Pussies. In all seriousness though there are lessons to be learned before hitting the bag. Lessons I had to learn thr hard way.
      1. Always hit the bag with the knuckles of your middle and pointer finger
      2. Never bend your wrist

Number 2 could have been much worse for me.

        Here are some better lessons
        1. Don't hit the bag hard if you don't know proper form
        2. Don't use the old gloves that have been in the gym for 6 years
        3. Stop hitting the bag if you feel something being torn or breaking

As lame as this sounds you need to be careful when you first start and even when you get good. Dont hit the bag when its swinging back etc, there are some vids from pro boxers on tips.

      1) proper technique
      2) conditioning over time
      3) gloves made of actual leather (don't spar people in these unless you hate them)

    Swimming

Full body workout and you don't sweat.

The only better cardio is sparring, nothing else ever drains me as much as a few full rounds, can do 6 rounds on the bag easily, 3 or 4 rounds of fast sparring has me gasping for air and barely able to move my legs

How can I make it more cardio intense? I have terrible cardio but I can go like 10 minutes non stop on an actual heavy bag and get bored before my heart even increases

HIIT. 1 minute hard, 30 seconds soft. I don't like promoting e celebs but nate bower's hiit follow alongs are ok.

Oh it's pretty easy. Your body’s capacity for cardio endurance far exceeds your shoulder muscles ability to work. Past a certain amount of cardio endurance, your shoulders will die before you can push your system to adapt. Or more precisely, the heavy bag will very quickly reach anaerobic exercise, and not train you aerobically.

Cardio past 30 minutes is a waste.

I have been dreaming about having a bag for years now, if not a decade. I am a poorgay, and a nobody, so can't really get it. I bet shit feels so cash.

I bought a crappy bag off Amazon and filled it up with clothes my kids outgrew or I ruined working on cars. You can get it packed tight as hell and it takes hits well. I need to put sand in it but its working OK for now, definitely beats not having one and just wishing. I had been running for months, lifting, and it still took a lot out of you doing an actual boxing session even in a short amount of time.

Are mid 30s too late to start?

No. I played football and was built in highschool but I was basically an alcoholic for 15 years and became skinnyfat and pathetic. Only a year and a half in now and I get mires and can keep up and even beat college aged guys on the field now. Takes a lot of work but don't let that get you down, you will be slow to start but stick with it. Eat well but don't be so autistic you do something you won't stick with and fail.

      noko

Get a potato or horsefeed sack and fill it with sand or grain.

It'll cost you like $20 of sand and you can generally get free sacks from farms, just ask.

To suspend it put a belt around the top but have make it have a muffin top of sand or grain and then use another belt that runs from that belt to your rafter.

What pulse are you averaging when going at a rate that you can sustain for 20+ mins?
Talking about cardio without bringing up heart rate is pointless.
