I built this over 5 years with minimal money. judge my mini fridge
Have any Q's? I have bought and sold an immense amount of eqt over the years

unsure why this compressed so hard
who is this fella?
me. looks like i missed a spot shaving.
Jesus, is he a life form from another planet???? I knew it!!!!!!!!
i like it
Myron leg press
Most over rated piece of equipment in my opinion is large cardio
Unless you KNOW you use it, get a crap piece for free and if you use it, then upgrade,
Also, investing in the more expensive dumbell racks that actually allow you to grab and lift a weight comfortably is 100% worth the money
damn dude, you bald. cool gym tho
New as of last year. Fought the semi-receding and decided enough was enough
Thanks for checkin' in
Dude. You’re BALD. What the frick.
It's a cold life. I never understood why so many bald dudes wore hats. Thought is was just to hide the lack of hair
now I know. Insanely cold.
i also have this in another room but i dont use it at all cause its crap
yea but doesnt hot shower feel nice on the scalp, im bald too

I think home gyms are a waste of time unless you live 30min drive from the nearest gym and it's not on your way to work.
You will:
>use up space that you either don't have (ie most people in cities) or space you could use otherwise (garage, diy project space etc)
>have a bunch of bulky heavy shit that can't be easily sold or moved if you move out
>spend a lot more than a gym membership
For example $2500 will buy you 10+ years of gym membership in a fully equipped modern gym (qt3.14s included) or a very limited selection of staff for home.
I don't know, having my gym in my garage makes it pretty hard to come up with excuses for why I can't go lift. There are many times I'll be tired and tell myself I'll just go do my main lift and call it a day, then end up finishing out my routine. I also hate most people and don't care to share a gym with them. Lifting barefoot and naked is pretty nice too. As for cost, you can recoup most of it if you decide you no longer want the equipment, so long as you buy reputable stuff to begin with, and don't abuse it.
I do wish I had some gym thots just standing around being loose though.
>Lifting barefoot and naked is pretty nice too
this.
>(qt3.14s included)
what could go wrong
1. Time saver. my 30 minute workout takes 31 minutes including walking down the stair
30 minute workout at gym even 6 minutes away is EASILY 1 full hour by the time you're home
>that can't be easily sold
You've never sold any workout eqt on fb or craigslist, have you?
>2500 will buy you 10+ years of gym
and you will have zero assets at the end of that time
My 3k gym is worth more than 3k. Iron is iron which means at the absolute least I'll get $1 per lb of weight
i didnt even know that the reason i sometimes dont feel like going to the gym is because of the people... now that i have home gym i dont skip workouts... i dont have social anxiety, sometimes you just finish work and you are burned out and u dont wanna be around so many strangers
Postan
>use up space that you either don't have (ie most people in cities) or space you could use otherwise (garage, diy project space etc)
Don't want to have anything else in my garage so literally no problem there
>have a bunch of bulky heavy shit that can't be easily sold or moved if you move out
It wasn't that bad to move it, the rack comes apart and everything else is fairly manageable.
>spend a lot more than a gym membership
I calculated it and I've reached the point where I spent less on the home gym than I would on a gym membership, not to mention the huge amount of time and money you save on the commute across that time period as well.
>10 years for those numbers
Even if you weren't trying to emphasize strength gains, those still seem really low
I'll take it into consideration.
I want a home gym in the country so I can yell my head off.
"UP" and "COME ON" just aren't enough for me anymore
I usually lift at night so I can yell about this guy I hate.
HORACE. WHY DID YOU BETRAY US HORACE
Etc etc
Nice pasta reference.
i prefer a home gym because it's a more enjoyable experience + gyms near me are gay, crowded, and expensive
my home gym is just a half rack like picrel, a barbell, an adjustable bench press, and a bunch of plates
i do full body training 1-4x per week depending on how i feel
the lack of accessories has absolutely caused my arms to lag behind, but they're not terrible, only mildly suboptimal
my lifts are SBDORCS: squat, bench, dead, ohp, rows, curls, and shrugs
overall i love it, worth every penny
Why would your arms be lacking? You can curl and do tricep extensions and delt raises and press with a bar.
i don't like doing accessories, so i either skip them or go half-assed on them
You don't like barbell curls?
Those are my favourite and they could be seen as half compounds, then add some close grip bench press for the tris which is also a compound.
Think of the time gained by the convenience and you'll realize the 3k are nothing and will easily be offset by the time gained, time is money and my time is more precious.
Going to the gym is draining. It takes one hour, one hour and a half, between the preparing, the commuting, maybe extra daily shower, waiting for a spot to be free etc. It all adds up. You'll also be more likely to miss some sessions. Music is shit, people are annoying etc. Home gym you can be done in 30 minutes.
Let's say you work out 250 days in a year, that's like 200 hours you can shave off from the inconvenience of going to a gym and use to make more money than 3k. It pays itself.
>I think home gyms are a waste of time unless
>t. pleb
So 20 minutes each side which is 40 per day is worth it for you?
That's 170 hours per year if you're serious gym goer to save $1000?
Not to even go in all other negatives of going to a public gym like fricking communist slave that has to share equipment and wait for his turn like a good little cuck.
I'll be honest here, if I didn't have a home gym there's zero chances I would even lift if my only option was to become a public gym going cuck, I'd rather to callisthenics or manual labour.
you look a bit fat, maybe lay off the soda?
nice setup, looks lived in too
all things in moderation
Although I somehow got hooked on the scarcity of mtn dew rare/limited flavors. They have a fascinating marketing besides their main line products and it intrigued me enough to be learn and able to flip a few cans of mtn dew for $50 each on ebay

