There are other vegan foods out there. If you’re going for protein not having onions sucks. You might be able to find black/white bean tempeh (no onions)
Rice and beans is a good staple. Probably get some protein powder too. Hemp seeds, quinoa, but they aren’t exclusively “proteins”

Keto destroyed my health and made me obese, so I have a personal axe to grind, yes. The thing to understand about keto is that once you're duped into it and start failing, and everybody does, they try to keep you hooked in with myriad of "small fixes" and eternal promise of "two more weeks" after which magic finally should happen. So, if you are duped and believe their core lies and can't see it's bullshit you will get worse and worse all the while getting told you somehow did it wrong no matter what you do. And once you wake up and start asking questions, you get swiftly booted out of their communities. That's the most insidious part about it.

Because I have never claimed to have a great body, so it makes no sense, there's nothing to call out. I also don't do strict plant-based diets. I'm like 80% whole-food plant-based. But I do recommend it.

Both /keto/ and /carnivore/ generals used to be a thing and they are long dead. That wouldn't happen if only one man was against and his actions increased their popularity. Most of the board is anti-keto, get over it.
Now, the two worst things that has come out of current Taubes/Teicholz line of keto narrative talking points are
1) the wide-spread public perception that fat doesn't make you fat and calories don't matter and
2) the accompanying science denial as both their books don't present any evidence of the former but imply it by implying science is bad and corrupt, literal implying implications scheme.
Together those two explain why obesity skyrocketed since 2000's when Taubes started his devil's work. People no longer can lose weight let alone keep it off with sustainable lifestyle changes because what they believe on how to do that is wrong. Wrong instructions in wide circulation.
Unsurprisingly we also now have body positivity and HAES movements building on that as they claim they can't lose weight and are tired of dieting. Well yeah no shit you can't when you ramp up fat consumption in an attempt to lose weight and keep believing fat won't make you fat between stints of restrictive diets feeding you even more fat.
It's a perfect storm of obesity, first leading people to believe falsehoods about weightloss and healthy eating and then locking them in that sorry state after futile weightloss attempts by telling them it's okay to be fat.
