There's plenty of stuff you can find online about this, but here's some high level facts:
Cholesterol in food is not bad for you and doesn't have much impact on HDL and LDL levels. What's really bad is trans fats and saturated fats. Avoid these, they have the biggest effect on your cholesterol levels. Found in the usual enemies for diet: processed foods.
Foods high in fiber, like oatmeal and leafy greens, can lower cholesterol. If they're not part of your diet, then change that.
The biggest factor in cholesterol levels is actually genetics.
That's BS. TRANS fats are bad (it's already in the name)
SATURATED fats are not bad, they're actually GOOD.
What's bad is PUFA (Poly unsaturated fatty acits) found in rape seed oil (again nam is the game here) or sunflower oil
MUFA (Mono unsaturated fatty acids) like virgin olive oil are good again
take your meds you fricking schizo mommy blogger Black person, saturated fat consumption is consistently linked with heart disease and other negative outcomes.
You don't have a fricking clue what you are talking about and have mindrot from listening to Internet grifters
Unironically kys now, because that's what your dietary advice is doing anyway.
>saturated fat consumption is consistently linked with heart disease and other negative outcomes
Why do french have below average rate of heart disease despite higher than average saturated fat consumption?
Why do israelis have above average rate of heart disease despite higher than average unsaturated fat consumption?
Why do indians have above average rate of heart disease despite being the largest vegeterian population in the world?
Because of different genetics. It's the same reason the place I come from is full of ankylosing spondylitis disease but literally unheard of in other places
>Why do french have below average rate of heart disease despite higher than average saturated fat consumption?
French in France eating more saturated fat have higher rate of heart disease than their local peers eating less of that poison. >Why do israelis have above average rate of heart disease despite higher than average unsaturated fat consumption?
Semites in Palestine eating more saturated fat have higher rate of heart disease than their local peers eating less of that poison. >Why do indians have above average rate of heart disease despite being the largest vegeterian population in the world?
Indians in India eating more saturated fat have higher rate of heart disease than their local peers eating less of that poison.
>Why do french have below average rate of heart disease despite higher than average saturated fat consumption?
because they actually exercise and socialize >Why do israelis have above average rate of heart disease despite higher than average unsaturated fat consumption?
because they have free world-class healthcare provided by US taxpayer dollars >Why do indians have above average rate of heart disease despite being the largest vegeterian population in the world?
i don't have an answer for this one
Synthetic trans fats from partial hydrogenation are really bad, but natural trans fats are good. Polyunsaturated (especially heated omega 6) is bad, but monounsaturated and saturated fat (especially stearic acid and MCT's) are good.
Recently had blood work done and got told I had high LDL cholesterol. Dr said to limit fatty meats and dairy consumption.
Also, if you use whey protein, check the nutrition label. I was using Optimum Nutrition and saw it has 55mg cholesterol/serving, switched to a different brand that has none
>Dr said to limit fatty meats and dairy consumption
get ready for the schizos on this board to go full peepeepoopoo on you. i'm old enough to remember when IST understood that chicken breast/brown rice/broccoli was a reasonable meal.
It most likely can
But it might be a thing where it requires a specialized diet & training regime for 2-3 years. Which means it might not get discovered, and its not inherently useful for the people that really need it(50+)
I'm beginning to think cholesterol is like some sort of substance excreted during periods of stress. I've had high, low, in-between cholesterol and I've been on statins and off statins. I'm not sure anyone know anything about it really. Some people say it's terrible, others say it's not related to diet or exercise, people on statins have lower cholesterol but they also still die of heart attacks and strokes. It's a pretty ridiculous thing really. It's be like going to a car mechanic and him saying you need an oil change but meanwhile guys are driving around without oil in their car.
stress increases blood pressure, makes you dumber and more impulsive (sugar binges)
statins are only about 66% successful at preventing a FIRST event, and in my opinion the increased efficacy with more events someone has is more of a reflection of people getting their shit together once they know a drug alone wont save them
There is no point in lowering total or LDL cholesterol. It doesn't improve health. Increasing HDL cholesterol or decreasing remnant cholesterol or decreasing triglycerides does improve health, which can be done through eating fatty fish, improving your overall diet, stopping smoking, losing weight, and exercising. Losing weight can also lower LDL, but the health benefits come from losing weight not from the lower LDL.
Studies on statins show that while do are effective at lowering LDL, they either don't reduce risk of heart disease and stroke or don't reduce all-cause mortality, or when they do show a risk reduction the benefits seems to be independent of LDL (i.e. the statin provides the same benefit if it lowered LDL by a lot or only by a bit, meaning it does something else besides lowering LDL that is the real benefit).
Lowering LDL by reducing saturated fat intake is only beneficial if you're replacing processed junk food with unprocessed food low in saturated fat (vegetables, fruit, complex carbs, lean protein, but no seed oils).
But increasing LDL by increasing saturated fat intake is also beneficial if you're replacing processed junk food with unprocessed food high in saturated fat (meat, dairy, eggs, coconut).
Step one don't seek coherent medical advice on forums or image boards. They see people in need and realize they're susceptible to fad diet propaganda. They don't care about your health and would sooner see you be a Guinea pig for whatever their beliefs are.

you probably have FH (genetically high cholesterol), get on the new drugs called pcsk9 inhibitors they have no side effects and crush your LDL and ApoB
Believing vegetables and grains are healthy is literally the NPC stance. That's the government approved stance.
The things that will increase longevity are high protein animal foods, and are especially important for children but they still feed them slop.

How high is your cholesterol? If you have over 300 TC or over 200 LDL I'd be worried, otherwise it's ok. I have 230 TC and I don't care lol but if it's above 300 I'm taking the pill honestly

No no the trick with eating grapefruit is you don't eat the white skin part of the Inside, you eat the pulp only
Cholesterol is good.

Lose weight, eat vegan, take statins

>plaque buildup cannot be reversed, only slowed
This sounds like bullshit, but all sources seem to say the same thing.

Yes, cortisol increases cholesterol. It also increases glucose, so you can get diabetes. Stress is horrible.
Buckshot to the dome
I drastically lowered mine in the last year and i legit think it was from eating oatmeal for breakfast most days
Eat 5 Oreo cookies a day. Proven to lower cholesterol.

statins, pcsk9 inhibitors
red yeast rice by cholestene
Basically you want monacolin K but the FDA started throwing up a shitstorm that most brands have it (as it mirrors a pharma statin)

Low fat vegan diet
Eat less inflammatory foods. Avoid pesticides and herbicides, toxins contained in vegetables and grains. Unironically eat more eggs.

Eat less sugary foods that will damage the walls of your veins, which cause your body to produce cholesterol to scab over the damage.
How many years does it take for blood vessels to clear up?
If you were once fat and now eat healthy.
Does it ever clear up?
Dying of a heart attack sounds lgood compared to cancer (that's how you die with lower cholesterol)
