    What qualifies as excessive drinking

      Anonymous

more than 2 a day if you drink every day or more than ~10 drinks a week if you drink 2/3 days a week
Think like this - glass of beer with dinner, glass of wine with desert. OR social events on the weekend with a couple fruity wienertails, or a hangout with the lads with a glass or two of whiskey.

Which is kind of hilarious, tons of people drink over 10 total between a couple after work or a few more on the weekend

I mean to be fair I could down a 6 pack in a single night and keep going for more when I was in my early twenties but now I could barely handle 6 drinks across 6 hours, I'm sure age also plays a factor into what is/isn't excessive

            Anonymous

Yeah as you get older it takes its toll. I’m mid 40’s, I went out a few months ago and had about 30 pints and it took me two days to get back to myself, where as in my early thirties I’d have been fine after a day and a half drinking that much.

Yes. It’s not a regular thing, once a year maybe I have that much.

                >30 pints
Please tell me this is a typo, or over the course of a few days or something.

Go out at lunchtime, get home 4am so 15 hours of drinking, it’s only two pints an hour.

One of the midwit's favorites. Right after lazy grammar pedantry. A correlation is the first step towards determining a causation, one relies on the other even if it doesn't imply it. It's called ... "evidence." Now go back to your water and apples you stupid gay.

The case for Nicolas Cage appearing in movies causing pool drownings:

          >Nicolas Cage is renowned for his status as a popcorn flick actor appearing in mass appeal cinema fare and some of the bigger blockbusters in any given year
          >when people gather to watch a movie socially, they are more likely to continue the social gathering elsewhere, use the pool more often, have a higher chance of drowning in it.
          >Cage, a leading figure of 2000s blockbusters, inadvertently contributes to slightly higher amounts of pool drownings when people gather socially to watch his movies

They actually drank mead. Fermented fruits promote vitality. Fermented grains and hops, like in beer, are full of dietary estrogens and give the drinker a complacent, sleepy effect.
The Pope outlawed mead for hundreds of years for this reason. Hops and fermented grains created a complacent feminine population in Europe. This is all historical fact.

Making a good homebrew mead is easy. Just needs some unpasteurized honey, water, and throw in some fruits on hand. Probably one of the easiest homebrew drinks to make other than apple cider.

once tried a mead/cider with raw honey and crabapples, came out a little sour but I like those flavours; I'm sure normal apples would've been sweeter.

addendum: shill out for the distillers yeast; yes it's more expensive than breadyeast, yes your brew will taste better - it's bred to have fewer off tasting byproducts.

I've always made mead with the natural yeasts in the raw honey and some apple skins from my brother's apple tree. Since you're using your own yeast are you using pasteurized honey, or still raw?

                Anonymous

Still raw, I'll just prep the water in the mash with enough sugar that the yeast I add will 100% outcompete the other yeast present
I wonder if using pasteurized honey would taste better or worse now, I'll have to give it a shot
