Home sauna

Plenty of you have home gyms but do any of you have a sauna at home? I'm seriously considering buying one. A big barrel for the backyard so I can jump in a cold tub or snow afterwards.

Yeah, hence the comment because the answer is yes or no but how the frick does a small sample size of morons on here going to force your hand about getting a sauna? you're either already convinced or larping for (you)s because you either CAN get a sauna and won't / can't or you can't get a sauna and you're just here cause you're lonely.

You're right, go back to lurking the great threads this board has to offer such as
          >is coffee good for you
          >should I work out legs
          >I lift for 5 minutes a week why don't I look like Arnold
          >my shoulder hurts, diagnose me
If anyone who isn't a Black person has anything to contribute, I would appreciate it.

I live in Estonia so a house isn't a real house without sauna in it. Have 2 houses with saunas + one sauna house on the shore of a pond.

      Same, mate

Just ordered mine from Costco. It's infrared though. It's a 3 person seater and we're putting it in our basement.

The infrared ones don't get as hot from what I've seen but it's still something. They usually top out at 150ish. The ones I'm looking at go 195 max.

My family has 2 but we also live in Finland

Based Fin. Is it wood or electric heat?

I hear the infrared ones are bad for you.
I would love one, that aren't that expensive, but i just can't figure out where to put it. My back yard is comically small

Some 2 seaters are pretty small, look into one of those.

One is electric and one is wood, wood feels way better though tbh

what's the time difference for heating up both of them? are both saunas the same size? what do you think about underground saunas? I've been planning to build a suana, but 1/2 to 3/4 of it is underground like pic related

Unattainable. I don't have anything to inherit and by the time i have enough money to buy a house with space for all that i will be too old to enjoy it.

I rented a cabin that had one of these wood fired barrel saunas and it took almost an entire day to heat up, doesn't really seem practical unless you're feeding it logs 24/7

      >doesn't really seem practical unless you're feeding it logs 24/7

I just throw one wog a day on there and it will keep it heated until I procure my next one

The electric ones I'm looking at say they take around an hour to reach temp. A wood fire one sounds nice because I'm a cheap joo and have a lot of woods on my property. Electric seems easier to use and control though.

My cousin got one for their cabin and its awesome, going into the fricking cold lake then coming out is great
Even if you don't have a lake it would still be worth it if you have the money

I can get an Alaskan cold plunge tub to go with it but that's an extra $2k. It's almost winter so I'll just be able to stand outside after, maybe roll around in the snow a bit.

Anyone that has one, how big is it? 4-6 person seems like a good size to have but realistically it would be 1-2 people most of the time.

I have an infrared sauna and I love it. Compared to a regular sauna, infrared takes up very little space and doesn’t require a dedicated power line.
Regular saunas get hotter which is great if you want to blast yourself with heat. With infrared you typically sit there for 30-45 min and bake slowly.
Finns of course will disagree with me because to them the sauna is like a religion. But for general health purposes mine has been great.

I have an IR sauna and I like it very much. Also makes Finns seethe which is amusing. Very relaxing, pair with a cold bath for optimal BASED-ness.

I've often dreamed about having a home sauna. Would be cool, would you build it outdoors like a shed and then create a wood-fire oven for it? Sounds like a super comfy winter man, I'm all for it.

I love sauna and cold tubs. I've also heard that that they don't improve performance in randomized controlled trials. I've not read the studies, but I beleive it anyway.

Barrel saunas supposedly have shit heat distribution at least from what I’ve heard on Reddit. Get a kit one instead. Cedarbrook Saunas did good work for me they’re based out of WA.

This is mine. Can get it to 220 reliably with an 8 kw heater and a wet towel over the thermostat, but I usually keep it around 200 for the most part. Can’t recommend owning one enough I’m in it every day

Yeah I’ve got one. A prefab cedar pannel one I picked up used for $750 before the pandemic. The heater it came with was crap so I bought another heater used off some guy for $90. Then it was just the wiring (yeah yeah wood fired gays frick off, electric is superior frick wasting an hour managing a fire just to sauna). Mine is 6’ by 6’. The extra space is nice. I am planning. On modifying the benches so it’s one big flat area instead of two levels so I can do stretches and physio in the sauna.
