Gonna make it / 10
bump
just built pic related today.
>lat pulldown machine is $250
>2x4s for $3.75 at lowes
Used 80lbs concrete for the weight as a start.
a bucket is genius tbh
Thanks. There's so like a 4-5" gap from the top so I can load in more dumbells/bricks for extra weight without spilling it.
>ain't as young as I once was
Those things are just thin tube steel bent in the least necessary geometry to not break.
Wood framing is pretty strong if done right. Also I tested it by hanging on it. 210lbs didn't even flex it, my 80lbs counter weight will be fine.
>>ain't as young as I once was
use good resistance bands for an assist
Tied it, I'd rather just do it this way where there is a consistent weight throughout the movement.
>can't do 5 pull-ups
All of these DIY wooden machines look sketchy as hell to me. Actual equipment is usually made from steel for a reason.
civil eng here. wood is strong af, and definitely strong enough to handle relatively small weights. you can literally make a house out of 2x4s and they will carry a way higher load than what anyone here will ever lat pulldown. i would worry more about how they stick together and stresses in whatever bolts/screws he used
the reason they dont use wood is because many of those machines are mean to be used millions of times, wood will do just fine, but it has a limited life span if it isnt maintained.
>termites? in my gym
>more common than you'd think
jej
Bucket looks like it will break. Before that happens put a concrete anchor like a 3/8" drop in and screw in a threaded eyelet. They will last a long time
once you get to a weight close to your bodyweight, it will lift you up. Then you can switch to single arms or attatch yourself to the floor somehow. Maybe a rope tied to the base frame.
I plan on putting a strap across the floor supports to slide my knees under.
I used a 1/2 eyelet that is embedded about 2" from the bottom of the bucket with a 2" washer. I didn't calculate the pullout strength, but meh, 9" of material above it will hold.
Oh my bad, was phone posting and figured you just tied it onto the handle
the other thing is you can place a lower pulley to do rows
I intend to.
I might even get an old skate board to put under me so I can really get into it.
>old skate board to put under me
you'd have a free rower as well
I think you could have gotten a standard barbell for like $30 and skipped the kettlebell and cable/band bar since you already have so much weight in dumbbells but it's whatevs
Dangerously based but as others have mentioned you could redo the pulleys to have a low and a high attachment point.
I was watching a few of his vids the other night and he really is living the life:
>getting swole with tetanus-tier equipment and concrete weights
>stray dogs and wieners hanging around
>lifting at night with a flabby barrio chick
Anyways nobody ever gives me feedback good or bad on this cable setup but it's been working great.
i thought wood was through the roof these days, or am i not up to speed
yeah, he spent a ton just making a frame to hold his pulleys and baby weights instead of just going outside or repurposing a metal frame
In my area the shittist wood is that cheap. if you dig through the lumber you can find the 1 in 10 that does not have defects.
You nailed it, I should have just used that metal frame I had laying around. Darn it.
Very nice. I would suggest using a canvas construction bag (or two) they use for roping things up if you got the extra money to spend. They are designed for punishment without breaking.
Jesus Christ dude. If I was to invest so much time and resources into something, I'd at least go for the optimal set up and buy a real machine. You're just going to have a nice day with these death traps.
He'll be fine. I would just suggest he use some heavier duty lag bolts to hold it together rather than deck screws. He can add the lag bolts as is.
>Noooo you cant just build your own equipment instead of consoooooming!
Reminds me of the times before I had 20kg plates, my dumbbell weights maxed out at 69kg on the barbell and I had to arrange them disbalanced, so I could use my 20kg and 10kg kettlebells as weights. I'm glad these times are over now.
why wouldn't you just build a simpler setup for pullups, the superior exercise
My guess would be because it's not as fun building that, pull ups are shit for people with shoulder issues, and low roof height is always a problem for pull up set ups.
saved this pic from a previous thread
I like the brake rotor dumb bells. Are those welded together?
Pretty cool, but seems rather unwieldy. How much does a disc weigh?
Some guy living in a 3rd world country who makes weights out of concrete and gym equipment from scrap:

Does the kettlebell ever hurt your balls? Or are you going slow enough to not wack anything?
My ape index is high enough it barely touches my scrote. If I really got some momentum maybe it'd be a problem but this was pretty heavy and slow for me.
Why do u keep posting vids just like in cbt? Its as if u were born in the 60's
Autism and geriatric parents are an awful combo. Also the haters keep me lifting.
What if the bands experience a technical failure and your crush your dick with thay kettle bar as your jerk it violently upwards. I mean, we can already see your below average wiener resting on the kettle balls handle at the top of the lift.
Nice ROM tho, ever get boners with the equipment gently caressing your genitalia constantly?
How did you get those stacked calves? holy shit
Skeleton here. I'm not interested in getting "big", but I want to gain a couple of kilos. Should I go to the gym, or buy some dumbells and stuff and exercise at home?
If you have to ask such a simple question that can be answered by the sticky, just do calisthenics.
Sorry, I don't usually use this board. Thanks for the info.
Np, I didnt mean to sound rude.
those the rep fitness adjustable dumbbells? if so, do you like them?
They're 52.5lb yes4all dumbbells, bands are intey and innstar, bar is innstar. I got memed into buying their home gym thing and the bench is useless for long arms but the bar is decent. Got the DBs for like 65 a piece at Walmart on sale.
anyone who cares enough to Black person rig this kind of stuff is going to make it. i dont have them saved, but recall all those vids of dindus and hindus yolked as fricked lifts poured concrete and rusted car axels
Broke the saw horses and had to order squat stands gonna dig a hole and bury them so they aren't all wobbly one day I'll have a rack and Olympic plates
Literally all you need + weightvest
You fricking preying to mother Mary while fricking pounding out a work out? Does having her pic there increase gains?
how do i squat deep while keeping my weight on my heels, knees behind toes, without feeling like im going to fall on my ass
I had to deload big time I have long femur I was sqauting 100 lbs for a couple weeks until I figured out how to atg and working on my hip mobility and strengthening my core helped alot
deload and work on hamstring and hip flexibility
you gotta be real flexible
Just don't squat deep, there's no need if you're tall
I need a good bench design. Wood or steel - I don't give af. I can weld and do upholstery. I had a shitty one that I let fall apart. I want a better one than I can afford.
Bumping my own post. What do you queers think of this guy's design? I can do this.

1/2
squat rack
2/2
Bench
That's sick anon
Plates are concrete, bar is iron pipe from hardware store. Spent 100 on bench and 100 on squat rack. Gainz o lock anons. WAGMI
