I sleep starfish but put my hands behind my head under the pillow
Side sleeping is not bad.
You likely need a better mattress.
A good mattress keeps your spine in alignment no matter the position you sleep in.
But my arm hurts
get a better arm
A firm, high pillow will help (but only on your side). You will likely want a pillow between the knees too.
You need a medium to soft mattress for sleeping on your side. And a hard mattress for sleeping on your back, otherwise your hips and ass sink into the bed and just put your spine in a bad position.
How do you people only have one sleeping position? Before I fall asleep I've probably rotated through front, back, and sides multiple times before I can finally fall asleep.
i do this too, but I always end with sleeping on my stomach with my head turned left, it's the only way I can actually fall asleep.
You're supposed to sleep on your side moron
sleeping on your back is a israeli invention to make sure that you get deprived of oxygen when your brain needs it the most. There's a reason why literally no animal on earth (including great apes) sleep on their backs
>literally no animal on earth (including great apes) sleep on their backs
True
there was a guy that traveled the world learning about the sleep habits of every culture and tribes and concluded that sleeping on your side with an arm under your head is the optimal way
Unironically side sleeping is healthiest.
Back sleeping can cause sleep apnea too.
I can only fall asleep on my side/front otherwise, it's quite annoying sometimes but is what it is.
I dunno how the hell anyone can sleep like that. My hands and arms go numb and tingly with the slightest bit of pressure on them at night and wake me up. Like even if one of my hands is resting on the other, its gonna lose blood flow.
I got a new mattress two weeks ago, and I wake up with a stiff back everytime. It's a harder mattress which was recommended because I'm a whale. Am I going to get used to it?
>tfw sleeping on back and the apnea kicks in
I can fall asleep in less than 30 seconds on my stomach no matter when I go to bed, but a mental block of fear from sleep paralysis prevents me from sleeping on my back. Is it worth relearning how to sleep? I feel no ill effects from my current sleep, and it's nice to be able to fall asleep instantly.
Embrace the sleep paralysis and ascend to astral projection.
Stomach sleeping is fine if you can do it correctly. Same with side sleeping. Back sleeping is actually quite bad. Though with side sleeping you need a pillow of the proper thickness for your spine to align right unless you just use your arm. With stomach sleeping you can't use a pillow at all for the most part unless you're resting part of your head on the edge of it.
Here is what you do, OP: get two pillows. Put one under your head, and put the other one against your face on the side that you normally sleep. Thst way you still have the sensation of something against your face when falling asleep. Otherwise, learn to sleep on your side with the arm that's normally under you outstretched so that it's in front of you.
Back sleeping is moronic you're being trolled.
I slept on a tiny mattress in college (my feet dangled off), which basically required me to corpse mode. Now I'm used to being on my back, and I get much more vivid dreams in that position too.
I still like the pressure on my cheek like you, so I put an arm under my pillow to provide a cradle for my head.
i love sleeping on my side so much
