It's not great. I'm 6' 4", and feel very cramped on it. Leg curls in particular are especially frustrating, extensions work great however, aside from my heels hitting the ground when lowering it back down at the end of a set. The quality isn't horrible, but its definitely lacking on the roller pads. It handles me (230lbs) and another 200lbs with ease though. I've been wanting to replace it for a while, I just haven't had many pop up for sale in my area. That being said, it works great for the missus.

I've gone back and forth on getting a commercial leg press/hack squat, but floor space is the biggest issue for me as well. Honestly I REALLY like Bulgarian split squats as a quad accessory after squats. I use a single dumbbell or kettlebell for them, and keep the weight light but the reps high.

That looks great. I was going to start off with roller j-cups and spring return monolifts. Loadable dumbbells would be easy and fast but they wouldn't be economical at all given what I'd have invested in materials vs what's available on the market

Thanks. Third thing I’ve ever welded so it turned out alright. For the j cups, do you have a press brake to bend steel into shape or were you going to machine them out of billet or weld them? I was considering making some longer spotter arms next but haven’t figured out how I would do the part where it attaches to the rack…

For the 3rd thing you've welded, it looks great. I was planning to keep welding to a minimum and machine as much as possible. I also don't have a brake, so making the bend like on my ghost strong cups would be a hell of a task. I'd be interested to see what you come up with for spotters, they're on my to-do list as well. >inb4 oil that bar

I was going to take the opposite approach and just weld everything. I can get scraps from work and my $200 harbor freight metal glue gun does the job. We have a 200 ton press at work that could handle the bending, but it’s not set up for that and making the fixtures probably wouldn’t be worth it since I’m just making something for myself.

I like seeing different perspectives on the same application. I just avoid welding whenever possible because I'm not good at it.
Damn homie, Drake once said: I cannot see Heaven being much better than this,
I ain't got none at home but my father has a small wood factory so he has nearly everything I ever needed in terms of tools.
leg extensions and leg curls are fine on it. not sure why the company doesn't sell a leg trainer for that bench. The bench came with the rack and came with preacher curl attachment but their leg trainer attachment wouldnt really work with it and could find a 3rd party one that would work with a 1.75" square down tube (all of them were 2"). With the setup I made I can do extensions, curls, and nordic curls on the bench
I have >powerlifting tier powercage >2 benches >2 45lb barbells that can hold 750lbs >a trap bar (fight me) >a 35lb Barbell >an ez Curl bar with about 100lbs of those plates with those small holes >4 sets of 45lb Olympic plates a set of 35lbs, a set of 25lbs, 3 sets of 10lbs, 2 sets of 5lbs and a set of 2.5lbs >2 public gym tier dumbbell racks with dumbbells from 5lbs up to 75lbs, and then from there I have 95lb DBs and a pair of 110lb DBs >battle ropes >a Sled to push and pull >gymnastic rings >a Cable machine (with only one cable) with 100lbs of weight. It gets the job done if you get creative and use it effectively >a heavybag >a speed bag >a double end bag >a 200lb sandbag >a 100lb medicine ball >a 12lb medicine ball >an ab wheel >a 20lb Weighted Vest >4 different resistant bands >a lifting belt >a belt with a chain to put weight on >a Neck Harness for neck work >a Wrist Roller for forearms >a pair of fat grips >a in 3 days I will have a reverse hyper extension machine
I don't own a home gym but the first thing I'd get is some sort of rack and a barbell. Decent power bar, then whatever cheapest rack that is rated for an appropriate amount of weight, that looks like it's going to be easy to lift safely in.

