Exercise hard every day. This is the only way I've ever slept through entire nights without taking Benadryl. Benadryl helps me stay asleep, but it makes me intermittently tired throughout the following day.

Sleep multiples of 90 minutes. Human sleep cycles are about 90 minutes long, with the first 20 minutes being shallow sleep, and the next 70 being deep rem sleep. If you wake up during shallow sleep you'll feel well rested and alert. If you wake up during rem sleep you feel groggy and like garbage. This is why a 15 minute catnap feels better than a 30 minute one. In regards to sleeping at night, don't sleep 8 hours, sleep 6, 7.5 or, 9.
