No he isn't, he is asking for a spot as in safety for lifting but op was pretending he meant spot as in find him like can you spot wally in this immense crowd of people. So op answer, yes you're here at the gym. Ops reply wasn't optimal for the joke granted, but your interpretation was wrong. I hope I've cleared things up anon. Wagmi
SPOTTING IS FRICKING moronic FOR ANY LIFT AND YOU SHOULDN'T USE A BENCH OR SQUAT RACK THAT DOESN'T HAVE SAFETIES. IF ANYONE ASKS ME TO SPOT I SAY "NO ARE YOU GAY? YOU WANT MY BALLS IN YOUR FACE OR ME RUBBING UP AGAINST YOUR ASS? USE THE SAFETIES IDIOT"
I can't help but say yes to people who don't what they're doing and might be stupid. If he can't figure out how to use the pins he might die. Also it's good to be cool because you might want someone to help you get forced reps.
>If I can't finish the rep myself it's a failed rep.
And if you can't and someone forces it then it's a forced rep. >Rather just drop the weight.
This is also something big guys do.
I actually did this once >university gym >I'm a big fish in a small pond, known for being one of the stronger guys >guy asks me to spot his squat in the power rack >I've seen him around, know he's going for a PR that he will not under any circumstances hit >I do not want to awkwardly powercuddle this guy for no reason >"nah dude, it's cool, safeties got you covered" >he gets flustered and says I'm being rude, I of all people should know gym etiquette >I tell him the safeties are at the proper height and will function as designed if necessary >he gets even more butthurt >notice he's lifting with a girl, he must be trying to impress her >I say I can't help him with what he wants and start my set >he seethes back to his rack >gets swiftly stapled >I never saw him again, he must've been so buttdanged that he changed times or went to a commercial gym
>Some dyel sperg asks me to spot his squat >I see 2pl8s at his rack >Assume he's gay and is going to try to grind my wiener >Tell him no, he should just set up safeties >He whimpers back to his rack >Takes weights off and leaves
Fricking pussy, never showed up again either.
I'm not trying to risk an injury when some moron fails a lift
Dude if you can't curl their bar back up with the help of the lifter then you are seriously weak. Very rare someone is going to be benching over 3 plates where it might actually be difficult to save them, but anyone who benches that high knows their limits and wouldn't go for a max way above what they can handle with the help of a spotter.
Have you ever had someone just put their fingers on the bar while you lift? That alone makes it feel 20 pounds lighter when they're not even pulling on it.
If you're asking random people for spots, then you're indicating you don't care about the quality of your spot. If you don't care, I don't care either and will say no. Usually it goes like this >Random: hey man can you give me a spot? >Me: you don't want me spotting you >Random: ??? >Me: I've never spotted before (lie) and you shouldn't trust your safety with me (lie)
One of two things happens. Either the random says np and goes away, or continues >Random: it's cool man, it's easy. I'll teach you >Me: another time bro, I'm finishing my set. good luck
Why the frick would you go to a random person and ask for a spot? I've seen people get injured from bad spotters.
>"hey bro can I get a spot"
>yeah, you're here at the gym
Does this make more sense in your native language?
nta but it understndable in english. spot means place so anon is telling gymgoer the place he can use to work out is the gym

The original in English is "Can you spot me? Yeah, you're right there."

Never. If I can't finish the rep myself it's a failed rep. Rather just drop the weight.

I completely agree with the sentiments of this LARP
you acted cringe
I did, I didn't type this out to make me look cool. This was 10 years ago, sometimes it's good to reminisce about your edgy youth to stay humble.
I don't believe this happened but I still think you are a homosexual
>spot a squat by yourself
>when he has a rack
you made the right move
>Some dyel sperg asks me to spot his squat
>I see 2pl8s at his rack
>Assume he's gay and is going to try to grind my wiener
>Tell him no, he should just set up safeties

Fricking pussy, never showed up again either.
>sure
>watch my opponent fail
>do nothing
>they alnost die
>yep, you failed, right there, i spotted it
>hey bro can you spot me
>yes, but I choose not to
Is this a new IST psyop? I always ask random people for spots on bench and they always without a fail say yes
I'm not trying to risk an injury when some moron fails a lift

I don't care how miniscule the risk is. I'm not risking an injury to help a random gym goer.