I have a couple of questions, want to get the PR-5000 from rep fitness: >What rack deep? 30" or 41" >Safeties, strap or flip down?
And that's it any help is appreciated.
>What rack deep?
imo, doesn't matter too much. I got 43" because I had the space for it >Safeties, strap or flip down?
I like straps because you can micro adjust by altering height placement from front to back. they are the best for bench. when I'm in position, the bar hits my chest, but as soon as I collapse my arch, the straps catch the bar. If I had pin/pipe or flips, the safeties would be too high to get full ROM or be too low to be useful
If I had an extra $200 to burn, I'd have both and use straps exclusively for bench movements and flips for everything else. avoid pin/pipes though
Hello again IST. It's been a while, too long really. I fell off of lifting for a while, and I want to get back into it. I just packed away all my gaming shit and I'd like to get back into fitness. The only thing is, I am living at my parents for the foreseeable future, and we live in a very rural area where the nearest gym is about 45 minutes away. So I want to get something compact that can fit in my room and let me do basic compound lifts with a barbell.
Space is fairly limited, since I'm in the second floor of a farmhouse and have a slanted ceiling, but I am confident I can fit a rack and olympic bar in here if I get creative. Do any of you have experience with more compact stuff that you can recommend? Is the chink shit from Amazon any good? There's a rack with a pullup bar for like $250 on amazon that would probably fit, would just need to throw a bench under it. Will I die if I use it? Any direction on small-footprint racks that are affordable?
I'm saving to get protections in place, available space is not that much so only added a punching bag and a pull up bar
What else could I add that doesn't use that much space
Weights, spinlock, loadable, or another dumbbell, barbell so you can do bench press on the bench. After flooring that's probably enough. Just use what you got on the cable gym machine. If it's got a low pulley those are great for lateral raises, rows, front raises, curls, etc.
>Do any of you have experience with more compact stuff that you can recommend?
Don't have personal experience with any, but quite a few companies are selling "shorty" bars >is chink shit good?
no. if you plan on keeping it for life, don't waste your money on inferior products. if you only need it for a few months to get by until you go back to commercial gym, you can make an argument there. I guess it depends on how strong/much of a newb you are
I'm pretty much a noob, I lifted up until 2nd year uni which was like holy shit nearly a decade ago jesus frick. I'm also not looking to stay in this space long term, being my parents house and all. Once I have a house bought and furnished I'd expand my gym stuff. But god fricking knows when that will be. Any brands/sites you'd recommend for reasonable quality:price ratio?
>Any brands/sites you'd recommend for reasonable quality:price ratio?
Rep Fitness, Fringe Sport, Titan Fitness, Bells of Steel, Synergy, Force USA
avoid any company that started during 2020/1
Honestly the chink made smith machine combo thing I bought is fine. It wasn’t the cheapest I could get but for 2000 it has a ton of functionality and I’ve put a year of pretty heavy abuse on it without any issues.
A foldable bench and adjustable dumbbells with place. If you don't want to stick to standard barbell size, you can get something as long as the bench, so it won't take up much additional space. Then you could get something like pic related to rack the barbell on. I'm going with a similar setup for similar reasons. Only difference is that my rack has safety bars, but that's an extra space I can afford.
wtf are you doing with this if you arent warming up your lower back?
Maybe stop pushing your weight with your legs, just focus your mind on your lowerback and try to lift your weight only with these muscles.
I just do 15 minutes of light cardio, before lifting in general to get the blood rolling, and then do a warmup set or two.
But why do you think you're doing them wrong? Do you remember to squeeze your glutes?
Your dick should be below the edge of the coushion so when you bend your abdomen doesn't touch the bench. I usually do one set of 12-15 to warmen up my back, sometimes when I don't feel deadlifting I do 4 sets instead.
https://i.imgur.com/nY8pxIc.jpg
I bought another 2x10 and 2x5 kg plates so i could deadlift up to 145 kg
https://i.imgur.com/apNq1kd.jpg

Fellow kiddie mat owner, going strong homie, next time buy 2x25kgs and you'll have enough iron for a long time.
>Fellow kiddie mat owner, going strong homie
Yeah numbers are going up and it's a nice boost to keep going >next time buy 2x25kgs and you'll have enough iron for a long time.
25s are the only size quite dificult to find so it will be 2x20 to deadlift up to 180kg
>Any concrete pl5 user here?
not me >Are they worth it?
I guess better than nothing, but I'd just buy rusty used plates first >Any recommendation on how make them?

