How accurate is TSH?

I have a TSH of 1 so that means I should be at peak health according to Peat but I have elevated prolactin and elevated adrenals and cortisol. What gives?

Is TSH an accurate measure of thyroid health? Docs won't check my T3, T4 or anything else. I have elevated red blood cell count and a prolactin of 15.5 and insomnia for the past two years so that indicates some sort of stress

I have a very consistent schedule, get sunlight early, don't look at blue light too late and wagie and workout but still feel wired for 48 hours of no rest and even after that my sleep is broken and always less than 8 hours. Clammy pale skin, acne and I have my tongue covered in white shit that I think is candida. My gut health is apparently pretty bad. Belching all the time and had bleeding ulcers in the past and lots of gas. My skin also looks like shit. For diet, skim milk, orange juice fish and meat. Eat natto beans for k2 and bamboo shoots and coconut oil for gut motility. Also carrot salad.

My insomnia feels like the time I used to do long fasts years ago. I had "energy" in a wired way and couldn't sleep and if I could sleep it was broken. But I never had that sleep drive. Now even when I eat I have that fasting wired feeling. Is my liver fricked? I am a healthy weight of 170lbs at 6'1 and can do over 20 pull ups with perfect form so I am not a lardass.

He was correct about most things but veered in charlatanism when he claimed skim milk regenerated a dog's eye

Maybe I'm just still coping because Peat promises immortality or at the very least an escape from entropy and that shit just gets worse as you grow old. With an abundance of energy you can change your genetic destiny

what makes you think he's right? do you believe every single guy with a PhD who talks about nutrition or is there something special about this one?

His nutritional advice seems pretty common sense and alot of what he talked about with regards to Sneed oils. Also epigenetics

He was a nice guy but come on. It's also *another* diet guru trying to get people to pay $50 a day of imported bullshit, per head, to eat or else you're going to die!!! Some of the claims like him claiming he cures cancers with a B vitamin, as if nobody gets b vitamins, are actively dangerous because it will convince at least one guy to forgo real treatment in favor of supplement routines. He definitely did claim he was curing serious illnesses by the way, before it gets deflected to "oh it's just general health."

never heard of this. I have hashimoto syndrome so my TSH acts weird anyway, but I feel completely healthy as long as I take my medication and as I understand I shouldn't have a different life exptectancy than the average person.

I also have hashimoto, verified by high antibodies count. Doctos don't know shit.

To answer OP, TSH and any other bloodwork is accurate, but there's a shit ton of factors that can throw your values off the charts. High TSH? You could be ingesting something that's fricking up your endocrine system and manifests in your thyroid. High cholesterol? it's not the saturated fat in your diett, it's probably a way of your liver has to handle all the crap you are eating

I'll say it again, doctors don't know shit outside of what they learn from books and they'll never bother on doing more research until big pharma vanishes from the ecuation

My TSH is good. My question is do you think you could have abnormal T4 and T3 values despite a good TSH? I'm at my wits end so I am paranoid about everything and went to solve this issue once and for all

Huh. My skin also looks like absolute shit, under-eye circles, look constantly dehydrated etc. and I also have had gastrointestinal problems in the past, belching, farting, palpitations, body heat rising etc.

No idea where to even begin with gut health protocols. My family doctor is a dumb b***h.

I promise we are going to solve this Black persondisease. Do you also have bad insomnia and dry skin and cold hands?

There could be a tumor in your pituitary and adrenals causing too much excretion of cortisol and adrenaline

Blood tests are always a bit hit-or-miss, there are non-invasive, low-risk (if LaTasha doesn't run same needle all day) and will only cause financial burden if you are poor but at the same time they can throw erroneus results (cross-reacing antigens etc.) and red herrings can fool even the better docs. And some people just are built from different blocks than others, a fact that medicine refuses to accept.

            >I tried every sleep med except benzos
I did roughly 12mg of melatonin for one year for N=1 experiment (not sleep issues) and stopped cold turkey without issues.

Interesting. What would you say is the best way to check for cortisol and adrenaline? 24 hr urine test? Salivary cortisol test?

              >Do you also have bad insomnia and dry skin and cold hands?
I wouldn't say I have bad insomnia, but sometimes it is quite unexplained, like last night, but that's generally rare. Took me like an hour to fall asleep rather than 10 minutes. If I something like cornbread or whole wheat bread for dinner, it will frick me up and take 2-3 hours to fall asleep that night, too.

Dry skin for sure, and I have traditionally had blood circulation problems for a long time. It can be 10 degrees C outside but my hands will be freezing regardless. The funny thing is, if I go for a longer-walk outside, 30 minutes in, even when it's still cold, my hands finally start warming up and I don't notice it anymore. Blood circulation takes a long time to heat the hands up.

Also have experienced sweaty/wet feet when wearing certain types of socks, but that one's a big head scratcher. Certain socks I wear I will literally make damp within 30 minutes of wearing them.

Get tested for helicobacteria (urea breath test if possible), it lowers your stomach acid which can totally frick you up badly. For treatment high dose VitC (5-10g daily) for one month might work if antibiotics don't.

Blood test. I am thinking about going back and getting them to test cortisol sand adrenals. I feel like that is the key. Is it worth getting t4 or t3 tested if my tsh is good?

And not trolling. I am near my wit's end at this point. I tried every sleep med except benzos and nothing fukin works I can barely function at this point I am willing to test and consider anything

Interesting you mention this. Ive had some rough constipation lately and I think stems from trouble digesting red meat mainly. I recently had a theory it could be low stomach acid so started supping some ACV which I think helps, but perhaps I should get tested for the helicobacteria. This sounds very plausible. Thanks

TSH of 1 means you're borderline hyperthyroid. Which causes insomnia and elevated heart rate.

That being said, some endo docs I've talked to claim that TSH is not a very accurate test. You can submit the same blood sample to different labs and you'll get a somewhat different result. It also can fluctuate by as muc has 1.5 points for no particular reason.

This is why fasting is the most moronic thing possible, and I say this as someone who fell for the fasting meme, at the end of the day unless ure a landwhale theres no need to fast

It takes years to recover from fasting, make sure you eat plenty of meat to recover. 2x a day and try to avoid low caloric foods like fruits/popcorn/rice cake, etc...
