>have horrible insomnia
>try medication, OTC supplements, meditation, yoga, etc
>nothing helps
>friend suggests I try a night cap
>don't like alcohol and haven't drank in years
>try it anyway
>it works and I finally get some sleep
>have 1-2 drinks a night for a month
>no negatives, lifts in gym still going up, better mood during the day, less stressed all in all
>afraid if I drink regularly I'll become an alcoholic
>try not drinking
>still have insomnia

This shit is moronic. I don't want to risk becoming an alcoholic by depending on booze to sleep but without it there is near zero chance of me getting a good night's rest.

If you are white, you are meant to drink alcohol. 1-2 drinks is actually healthier than not drinking. I recommend drinking wine over other alcohol for the antioxidants. Just watch out as grapes are very poisonous to pets.

I am white. I don't really see the harm in a drink after work but I don't want to be dependent on something. Prior to me trying booze I was loading up on whatever sleep supplements crap I could find at the store and it made me feel like dog shit the next day. With booze I don't get any groggy moron feeling unless I drink to much and that seldom happens. Gin is the only alcohol I've tried and liked. I make a gin and tonic and game or trade shit coins or forex or whatever for an hour or two after work then a small shot and sleep.

Better be dependent on a small amount of booze rather than godknowswhat pills. Just tell yourself the booze is medicinal.

My grandma had a shot of gin before bed every day for her entire life for this reason. You don't become an alcoholic from having a beer or something every night. It only becomes a problem when you can no longer decide not to have a drink or cannot control the amount of drinks you have. I think in your case it would be good as long as you stick to 1 shot before bed.

After reading your quote I realize that "this shit is moronic" sounds pedantic. It's currently 3:30 am, I'm still awake after attempting to sleep and I was frustrated while typing out my post.

Better be dependent on a small amount of booze rather than godknowswhat pills. Just tell yourself the booze is medicinal.

You're probably right. Come down and withdrawals from Dr prescribed sleeping pills suck and if I can avoid that with a shot of booze and not feel horrible, that sounds like the lesser of two evils.

I think alcohol only kills gains when you drink stuff with a lot of sugar or aged in a barrel or beer.

Not as bad as not sleeping. When it comes to insomnia, basically any side effect of the treatment is better than the disease.

you're anxious about not getting sleep and it's keeping you awake
try to realize the alcohol is doing next to nothing for your sleep and it's your mind that's keeping you from sleeping
also when you can't sleep, learn to accept it, just allow it to happen, get up and read a book or something
condition your mind to learn that not getting sleep is harmless, and you will start sleeping again
    also jerk off

This. Bed has become an anxious space for you. Also try meditative breathing techniques. I used to never be able to fall asleep without booze, but an hour of LISS cardio at some point during the day and jerking off right before I get into bed helped a lot. Square breathing, wim hof breathing, hard in-slow out all helped me relax and focus on something calming, asleep before you know it.

    >insomnia
Not real, maybe if you actually worked and exerted yourself physically during the day, you would be tired enough to fall asleep fast.

Try sleeping on the couch or a chair. It'll be uncomfortable but I think your problem is bed anxiety.