I had how to calculate "target" weight in my phone but I lost it. Mine came out all right, just get a rubbing block for the exterior and then I sealed mine with dry-lok.
Please help talk me out of buying farmer's walk handles. I'm not a strongman. I can just use dumbbells for loaded carries. But I still want it since it seems it has better stimulus for hypertrophy than using dumbbells.
>gym hours changed so I can’t go before work anymore >not enough physical space for home gym
Bros how compact can I get for squat bench deadlift ohp (with some trap bar variants) + dips and pull-ups
how much space we talking? there's a guy here who lives in Japan with very little space and gets by with a rack, bar, plates and maybe some other stuff
I've been wanting to set up a gym in a guest bedroom but my dad keeps saying he's afraid of the foundation getting fricked up. I keep telling him a solid platform would prevent this from happening but he isn't buying it. What do?
I ordered one of these a few days ago, still hasn't arrived. I'm not new to pull ups, I love them but it's getting annoying going to the park to do them with this cold weather.
I just want to do cali, what more should I do or get? >pull ups and chin ups >abs, leg raises >push ups >deadhangs
A plate loading belt and plates/kettlebell or anything to throw on there, you'll want the weight for progression, if you get a kettlebell or two you can do swings and gobblet squats etc.
Are ezcurl bars a good choice ?I'm trying to build my arms because I have the arms of a 12 y/o japanese girl but i also have the wrists of a 80y/o dart player?
Only the forearm curls felt a bit weird at first. It wasn't painful in the wrists but forearms felt like they gonna explode after each light weighted set. I like that.
I like my cheap used one. Currently doing reverse curls, regular ez bar curls with it. Could do french press/skullcrushers, upright row, and many other exercises.
better to look on FB marketplace or Craigslist. they usually go for ten buckaroos
Only the forearm curls felt a bit weird at first. It wasn't painful in the wrists but forearms felt like they gonna explode after each light weighted set. I like that.
Yes. Titan T2 cage comes in a shorter length. Do not get if you are taller than 5'9". I am 5'8" and I set hooks at 1 setting lower than max to squat, and do pullups with my legs up.
>Do not get if you are taller than 5'9"
I'm 6'1" and the ceilings are 6.5'. I need to remember to duck when entering the bathroom down here because it's door frame is lower than the rest of them and it scalps me if I walk in normally, and that's without shoes on.
I don't need the most heavy duty rack because I squat as a supplemental and not as a main lift, but it would be nice to have a little space for those and bench press and some sort of seated pull ups lol.
just so you know, you can buy a hack saw or an angle grinder and just cut the rack to the height you want. Thinking about swapping my chink rack for a nice rogue one and cutting it down a bit to fit the cable system with my low ceilings.
>tile floor
..... I would use stall mats or something to protect that. Absolute b***h to repair if you frick it up >no squat rack, stands, half rack, or power rack
ehhhhh
4/10
You can make gains but I really like squats, rdl's, barbell and yates rows, etc and I wouldn't be doing that on tile without some protection.
I'm saving to get protections in place, available space is not that much so only added a punching bag and a pull up bar
What else could I add that doesn't use that much space
Why not just get a bigger squat rack and bench instead of separate stands and bench press? Unless you're gonna have multiple people lifting at once, seems like a waste of space
I’m more concerned about space usage
Of course I can see the dimensions just wanna know if anyone else found that it served them well in their home gyms
my only homegym regret is getting a rack that is not 3x3 with 1" holes
other companies (sorinex, stray dog, etc) will have unique attachments rogue doesn't offer, and other companies may not make anything for 5/8" holes. or rogue themselves will only design the attachment for their monster line. yea the rack is slightly more and same for the attachment, but that small amount is negligible when you own it for life.
tl;dr: monster>monster lite
Guess I struck a nerve, dog-homosexual.
Yapping, shitting, dirty, smelly and expensive?!? What a rational thing to piss away your resources on. Do yourself a favour and just terminate them.
I got a: Fat Grips, 25 lbs. Steel mace, a Log Bar, a Trampoline, 2x 5/10/15/20/100 lbs. dumbbells, Barbell, Curl Bar, 1x 15/26/35/53 lbs. kettlebells, Ab Wheel, 12 lbs. medicine ball, stability ball, pull-up bar, some ~500 lbs. in weights, a ~110 lbs. anvil, a ~110 lbs. fire hydrant, and a ~135 lbs. tree trunk.
that's not a bad mix. do you compete strongman regional at all? I wouldn't mind having some tombstone/strongman style sandbags or highland equipment to dick around with >fire hydrant
actual? story?
Found the tree trunk on the side of the road about three blocks from my house, so I carried it home. Took approximately 15~20 minutes and three lifts, and I threw it over my fence into my backyard. Fire hydrant is an old antique model gifted from a friend. First time I saw it I picked it up to shoulder height, but did not want to fully lift overhead as the result could have been lethal. Admittedly I have not used them much as I have been busy with life. I also have bruised legs for the time being so I will wait until next month to resume carrying them again.
I do not compete since it is a waste of time. I would rather meditate and further develop my spiritual healing capabilities. Practicing Gnostic here. If you know, you know.

