low volume training? does it even work at all without the steroid boost?

      Anonymous

Of course it works. The question is does it work better than what you're doing now and if not are the tradeoffs still worth it to you?

      Anonymous

Mentzer actually said heavy training was the perfect routine for natties since they are able to get ample time to recover unlike roidbros who can lift 6 days a week and still put on mass

        Anonymous

As other anons have said, extreme volume only works if you are blasting. Nattys need lots of time to recover and grow

In this case why does 10-20 sets per muscle group per week seem to be the mainstream consensus?

          Anonymous

Because the majority of natties are naive and think their favorite actors or IG influencers aren't on steroids and think following their routines will yield similar results.

The "mainstream consensus" takes input from roiders.

4x week masterrace. If you are spending more than 2 hours at the gym + gym setting (getting dressed, driving, showering, meals, etc) and you are not competing nor making any money out of it, you are wasting your time. I won't shill a meme "mimnimalist workout to maximize gains" but please do try to find a plan that is as time efficient as possible.

I love Mentzer, but be real. Most people cannot train with the intensity necessary to make optimally efficient gains like he said you could.

Most of us work out for an hour a day with a little left in the tank as opposed to the amazing force of will it takes to completely exhaust every ounce of effort maxing out on each lift.

I agree with you that it's not for most people. HIT training requires pre-existing conditioned but overall a typical Mentzer focused routine consists of 4 total working sets for an entire workout which typically lasts 30 minutes. If you lift lighter and get an understanding at how much you can lift until failure then anyone can make it work.

The biggest thing I've noticed and especially from my own personal experience is that HIT gets criticized a lot by people who honestly have no idea what they're doing or are too out of shape to push themselves until failure

If you train to failure you will need a nap afterwards. So it does frick your day up a bit. Also some bodys will just break down sooner or later if you go the real high intensity route. I love training hard tough..

Never understood what workouts ur actually suppose to do though. 1 day upper 1 day lower? How else could you split it

      Anonymous

Mentzer's recommended starter routine was basically upper every 8 days, legs/abs every 8 days

No way you are supposed to train your body once a week

Has anyone actually done this? Why do the scientific RP templates do the absolute opposite?

gaining 50lbs of muscle in 11 months is impressive. That’s just over double the fully optimized maximum natural human capacity, he must be eating duck eggs or something.

For me its 2-3 times per week and I made amazing results. Did a one year bulk and gained about 15 lbs of muscle and 2 lbs of fat. And all strength PRs went through the roof. 3pl8 for squat, 2pl8 bench 125lb ohp, and I don’t deadlift (not worth the risk for a newb like me imo) I’m 170lbs 5’8

How would high rep HIT work? 8 reps to absolute failure absolutely wreck me. I have 5 years of lifting experience and am quite positive I can reach absolute failure with 1 set given the right mindset, but it is so insanely tiring it is not worth it.

Especially if I do Yates deadlifts at the end of my back workout... Maybe this means this training style is not for me? I see powerlifters train more often and heavier than I do.

      >How would high rep HIT work?
Well if you can do 8 reps now, you can work your way up to 9, then 10, and so on. As t approaches infinity, reps also approach infinity.

If you run 5/3/1 properly and go to failure every workout, hit each lift every 7-8 days… it’s kinda what mentzer said but using compound lifts