RIP Bai, we luved u
Oh no
I'd rather have a heavy bag than a large cardio machine. You'd at least build some skill while doing that shit instead peddling or whatever.
Lifting won't bring the hair back.
Nice gym with plenty of options for different exercises.
Tho I would prefer different decor, don't really see the point of having a home gym that looks like any commercial gym you can go to.
(Also as a non-burger, having your flags on the wall is just a very weird concept, but hey more power to you).
Definitely a more sterile environment. Might be why I chose that look because I felt so at home in the commercial setting.
I feel a lot of people overwhelm their space with equipment and don't allow for free area. All yoga, pushups, and bodyweight moves are done without thinking about hitting anything.
That is fair, there can be beauty in simplicity.
Would still drop the strongman banner for something else more interesting. But understand if you don't want an empty wall.
Still a 9/10 set up.
>don't really see the point of having a home gym that looks like any commercial gym you can go to.
The benefit is its literally in your home, who gives a frick if it looks like a local gym? Are you a woman? Do you want him to paint the walls a more neutral tone so it matches your workout shoes better?
a more balanced fung shwei to get me in the mood but not be too scary would be ideal... lol
The book Atomic Habits has some great ideas about creating and maintaining good habits that I 100% believe in
1. Make it obvious
2. Make it attractive
3. Make it easy
4. Make it satisfying
Fill them in with what is correct for you
Based i read that book too. It was the reason i got a home gym because it makes it easier to workout rather than skip it because of driving to the gym. I recommend reading the tiny habits book with atomic habits
>tfw britgay
So jealous at how much space you Americans have tbh its a fricking joke here literal fricking prison
That is one nice looking fricking home gym you got there
Appreciate it
I've been thinking about upgrading my rack from a pretty basic valor fitness one to a Rep Fitness RP 5000. Anyone have any experience or opinions with their racks? I've been pretty happy with my bench and SSB from rep.
REP is one of the best "chinese" options in my opinion. Incredible customer service.
The dumbells I bought are 100% rubber coated from REP and they are probably one of my greatest purchases I have ever made.
That rack is a monster
>REP is one of the best "chinese" options
This is kind of how I feel about them too. I keep hearing Titan has really stepped up their quality control, but I can't get past all the posts and pictures of broken welds and bent frames from when they were a relatively new brand, and even new reviews still complain about not receiving all of the parts.
I'll probably just go with rep, I just can't justify the cost for a Rogue rack, when for the same price I could get me a Rep rack with lat and belt squat attachments.
Nice what are your lifts
300lb squat 1rm
235lb bench for 2
320lb Deadlift 1rm
srs? how long you've been lifting?
10 years. Always focused on health and not really putting up the biggest numbers.
Now I simply focus on muscle contraction and staying health. Body fat under 17% year round and lots of protein.
it ain't for everyone
Where did you buy your mirrors? Were they affordable?
The large one was free because any mirror over 6 feet typically is off facebook marketplace. People want them gone usually.
I had the means to move it and so it was free
Smaller one was $40 off craigslist.
Crash pad recommendations? I'm on the second floor so it's mostly a noise thing for deadlifts.
>I'm on the second floor so it's mostly a noise thing for deadlifts.
don't do deadlifts on the second floor of an apartment with any variety of a pad
it is a violation of common decency and will make your neighbors rightly hate you. just don't do it. it's literal Black person behavior. you can't deadlift in apartments, and you aren't allowed to generally either
What about the office gym? It's above a public space, and they don't want us dropping weights because people below can hear it. Would crash pass be okay for that?
Bells of steel make some nice one's ive heard.
I've never used em though
finished up squats today.
have diddlies and paused binch tomorrow
Love it
This room was an enclosed garage with a concrete floor prone to water intrusion, no ceiling, and two cinderblock walls. This is half of the room. It’s roughly 11x22. So the gym I built isn’t just the cheap equipment I bought but also the room Israeli.
>Israeli
Itself*
My inner israelite is showing
>been spending too much time on /misc/
The moulding is great, the ceiling is fricking mint, and the setup looks functional. What a solid room. Wish I spent that much time on my ceiling :/
Reddit space
For the record, these are old photos and I have added windows and trim. And I've hung the heavy bag with the mount on the couch.
Bro, it actually means a lot to me when people compliment the room, even casual strangers on an obscure image board. I had to do the ceiling twice, as it was damaged a few mo this after completion by hurricane Ida.
The floor is the really interesting part. It’s a sleeper floor, with the wooden subfloor supported by 1”x2” 14ga steel box tubing. This keeps the small amount of water seepage from reaching the subfloor.
Wow that's a unique fix. If im picturing it right, that had to be a c**t to build, especially with the concern of how much weight would be on isolated spots. Cheers for the craftsmanship, you're a rare one! Godspeed builderbro.
Mirin dyel mat
It’s just a sheet of birch, painted and stained. At the time birch was the same price as pine. It keeps the floor from getting too scratched and helps distribute the weight of the rack.
>but also the room Israeli
???
im kinda rich but not THAT rich so I cant see myself spending at least 10k on that setup, but I understand what compels a man to do so
I can get by just fine by spending 70 USD per month to avoid the riff raff a little by joining a semi-premium gym and investing my money for...something idk yet? kek, hopefully a boat
I just looked up some prices online:
>Squat rack: $420
>Oly bar and 300lbs: $400
>Adjustable dumbbells: $125 for a pair
>Total: $945+tax
So at $70/mo a homegym would pay for itself in a little over a year. If you're planning on lifting for more than a year, you should just get the equipment and leave the instathots in the hell they've created. As for "investing my money for... something" the best investment you can make is in your health.
cheers anon, it indeed is cheaper than I thought
been lifting for two and a half years give or take, two of it being proper
but I dont hate my gym and I dont have a family yet, but once I do, I understand the biggest advantage of a home gym is being at home and not commuting to another place, which can save up to 60 minutes per session and it adds up
to be honest its something I will invest in at some point, but not today probably
what's a good rack for that price? i was looking at pr-1100 for making my new garage gym.
Fricking where? That’s twice of any prices I’ve seen
What do you use that unusual barbell on the wall for?
That's a multi-grip bar by Archon.
Young and dumb me wanted to get my bench press numbers "sick lift bro" worthy and that meant I put too much weight in my shoulders during the lift.
Never really injured anything but had a nagging shoulder sorenes for weeks when i benched.
Learned more and did some research to find neutral grip barbells can be incredible for a chest workout that completely isolates chest.
Fell in love with the bar and use it on a weekly basis.
Specialty bars really do have their place.
it's also very nice for hammer curls.
Why do you have so many dumbbells? Isn't a pair or two enough? Doesn't using the smaller ones make you weaker, erradicating lifting progress?
5-50 rubber coated HEX for versatility, and durability vs click-style adjustable dumbells
Pair of adjustable plate loaded dumbells to make any weight from 55-95lbs or so
>tfw tried to buy an Ohio Power Bar but got an error on the check out, now the purchase doesn't show on Rogue's site but it shows on my bank account.
That bar seems to be THE bar for home gym owners.
I've got one chinese beater bar I use for rack pulls and such and a Titan for other use
Would love a bar upgrade in the future.
>upgrade in the future
I just want a few pieces, so I just save for highest quality I can from the start
Fkn sweet set up bro. Stealing some ideas yeah
>with minimal money
>clearly expensive home and expensive setup
Nice humblebrag about being wealthy, homosexual