The trick is buying everything used. You're right, it's nothing but shills and plebbitors treating home gyms like a fashion statement. The entire homegym sub is nothing but a Rogue advertisement.
The problem with "just buy used" is that the used market varies wildly by location.
I watch facebook marketplace and craigslist pretty closely for exercise shit and anything quality is either grossly overpriced or gone within a couple hours.
I suppose it's pretty handy if you're looking for used ellipticals and 1" plastic dumbbells.
Never used one but I always hear it's great for specific exercises(squat, jm press, good mornings).
Whatever you do don't get a super expensive one.
If it was me I would get a cambered swiss bar.
Absolutely. Probably has the most uses out of all specialty bars. Great if you get injured and can't back squat normally, great for all sorts of leg movements.
my rowing machine is in the back right corner. you can literally see it. it's standing up against the wall for storage.

100lbs+ whatever you can lift now.
If you don't know 315lbs or about 150kg should be enough.
Remember, you can always do harder variations of an exercise and more reps before buying more weight(unless you are a powersharter).
Ayo I just wanna let you fine men know that I love you guys, even though we live in different places of this planet, we are all a part of a brotherhood of basement, iron and autism.
>Be poor-gay >Only have door anchorable 100lbs resistance tube >Standing chest press 10x50 >Standing rows 10x50
The hellish agonizing searing burn kicks in around rep # 25, then I myo-rep my way to rep # 50 5 reps at a time with 5 second rests between them. I do 10 sets of that for both push & pull. MxWxFxx
if you're poor get at least a pull up bar (they're really cheap used) and do pushups (can add your band for resistance)
use your band for tricep/bicep isolation too
Valor fitness. Paid like $350 for it I think shipped to my door, not nearly as nice as others I've seen but definitely gets the job done and didn't kill my wallet
maybe more pl8s(bumpers if you want your gf to lift with you(imagine having a gf lmao)) and some dumbbells but yeah this is p much all you really need. goog shit
Yeah I got the titan loadable db's for $99 and they're ok, little bulky and a pain in the ass but I'm not paying hundreds for a set or adjustables lol. And yeah I think I have 550 lb rn of weight or so will need to add more in the future hopefully...but realistically that's about what I'll ever lift I think lmao
if you do decide to shell out for adjustables, go with iron masters. they're not as fast to swap, but feel great in the hand and you can drop them without worrying they'll break.
Hows the concept bike? The rower is still the standard (outside of competitive rowing, where the Rowperfect RP3 is used to train more) but bikes have been around longer, is it better than a spinning bike?
Reasonable? Yes. Going to happen? Only time will tell
Well I'm currently doing push and pull every 3 days so twice a week
I change it up sometimes but my current push involves:
slight incline dumbell press
cable flys (up/lateral/down)
skullcrushers with ezcurl bar
a bunch of different pushups
incline/decline bench 1x per week
light db overhead press
some light db lateral raise
right shoulder is fricked up so barbell range of motion hurts sometimes. working on stabilizing that shoulder before I go heavy
If you want to get better in benching, you need to bench. Close grip and Larsen press are enough variation, plus some sort of tricep isolation like pushdowns. Warm up with bands
anyone on here appreciate a good DIY? I'm trying to make my own wrist roller using a rake handle, rope and carabiner (see pic). do you see any issues? specifically, I want to know if I should trust that screw. maybe the screw will loosen over time and slip out if the wood is soft or something. I think I should drill a hole for it to avoid splitting the wood
I'm heading out to the gym, will look at this thread after and maybe build the equipment tonight. will post results once done. thanks
dont use a rake handle. go to home depot and get a black pipe nipple. check and readily available and way more durable. you can also get it up to 2" which fits plates perfectly.
https://i.imgur.com/s0rVZ30.jpg
What were you going to make? I just finished up painting/padding my leg trainer attachment.
I made this using 1.75 11 gauge square tube. 1" black pipe for the leg supports, and 2" black pipe for the plate holder.
I think the threading will just dig into the hands without providing enough grip and weigh an unnecessary amount. also it just worsens the issue of attaching the rope to the metal/wood stick
I think the threading will just dig into the hands without providing enough grip and weigh an unnecessary amount. also it just worsens the issue of attaching the rope to the metal/wood stick
on second thought, maybe you misunderstood how to use this equipment? the handle/pipe is not made to fit plates, I am supposed to grip it
ive been using my squat rack to do barbell calve raises. works very well. anyone have recommendations for a piece of wood to put under my toes? ive been using some extra tile from a renovation but i have a feeling its going to crack at some point and potentially rip up my feet.

