How Bad Are Steroids?

It seems like the scariest thing with steroids is atherosclerosis, the formation of plaque in the arteries. Atherosclerosis doesn't really go away once you have it. Once the lesions in your arteries start filling up with cholesterol, they can only get bigger. If you get an embolism, you can have a stroke, have a heart attack, limb ischemia that could lead to loss of body parts, et cetera. Through these embolisms, atherosclerosis can take many years and potentially decades off your life. Is any of this wrong?

How bad could I frick myself up if I did a cycle of something like 600mg of test with 30mg dbol for a few months? Are there any safe steroid cycles? Reddit recommends a cycle of 300mg of test for 5 months, but I've been told that would be really moronic cycle, since you're shutting down your HPGA (HPTA) for such a long time, which is a risky gamble, for gains that aren't that impressive. There was a study done in 1996 that showed that men taking 600 mg of test quite literally put on just a little less than twice as much muscle mass as men taking 300 mg. So the gains quite literally doubled. What if I did something like 300 mg of test with 30 mg of dbol? The reason I'm so interested in dbol is because it puts your muscles in a way more anabolic environment. It allows you to get in more volume by placing way more glycogen in your muscles, and it gives you bigger pumps. Bigger pumps stretch out your fascia more, which has an anabolic effect. Dbol was literally invented for recreational use. It was invented to maximize the anabolic effects of testosterone while minimizing all the negatives.

OP types as if he's asking for input on something he doesn't know while simultaneously presenting a bunch of shit he is absolutely wrong about fact. It's like he's lecturing us about 10 different topics as if he knows everything and then asking some bizarre question presupposed on a mountain of moronation. I would not be surprised if he was also a roidtroony who thinks he's got it all figured out, is cycling some stupid shit right now, and the entire post is just some bizarre cope.

I actually started this thread because I want to clear up any misconceptions I have. I want to put on a ton of mass and strength with steroids (without trying to go "pro" or go anywhere near that far) and just look good and lift a ton of weight. It would help me sexually, and it would help with my ego and make me feel safer, simply through being a larger person and physically stronger.

Steroids are fine, you should take them if you want (you will anyways.) You're strategy is wrong though, using powerful drugs at high dosages like that will give you lots of undesirable side effects. You're much better off taking half for longer (better yet, ditch the dbol for a vial of Primobolan or some Anavar) it will get you to the same place in a much more pleasant manner. It may just take an extra month or two.

That's not the point. It looks like the side effects happen with age. Steroid cycles you take in your 20s and 30s will result in you getting health problems associated with old age earlier than you should. You'll have the health of someone in their 60s when you're in your 50s. At least that's what I understand.

        >At least that's what I understand.
The key to life is moderation. With test, start low and monitor your blood work. Have a doctor who knows what you're doing so they order the right kidney and liver tests. Do this and you won't affect your health or lifespan.
Or realistically for OP, if they just want to look shredded, the occasional 20mg/day anavar cycle is enough without getting complicated, but they should still let their doctor know so the right checkups are done every year.

Most likely not that drastic, but I imagine even with smaller cycles in my 20s and 30s, I could end up dying in my 70s instead of my 90s or even 100s.

    Steroid Side Effects
anabolic/androgenic steroids (AAS) are generally regarded as therapeutic drugs with high safety, their use can also be associated with a number of adverse cosmetic, physical, and psychological effects. Many of these side effects are often apparent during therapeutic-use conditions, although their incidence tends to increase profoundly as the dosages reach supratherapeutic ranges.
Virtually everyone that abuses anabolic/androgenic steroids for physique- or performance-enhancing purposes notices some form of adverse effects from their use. According to one study, the exact frequency of tangible side effects in a group of steroid abusers was 96.4%. This shows very clearly that it is far more rare to abuse these drugs and not notice side effects than it is to endure them.
In addition to the side effects that anabolic/androgenic steroids can have on various internal systems, there are others which may not be immediately apparent to the user.
The use of anabolic steroids in supratherapeutic (and often therapeutic) doses can have a number of adverse effects on the cardiovascular system.
This may be noticed in several areas including unfavorable alterations in serum cholesterol, a thickening of ventricular walls, increased blood pressure, and changes in vascular reactivity. In an acute sense these drugs are admittedly very safe. The risk of an otherwise healthy person suffering a heart attack from an isolated steroid cycle is extremely remote. The risk of stroke is also extremely low. When these drugs are abused for long periods, however, their adverse effects on the cardiovascular system are given time to accumulate. An increased chance of early death due to heart attack or stroke is, likewise, a valid risk with long-term steroid abuse.

Anabolic steroids may elevate blood pressure. Studies of bodybuilders taking these drugs in supratherapeutic doses have demonstrated increases in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure readings. Another study measured the average blood pressure reading in a group of steroid users to be 140/85, which was compared to 125/80 in nattys.
Increase blood pressure may be caused by a number of factors, including increased water retention, increased vascular stiffness, and increased hematocrit. Aromatizin or highly estrogenic steroids tend to cause the greatei influences over blood pressure, although elevations cannot be excluded with non-estrogenic anabolic steroids. Blood pressure tends to normalize once anabolic/androgenic steroids have been discontinued.

Anabolic steroids stimulate erythropoiesis (red blood cell production). One potential adverse effect of this is polycythemia, or the overproduction of red blood cells. Polycythemia can be reflected in the hematocrit level, or the percentage of blood volume that is made up of red cells. As the hematocrit rises, so too does the viscosity of the blood. If the blood becomes too thick, its ability to circulate becomes impaired. This can greatly increase the risk of serious thrombic event including embolism and stroke. A high hematocrit level is also an independent risk factor for heart disease.

The normal hematocrit level in men is 40.7 to 50.3%, and in women it is 36.1 to 44.3% (numbers may vary very slightly depending on the source).
For the sake of scale, while a hematocrit of 50% may be normal, a hematocrit of 60% or above is considered critical (life threatening).

Anabolic steroids may produce atrophy (shrinkage) of the testicles. Testosterone is synthesized and secreted by the Leydig cells in the testes. Its release is regulated by the hypothalamic-pituitary-testicular axis, a system that is very sensitive to sex steroids. When anabolic steroids are administered, the HPTA will recognize the elevated hormone levels, and respond by reducing the synthesis of testosterone. If the testes are not given ample stimulation, over time they will atrophy, a process that can involve both a loss of testicular volume and shape.
This atrophy may or may not be obvious to the individual. In some cases, the testes will appear normal even though their functioning is insufficient. In other cases, shrinkage is very apparent. Visible testicular atrophy is one of the most common side effects of steroid abuse, appearing in more than 50% of all anabolic steroid abusers.

This is not a word. Thrombosis is. Anyway, thank you for all these posts. The only negative sides I'm really worried about are the ones that will stick with me after I'm done with the cycles. I don't want to take anything that will shorten my life.
