They need a book to remind themselves what to do, and then to record it when they have done it. It's to prevent them forgetting their routine.
People who have been going to the gym a while have a routine and can remember what it is they need to be doing. Therefore it makes sense that a DYEL would be doing this, because they are beginner. They are however, still trying, so you should leave them alone or offer help on form if they need it.
I'll admit i need it for like a week every meso cycle. Since I change all my main lifts and most of my accessories and have to look at my rep spread to dial in my weight for sets even when I'm going to failure or if get sets that are weirdly high to check my rep tempo. Once I know what to expect I only log irregularities like extra reps, early fails or if for whatever reason I had to substitute a lift.
what a bunch of queers. My phone app not only records my weights, my prs, and routines, it also has a timer to know how long to rest between sets, so I CAN actually distract myself with other things between sets.
Last week I switched to SL 5x5 after a year of doing PPL and stalling.
I carried my small notebook at the gym and took notes of the weights doing 1RM for then subtracting in order to make some order on the weights and get ready for the next workouts.
I leave the cellphone on the locker. Is a distraction.
Got a problem with that? Are you at the gym to lift or checking what other do?
I unironically used to write my progress and routine in a book, in an entire year of lifting I never thought about using my phone instead, it's kind of silly how one forgets phones have a notepad app

You need to make notes if you're doing any form of progression. How are you supposed to remember the weight and reps from last week. It also serves as a benchmark for comparison if doing double progression
>If you can remember, you didnt lift hard enough
What moron tier cope is this? Are you blacking out and fainting after every set or something? Sounds like your CNS is shit-tier
Yep, I'm in the same boat. Trying to get back into a routine and my strength/stamina has decreased massively. Also trying to not ignore abs and cardio this time lul. On top of that, I talked my stepdad into coming and lifting with me and there's certain workouts he simply can't do due to a lifetime of blue collar work, so I'm trying to develop a new routine that we can both do
Too neurotic and low testosterone to just let go and enjoy their workout. Sometimes they’re genuinely afraid of going to the gym and do that as a coping mechanism.
i do this but i work out at home, i write down the weight i used and which sets/reps of which exercise, i have progress from 3 years in one little notebook, i dont show it to anyone.
i got inspired by dorian yates doing it, apparently every other famous bodybuilder does it, all those fitness pajeet apps are garbage and i dont want to look at my phone while working out besides using the stopwatch for rest.
>i got inspired by dorian yates doing it, apparently every other famous bodybuilder does it
Correct
People shitting on it are either DYELs who will never post body, discord troony demotivators or just naive morons who will inevitably claim theyve hit their natty limit at 160lbs because they didn't have a proper program or plan for tracking overload.
Yeah this is a blatant demoralizer thread. Anyone who actually takes their gym progress seriously does this. The cadence of the posts reads like every other spam thread made by the troony discord.
The note taking is whatever, what I am surprised to see is no one shitting on his b***h mittens. If I see you lifting with gloves I immediately think you're a pussy that likes giving out hand jobs.
me too, but with libreoffice, also scripts to import backups from phone apps for diet/lifts and add them to graphs. i will never install myfitnessisraelite or anything else that requires internet on my devices unless its for work or talking to grandma.
I use a little note book because I like tracking my lifts and progress and I take daily notes on my diet. I'm a beginner so I need a little help and planning.
If you can workout and you are able to remember shit, you aren't fatiguing your CNS hard enough.
Little b***h lifting sissy weights.
You have to live it.
If you can't easily remember what Etsy you did last for each exercise then it's probably because it changes workout to workout or week to week, which means your a noob. Once you're intermediate or advanced you know exactly how much your bench press is because you've been stuck at that weight for the last three years.
They don't use steroids.
Needing a book shows you don't have mental capacity to keep track of something simple. Slow brain, slow body.
I kinda have to wonder about this
Its not that hard to keep track of what I was lifting last session

But I want to point and laugh at them
That would be very rude!!!!!!
That is why God cursed you with brown skin

Also forgot to mention, some people are doing this but on their phones, but some guys know a phone will distract them, so they use paper instead

>t. ADHD ridden zoomers
So they are coping with their ADHD quite well if they are removing distractions. What's your excuse being online midday on a Friday?
>t. Nerds using books in the gym
heh heh heh
Post body
I unironically used to write my progress and routine in a book, in an entire year of lifting I never thought about using my phone instead, it's kind of silly how one forgets phones have a notepad app
Ripping the book out of their hands would be helping them.

Hey leave me alone I'm not OP
>one year in
>doing stronglifts
You can go back to whatever strength routine whenever you feel so, buddy.
Do you lift?
You need to make notes if you're doing any form of progression. How are you supposed to remember the weight and reps from last week. It also serves as a benchmark for comparison if doing double progression
Nobody here lifts bro, you're wasting your time.
>How are you supposed to remember the weight and reps from last week.
Use my memory and set/rep patterns
>How are you supposed to remember the weight and reps from last week.
Do you have one of these?
If you can remember, you didnt lift hard enough. Suboptimal as frick. Get a grip homie.
>If you can remember, you didnt lift hard enough

the memory of what I lifted is ingrained when I touch the bar
GRUG NO USE FOR BRIAN

Never seen anyone doing this. Where do you people workout lmao
Planet Fitness
I unironically do. Haven't maxed out the weights yet so I'm staying at the $10/month gym til then.
Too neurotic and low testosterone to just let go and enjoy their workout. Sometimes they’re genuinely afraid of going to the gym and do that as a coping mechanism.
Maybe u just go to a shit dyle gym. All hc bodybuilders in my gym and other huge guys use paper to track their progress.
also post body
I would assume anyone who needs to be this meticulous probably doesn't have the best genetics.
Saw some guy in a hoodie with a full laptop set up. He went on to bench over 2pl8
a few months ago I saw a woman with a laptop as well, she had fricking outlook open. woman was answering emails between sets

The biggest dude in my gym has a journal like that.
>How come every single guy I see doing this shit is dyel?
Not one single person in this thread lifts prior to me entering it.
The note taking is whatever, what I am surprised to see is no one shitting on his b***h mittens. If I see you lifting with gloves I immediately think you're a pussy that likes giving out hand jobs.
Got tired of calluses ripping off when deadlifting with my friend. Now do you want a handjob or not?
i like writing down
it feels comfy
i have a 1300lb total btw
ur fat
cope and seethe
How else am I to track the exact set up on every machine and my reps to beat and any form notes?
all the biggest guys I've ever seen do this, but then again I am quite advanced and go to a serious bodybuilding gym
They spend too much time theorizing far too many movements instead of picking a few, sticking to them and training with real intensity.
i love my excel spreadsheet
me too, but with libreoffice, also scripts to import backups from phone apps for diet/lifts and add them to graphs. i will never install myfitnessisraelite or anything else that requires internet on my devices unless its for work or talking to grandma.
It helps me relax, I fricking hate the gym, but like lifting

>3 years with no progress
ngmi
>doesn't put any effort into tracking
>stuck for three years
Checks out
>LOOK AT ME GIRLS I CAN READ
dude, its not the 1700s anymore
I am still jealous though because I cant read
Post body and height