Only thing my home gym is missing are adjustable dumbbells
I wish the good ones weren't so expensive. Ironmasters look awesome though
recently got a cable and pulley from amazon, have loadable dumbbells, the only thing i still want is a GHD
Jews fear the moist lifter
Whats it like doing leg extensions and curls on that bench moist one?
Whats it like doing leg extensions and curls on that bench?
leg extensions and leg curls are fine on it. not sure why the company doesn't sell a leg trainer for that bench. The bench came with the rack and came with preacher curl attachment but their leg trainer attachment wouldnt really work with it and could find a 3rd party one that would work with a 1.75" square down tube (all of them were 2"). With the setup I made I can do extensions, curls, and nordic curls on the bench
My home inspector brain just took a dump looking at this.
>swim workouts included
I have
>powerlifting tier powercage
>2 benches
>2 45lb barbells that can hold 750lbs
>a trap bar (fight me)
>a 35lb Barbell
>an ez Curl bar with about 100lbs of those plates with those small holes
>4 sets of 45lb Olympic plates a set of 35lbs, a set of 25lbs, 3 sets of 10lbs, 2 sets of 5lbs and a set of 2.5lbs
>2 public gym tier dumbbell racks with dumbbells from 5lbs up to 75lbs, and then from there I have 95lb DBs and a pair of 110lb DBs
>battle ropes
>a Sled to push and pull
>gymnastic rings
>a Cable machine (with only one cable) with 100lbs of weight. It gets the job done if you get creative and use it effectively
>a heavybag
>a speed bag
>a double end bag
>a 200lb sandbag
>a 100lb medicine ball
>a 12lb medicine ball
>an ab wheel
>a 20lb Weighted Vest
>4 different resistant bands
>a lifting belt
>a belt with a chain to put weight on
>a Neck Harness for neck work
>a Wrist Roller for forearms
>a pair of fat grips
>a in 3 days I will have a reverse hyper extension machine
I only have power block dumbbells and a bench, is a pullup bar the next best upgrade?
Yes, but get one with a squat rack attached to it
I don't own a home gym but the first thing I'd get is some sort of rack and a barbell. Decent power bar, then whatever cheapest rack that is rated for an appropriate amount of weight, that looks like it's going to be easy to lift safely in.
>Equipment
Moving at end of summer, so putting a pause on getting anything new. But first purchases will be: hybrid bar for mama, WL bar, training bar for kids, more plates, and maybe a single stack

