Joined a gym this week. I'm knew and wanted to do dumbbell stuff but the weights I wanted were taken. I didnt know where to stand, and felt like people were looking at me or thinking I was looking at them. Its so awkward being there.
How do you guys deal with this? Does it get better with time? I don't have friends to go with either to help
Going to the gym is a lot easier when you know what you are doing. If there really isn't any equipment available which you want to use, then maybe go on a treadmill and walk for a bit to keep warm.
I don't really like the gym though, I now just do calisthenics with a pull up bar at home.
Going with a friend makes it a whole lot more fun, so maybe making some friends is a good first step. That would help you in life generally as well.
Should I really just make friends with some random zoomer lol? I don't want to weird people out
homegym master race always and forever
why im seeing this ugly new yorker garden gnome spammed everywhere?
>Claims to be brazilian
>Butchers Ronaldos name
idk about that one bro
Whats her story? Is she IST famous from the food truck video or is there more to it?
She’s not Brazilian like that anon claimed. If you watch the infamous food truck video with sound, she’s speaking in a normal American accent.
Whoa, brazilians can speak English sometimes?!?!?!?
She doesn’t have a Brazilian accent of any kind.
Whoa brazilians can be fluent in Egnlish!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!
Explain to the folks at home what you seem to think 'fluent' means.
wut du u mean?
You can be fluent in a language while still having an accent, dummy. You used the wrong word. Do better next time.
Having an accent isn't true fluency.
Cringe. You’re wrong and I’m right.
The title of the video says she is Brazilian
Guarantee she was born in America.
Fuck off Carolina
I was right. Eat SHIT, gay.
Is that the same girl?
She looks much older and uglier
Same girl, no accent. I demand an apology from the piece of shit human garbage claiming she’s Brazilian.
She was born in brazil you mong. She straight up says it
Uh huh. Apologize.
Different lens and angle. It's the same girl and I think she still is pretty
post your collection of HER
It absolutely "gets better with time". In a few weeks you'll consider this awkwardness ridiculous. The gym is by far the easiest public space to get comfortable in.
>felt like people were looking at me or thinking I was looking at them.
Yeah, it's important to know where people are in a place where you swing around weights, other than that I assure you that shy DYEL newbies are by far the least interesting segment of the gym population.
thank you this will give me confidence. didnt even go today because I felt so dumb last time
No problem. Also it's absolutely normal to stand around doing nothing at the gym, people do it all the time when they rest between sets or wait for equipment. And there's a very wide range of acceptable "accessory" behaviours people do. Some pace around, some make mean faces at the mirror, some are perfectly still and stare blankly into space, etc. it's all fine.
some sit on the equipment and look at instagram for an hour. totally fine
It sucks when you feel like the only one standing around. Wish my gym was bigger
How do I make benching less stressful? It is always a gamble when I'm close to my limit and sometimes I just don't know if I will be able to get it all the way up.
I don't like asking people to spot me with such a pathetic weight im moving and I feel like I would look like a retard when benching 110lbs with power rack especially when everyone around me benches without any assitance.
Ask for a fucking spot.
No one actually cares what you're doing unless youre being a retard
Watch old brosciencelife vids on YT.
It doesn't matter what you do.
People are looking at you, but the "judging" is inconsequential. They may be watching you to check out a new exercise. They may be checking out your form or weight you're lifting. It doesn't really matter, it isn't malicious.
Just recently, I had a guy stare at me while I was working out. He approach me as I was barbell incline benching. He commented that I was dumbell benching really heavy weight at a good pace, but I was going light on the barbell incline bench, and wondered if there was a specific reason for that. I had a reason, and explained it to him and he thanked me, and now I have a new gym bro.
The point of the blog was to show that I could have gotten insecure at any point of that interaction. He was staring at me and he commented that the weight I was using was light. But most things people do in the gym doesn't have a negative intent behind it. And if they do, fuck em.
I don't know who this woman is or if she's even real but I already feel incredible hatred towards her. There is just something about her face and her nonchalant smile that makes me averse to her on an internal level
She looks like those girls in the "text chat support now" photos except instead of her you get a pajeet who tells you to cycle the power to your house and see if that solves the issue. Maybe that's it? Id still like to damage her vocal cords and anus with my penis. You'd have to be mad not to.
I'd say she looks better than that
Yeah, you're butthurt, we get it. Are you bragging about how butthurt you are?
Lol if this is how you feel about a picture of some random bitch then you are BEYOND fucking pathetic. Your mother wasted time on you.
What the fuck is gym anxiety even? When I was dyel I just decided to go to the gym to no longer be dyel and that's that. If anything being around other people makes me want to push myself more vs working out alone. Insecure gay, OP is.
I have a home gym. When I travel and half to workout in hotel gyms I get anxiety being around normie gym apes grunting, sweating, and heavy breathing. Since I can do what I want, when I want in my *home gym* I'm not used to the general population prison style gym etiquette.
I want your perspective
If there are no benches available, just grab some weights and sit on the opposite end of a bench that's already in use.
Hire a personal trainer for your first sessions (usually, gyms offer discount to newbies). That helps a massive amount.
1. Get a batter waifu
2. Stop being a moron
I love going to the gym knowing all the stacies get wet looking at me
Based head cannon anon. I once saw a chick look over me while she was doing hip thrust and her nipples got hard. Best mire to date.
Simply lie to yourself and one day you will wake up believing it. It's not some esoteric secret knowledge but don't succumb to delusions of grandeur.
That makes sense I suppose. I just find excuses to take 20 min shits etc. when I work out at home so I stopped.
Hey I consider a good shit a part of my workout. If it shows results on the scale I think it's fair game. My watch doesn't have a setting for that though.
I always look at nerd chuds like OP to make them even more insecure. Sometimes I say something about them to my gym bros and we laugh together.
>like teenage girls
You just have to keep going. As awkward as it may be.
that awkwardness is your brains way of motivating you to learn and get huge. better you feel awkward then being completely un-awkward and being that one regular who does meme shit every workout.