Cramped living room gym. Finally got a squat rack after having just dumbbells+ adjustable bench +rings. Also have an exercise bike in another room.
Got a real bar on the way but after that next thing is space and not living in a trailer anymore.
Heard rings are a great addition.
They are, but they have to be hanging. The longer the straps, the more instability.

He lives in a squat, right?
Bought this to add to my home gym. Excited for Sunday hope it comes early
> Not buying pairs of the kettlebells.
Defeating the point.
Look to the left of the dumbbell rack
> The flag should not be on display outdoors during bad weather.
> The flag should not be used for advertising purposes, or embroidered on cushions, handkerchiefs, napkins or boxes.
> The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding or drapery.

Man, you hate your country or what?
He isn't even flying the right one- the official version should have rainbow colored stripes lol.
literally nobody follows those laws
I fail to see how I've infringed on a single one of those rules
Read the list you posted, moron. Hanging a flag is proper.
Here’s my home gym. The rack is Titan Fitness, don’t remember the barbell/weight brand as I got them off Craigslist a few years ago, that’s also where I bought my Concept2. Also have a Peloton that’s not pictured that I really enjoy for cardio much more than the rower. I love having everything at home and the amount of time I save on travel/showering, but I miss the social aspect of going to the gym and I really miss checking out the bawds in their gym outfits.
id workout with you anon, no homo. just a comfy setup.

Best thing I can advise to get after the basics is a dual adjustable cable pulley. I got a plateloaded variant which is a lot cheaper, mine was £200. Absolute frickton of exercises can be done on that thing
Looks great buddy once I clean up mine ill show off some of my custom builds
I have a pair of rings 😀

aren't "home gyms" supposed to be bands, dumbbells, a bench and a yoga mat?
sure, if you're a woman
ok, what about a bench, a barbell, concrete plates and squat stands?
What is eqt?

Why are squat racks so fricking expensive? It's literally just some piece of metal screwed together, it can't be that expensive to make
Hey anon, as a man trying to build a home gym do you have any recommendations until I get more stuff/what pieces of equipment you found most useful? I've got a 25 pound barbell and that's it currently. I weigh 157 pounds and am about 5'10" so I'm just really starting out. I read the sticky but didn't see anything related to my question