what did gayet op mean by this?
I have a couple of questions, want to get the PR-5000 from rep fitness:
>What rack deep? 30" or 41"
>Safeties, strap or flip down?
And that's it any help is appreciated.
>What rack deep?
imo, doesn't matter too much. I got 43" because I had the space for it
>Safeties, strap or flip down?
I like straps because you can micro adjust by altering height placement from front to back. they are the best for bench. when I'm in position, the bar hits my chest, but as soon as I collapse my arch, the straps catch the bar. If I had pin/pipe or flips, the safeties would be too high to get full ROM or be too low to be useful
If I had an extra $200 to burn, I'd have both and use straps exclusively for bench movements and flips for everything else. avoid pin/pipes though
Thanks for the advice anon gonna order the straps and the 30" one.
Any direction on small-footprint racks that are affordable?
get rid of everything and sleep on the floor of your squat rack. (I'm sure someone will post that pic)
Finally found it
it's not
>The one
Yeah you mean the cluttered one right?
Weights, spinlock, loadable, or another dumbbell, barbell so you can do bench press on the bench. After flooring that's probably enough. Just use what you got on the cable gym machine. If it's got a low pulley those are great for lateral raises, rows, front raises, curls, etc.
Thx anon, barbell and dumbbells are not visible in photo but there
Absolute beginner with only 3 months since I started so still learning a lot
>Do any of you have experience with more compact stuff that you can recommend?
Don't have personal experience with any, but quite a few companies are selling "shorty" bars
>is chink shit good?
no. if you plan on keeping it for life, don't waste your money on inferior products. if you only need it for a few months to get by until you go back to commercial gym, you can make an argument there.
>Marbo Sport
Based. This was a god sent for my lower back.
How to setup this correctly to warm up your lower back? I think im doing something wrong
wtf are you doing with this if you arent warming up your lower back?
Maybe stop pushing your weight with your legs, just focus your mind on your lowerback and try to lift your weight only with these muscles.
I just do 15 minutes of light cardio, before lifting in general to get the blood rolling, and then do a warmup set or two.
But why do you think you're doing them wrong? Do you remember to squeeze your glutes?
Feels like im out of power and im doing only reps with bodyweight and yes I squeeze the glutes
Your dick should be below the edge of the coushion so when you bend your abdomen doesn't touch the bench. I usually do one set of 12-15 to warmen up my back, sometimes when I don't feel deadlifting I do 4 sets instead.
Fellow kiddie mat owner, going strong homie, next time buy 2x25kgs and you'll have enough iron for a long time.
>Fellow kiddie mat owner, going strong homie
Yeah numbers are going up and it's a nice boost to keep going
>next time buy 2x25kgs and you'll have enough iron for a long time.
25s are the only size quite dificult to find so it will be 2x20 to deadlift up to 180kg
where the frick do I find shit?
Any concrete pl5 user here? Are they worth it? Any recommendation on how make them?
>Any concrete pl5 user here?
not me
>Are they worth it?
I guess better than nothing, but I'd just buy rusty used plates first
>Any recommendation on how make them?

seems like you'd be better off just buying used plates. concrete seems like a last resort
this. concrete would have only been necessary during the scamdemic
plates are easily available again

Please help talk me out of buying farmer's walk handles. I'm not a strongman. I can just use dumbbells for loaded carries. But I still want it since it seems it has better stimulus for hypertrophy than using dumbbells.

I've been wanting to set up a gym in a guest bedroom but my dad keeps saying he's afraid of the foundation getting fricked up. I keep telling him a solid platform would prevent this from happening but he isn't buying it. What do?
Remember: Never buy a half-rack if you could have bought a cage instead.
this is good advice
why?
full rack is more versatile
I bought another 2x10 and 2x5 kg plates so i could deadlift up to 145 kg

no moron, its a shit idea. dont get flooring that compresses as you load it with weight
I use 30/31mm (1.2''). That's the standard for home gyms in Germany and you can find a vast amount of second hand stuff.
But i agree that the 25 (1'') and 28mm (1.1'') gays can go frick themselves.

return the power tower for a power rack + dip attachment
Are ezcurl bars a good choice ?I'm trying to build my arms because I have the arms of a 12 y/o japanese girl but i also have the wrists of a 80y/o dart player?
I recently bought one and i love doing ez curls, skull crushers and some forearm work with it.
good job brother are they easy on your wrists ?
Only the forearm curls felt a bit weird at first. It wasn't painful in the wrists but forearms felt like they gonna explode after each light weighted set. I like that.
I like my cheap used one. Currently doing reverse curls, regular ez bar curls with it. Could do french press/skullcrushers, upright row, and many other exercises.
thanks for the help it works great
They are great for curls, upright rows and triceps extensions.
nice thanks gonna hook myself up with one
better to look on FB marketplace or Craigslist. they usually go for ten buckaroos
Guys I live in a basement with a 6.5 foot ceiling height. Does any company sell a mini rack or something?
p sure the popular Amazon rack is shorter than that. there's plenty of them
Thanks guys. Now I just need to learn how to do pullups while while seated lol
squat stands/rack

