The best people at anything were trained since young children. You can compete starting as an adult, absolutely, but it’s just a matter of physical limitations. Getting better at something involves developing sections of your brain and body as you practice, and the best results come from making these changes as you’re still developing in general. Look up the Polgar sisters, pretty neat stuff. But yeah, you just gotta aim for “great” if you start as an adult, as it’s still very possible. You could even be considered the best if you marketed yourself right. But to be objectively the best, you can’t compete with someone who started as a child if you’re both giving it the same effort, they’re literally built different.

I can have food any time I want without having to desperately hunt for it (even delivered to me), I have a super computer in my hands, I have the freedom and leisure to work out whenever I want (and go to a facility perfectly tailored to that process), and all the free time I save everyday I can use to read, okay piano, grow herbs, frick hot girls, have fun with friends, play games, draw, work on personal construction projects, etc. And I'll have many more years of this bliss (as long as I don't frick up). It's insane to think about.