Absolute b***h to repair if you frick it up
>no squat rack, stands, half rack, or power rack
ehhhhh
4/10
You can make gains but I really like squats, rdl's, barbell and yates rows, etc and I wouldn't be doing that on tile without some protection.
I'm saving to get protections in place, available space is not that much so only added a punching bag and a pull up bar
What else could I add that doesn't use that much space
cozy, looks like Italy.
Absolutely based, clean your basement though
Unfathomably based. Rowing will change your life.
first home jim (*´ω`*)。。。
Why not just get a bigger squat rack and bench instead of separate stands and bench press? Unless you're gonna have multiple people lifting at once, seems like a waste of space
cause i'm broke. each of those only cost about $100
and the cheapest power rack on amazon is like 250
and even cheaper on Craigslist or FB marketplace
What’s your guys thoughts on the Rogue 390C rack?
as long as you can add a bunch of attachments I'd say it's fine
I’m more concerned about space usage
Of course I can see the dimensions just wanna know if anyone else found that it served them well in their home gyms
my only homegym regret is getting a rack that is not 3x3 with 1" holes
other companies (sorinex, stray dog, etc) will have unique attachments rogue doesn't offer, and other companies may not make anything for 5/8" holes. or rogue themselves will only design the attachment for their monster line. yea the rack is slightly more and same for the attachment, but that small amount is negligible when you own it for life.
tl;dr: monster>monster lite
You don't need more than this
I have spent the past 3 months buying fitness equipment. When should I start using it?
now. what did you get even and why aren't there ne pics
I have bought 5 different barbells and 1 dumbell.
I don't have room for a squar rack. Are lunges, bulgarian split squats, and scooby's skateboard squats good enough for quads?
half rack
While assembling my squat rack I cranked the bolts too hard and bent the steel frame a bit. Should I try unbending it or is the damage just cosmetic?

you should have been doing cardio the whole time. if you haven't then 2023 is a great time for cardio too
I'd rather do farmers walks and shit for cardio. Frick anything else.
>walking for cardio
how fat are you?
You do realize you can go pretty fast with a farmers walk, right? It just needs to be light weight. Fricking dyels.
but it's still a walk innit
Obviously you're not sprinting but it's not necessarily leisurely by any means
Lightweight as in 4 u, not b***h weight period

I'm not buying it either. You're just a fat shit who doesn't want to do cardio because he's lazy. Probably also in terrible health.

I got a: Fat Grips, 25 lbs. Steel mace, a Log Bar, a Trampoline, 2x 5/10/15/20/100 lbs. dumbbells, Barbell, Curl Bar, 1x 15/26/35/53 lbs. kettlebells, Ab Wheel, 12 lbs. medicine ball, stability ball, pull-up bar, some ~500 lbs. in weights, a ~110 lbs. anvil, a ~110 lbs. fire hydrant, and a ~135 lbs. tree trunk.
Thoughts?
>tree trunk
batman?
that's not a bad mix. do you compete strongman regional at all? I wouldn't mind having some tombstone/strongman style sandbags or highland equipment to dick around with
>fire hydrant
actual?
This same kind of gym here is public and charges $5 per month
>sandbag

between youtubers that are nothing more than advertisements for overpriced fitness brands and techbro redditors with entirely too much income I am two grand deep and if I'd listened to them it'd be double that
The trick is buying everything used.
I buy 90% of my stuff used.
Lot of words, you sound like your 2k is slower than 6:30
safety squat bar worth the purchase? would be my first specialty bar
Never used one but I always hear it's great for specific exercises(squat, jm press, good mornings).
Whatever you do don't get a super expensive one.
If it was me I would get a cambered swiss bar.
Absolutely. Probably has the most uses out of all specialty bars. Great if you get injured and can't back squat normally, great for all sorts of leg movements.
my rowing machine is in the back right corner. you can literally see it. it's standing up against the wall for storage.
beg pard, totally missed that
i had a hollow bar that could barely hold 100kg, so i just put a steel rod inside and filled that shit with concrete
it seems like it doesnt bend at all anymore so it worked i guess, no clue if im playing with my life everytime i squat/bench heavy
I wanna build a home gym this year, how many pl8s should I get for starters? 2 or maybe 4?
100lbs+ whatever you can lift now.
If you don't know 315lbs or about 150kg should be enough.
Remember, you can always do harder variations of an exercise and more reps before buying more weight(unless you are a powersharter).
Ayo I just wanna let you fine men know that I love you guys, even though we live in different places of this planet, we are all a part of a brotherhood of basement, iron and autism.
love you too brother
So how bout this routine?
>Be poor-gay
>Only have door anchorable 100lbs resistance tube
>Standing chest press 10x50
>Standing rows 10x50
The hellish agonizing searing burn kicks in around rep # 25, then I myo-rep my way to rep # 50 5 reps at a time with 5 second rests between them. I do 10 sets of that for both push & pull. MxWxFxx
>10x50
You're not getting much out of that besides endurance anon
if you're poor get at least a pull up bar (they're really cheap used) and do pushups (can add your band for resistance)
use your band for tricep/bicep isolation too
Slight changes to before but mostly the same, haven't posted it in a while so might as well
goog shit bald dsp
Thanks bro
Love mine and don't think there's anything to really add....upper/lower routine is working great for me
Good shit. What leg extension is that in the back corner?
The rower is still the standard (outside of competitive rowing, where the Rowperfect RP3 is used to train more) but bikes have been around longer, is it better than a spinning bike?
is 5lbs per month a reasonable goal for bench increase?
If you're brand new, too slow.
6'0" 230 skinnyfat shoulderlet chestlet b***h with anterior shoulder rotation
barrel chested
started with a max of 165
trying to hit 2pl8 by the end of the year
is this reasonable?
8 weeks of moderate training should be enough to hit 2 plates for you
Well I'm currently doing push and pull every 3 days so twice a week
I change it up sometimes but my current push involves:
slight incline dumbell press
cable flys (up/lateral/down)
skullcrushers with ezcurl bar
a bunch of different pushups
incline/decline bench 1x per week
light db overhead press
some light db lateral raise
right shoulder is fricked up so barbell range of motion hurts sometimes. working on stabilizing that shoulder before I go heavy
If you want to get better in benching, you need to bench. Close grip and Larsen press are enough variation, plus some sort of tricep isolation like pushdowns. Warm up with bands
Reasonable? Yes. Going to happen? Only time will tell
anyone on here appreciate a good DIY?
I made this using 1.75 11 gauge square tube. 1" black pipe for the leg supports, and 2" black pipe for the plate holder.
I think the threading will just dig into the hands without providing enough grip and weigh an unnecessary amount. also it just worsens the issue of attaching the rope to the metal/wood stick
no just cut off the threaded portion, obviously. and no just drill a hole through it, chamfer it, slide the rope through it and tie a knot....
I don't have any tools for that, but your last point is onto something. I can just drill through the handle and tie it that way
oh ok yeah just drill a hole through the wood if you don't have proper tools for the metal work.
on second thought, maybe you misunderstood how to use this equipment? the handle/pipe is not made to fit plates, I am supposed to grip it
no I get how to use it I just wouldn't make it out of wood because there's no way that would last
looks solid but it looks overcomplicated, no? there are a lot of parts and I don't see how you would attach weight
You can screw the bottom part off, used it for ages now, almost a decade
Get some dumbbells next month
Looking nice
needs more pl8s 2bh
150 kg is almost enough
177kg so plenty for what I’m doing.
are you a girl?
Post body
there's this exercise called "bent over rows"
you should google it sometime
yeah but you aren't able to go as hard on upper back since you are working your entire posterior chain
you should have a rowing machine with varied grips, and also do bent over rowing with barbell and dumbbell variants
ive been using my squat rack to do barbell calve raises. works very well. anyone have recommendations for a piece of wood to put under my toes? ive been using some extra tile from a renovation but i have a feeling its going to crack at some point and potentially rip up my feet.
some people use 10s or 25lbs pl8s
rack recommendations?
how about a price limit dumbass
