I just downloaded this game and I’m like 20 minutes into it. Seems pretty good so far.
Been struggling to enjoy video games for a while. Kept trying to go back to skyrim but I can’t play it anymore, too many play throughs and it seems chore like to me.

Hopefully this game fixes that. So far it feels kind of… sluggish in its playability if that makes sense. Like things feel restricted instead of butter smooth the way a souls game would be with combat and maneuverability. Oh well, hopefully it turns out to be great and I learn the mechanics so it’s a non issue.

        Update: this game blows.
        >forced gameplay
I thought it was open world. I thought it would be open world in the same game skyrim was. Even dark souls 3 feels more open and less restricted than this. I wanted to spend time exploring not getting stuck in forced missions and shit with Dutch and his gang. I wanted to do missions as I feel like it, and spend the majority of my time exploring and collecting items and enjoying antics.
        >controls
Shit controls. Combat seems super close to being good and falls short. I enjoy some of it, like how if you land a headshot you get a skyrim esque slomo kill. But it’s largely shitty and seems like a few tweaks could make it near perfect.
Why the frick do I have to walk so fricking slow. I thought in chapter 1 it was because of the snow which I could appreciate, but it’s fricking always. Very gay. And if there’s a 2” pebble or stick on the ground you get caught on it, even while on horseback.
It’s like a shittier GTA which says a lot. GTA at least your weapons all get stored in the wheel. This game? You have a weapon wheel, yet half your shit gets stored on the damn horse.
Some combat feels okay. Obviously it’s not a souls game where you can parry or swing your weapon in any which way and angle. But knife kills aren’t too bad. The gun fighting is okay, but as I said it feels like it could be a lot better. Perhaps if there was a better maneuverability.
        >graphics/immersiveness
It seems all the effort in making this game went into these areas. Okay cool very realistic, most of my shit is stored on the fricking horse and I have to constantly make sure I grab my guns from it, cool I wasn’t hoping for a playable game to destress or anything…
You also have to dress for the weather. Which sounds cool until it’s not. I want to find an outfit I like and just wear it all at times, not start getting heatstroke in 50° weather because my coat is buttoned up…
        >story
The story is okay. Not what I cared about though.

You should play the original. The storyline of the new one is dogshit

I might give it a try. I keep seeing people post nearly exactly what I said in that post, and others defending the game. I’ve never been a huge gamer, as in I find 1 game I enjoy and play that for a long time, but I know what constitutes a good one vs a bad one. And this is not a good one.
And it’s entirely due to how unplayable it is.

What made me hate it was everything you said but most of all having to slowly walk or ride next to a guy while he talks, holy frick just make it a cutscene.

            Anonymous

Anon, I think that was the cut scene. It’s a playable cutscene. How frickin dumb is that? A cut scene you can’t skip OR walk away from to go do something else in the meantime because you have to steer your horse.

Sounds about right for modern games. The only fun I had playing red dead 2 was playing multiplayer with my friends looking for other players with female characters kidnapping them and marrying them. Then lynching them when they tried to escape.

Lmfao that’s about the type of shit I wanted to do. I wanted to mainly play online to be a psychotic cowboy wreaking havoc on the servers getting into crazy antics and just being a massive troll.
I can’t do that when I have to walk slower than a snail everywhere

You sound like a gay and your shit is all moronic
          >I wanted to spend time exploring not getting stuck in forced missions and shit with Dutch and his gang
You can do that, it's not hard to avoid the missions and frick around outside of the snowy mountain area
          >Shit controls. Combat seems super close to being good and falls short. I enjoy some of it, like how if you land a headshot you get a skyrim esque slomo kill. But it’s largely shitty and seems like a few tweaks could make it near perfect.
If you are using auto aim function that makes the game far too easy and makes combat less rewarding. The speed of your character moving is more realistic then being able to strafe like you are rollerblading like most game movement these days. And you can sprint to move faster. I like having to store most of my weapons on the horse it makes more sense then having 30 guns stashed in your butthole and you only need 4 guns anways. Plus you get your full weapon wheel while on your horse as well. The gun play would be better if you could switch your shoulder view like you could in RDR1.
          >You also have to dress for the weather. Which sounds cool until it’s not. I want to find an outfit I like and just wear it all at times, not start getting heatstroke in 50° weather because my coat is buttoned up
You can eat health items like if you cook and season it with mint I believe and that gives you a boost to deal with the weather, and there is also tonics you can drink.
You said you played the souls games so get gud gaygit

Oh cool that’s actually so awesome so my options are change my outfit like it’s Barbie dress up simulator or have to remember to eat my mint seasoned trout every 15 IRL minutes wow that is spectacular and changes everything!
            >You said you played the souls games so get gud gaygit
This game isn’t even hard you sound like every other homosexual overhyping it. It sucks. I immediately turned off auto aim and it’s still easy. It’s not my fault you’re used to sidescrollers and iToddler games so that the first semblance of a real game melts your mind. This isn’t about git gud, this is about a poorly designed game and honestly it’s my own fault for giving Rockstar a higher expectation

            >NOO ITS MORE REALI—

Why shouldn't I wear a fur coat in the swamp? This game bad 🙁

I thought it was a fun, immersive game. And relaxing cowboy shooter. You said earlier you don't even care about the storyline so you are missing out on the main part of the game by not enjoying the story and general ambience. If you want something fast paced and silly then it's not the game for you. Doesn't make it bad you just have shit taste.
              >You know what else is? Going outside and touching grass
Realism in games makes the games more engaging. There's plenty in the game that is far from realistic obviously. But small details add to it.

I said get good in relation to you whining about tiny details in the game. The game isn't poorly designed. It's you being unable to take time to do shit rather then everything tickling your dopamine receptors constantly.

It is kinda sluggish and Rockstar hasn't done a lot to improve that in future games. But it's more of an acquired taste than an inherent flaw imho, it's a fantastic game if you stick with it

unironically...the key to speaking better is listening better. And I don't mean this in a ''take in information better, and you will become smarter'' way. I mean it in a ''when I let people speak and clearly air out their thoughts, develop them and give them the space to spread out a comprehensive view, they are more likely to also allow me to present my thoughts, develop and extend as much as I want.''

So in a roundabout way, the better of an attentive listener you are, the more likely you will be granted the largess to speak at great lengths, and even speak in a speech like manner. It comes with respect in a way, but you sort of have to give to receive in this case.

It's not that some of us are incapable of expanding their thoughts, it's that often the style in which we approach conversation is fast-paced, cut-throat and a race for who gets the most quip in.
next time you want to have the opportunity to speak, try and listen to everything someone has to say first, really let them air out everything, ask leading questions, ask them to develop whatever doubt is there. Once they've reached this state of contentment, or are at peace with what they've spoken, you will get your freedom to do so as well.

I mean, you'll say ''why don't other people listen first, then?''. it's not about a power dynamic at all, sure some people may exploit that and not care about what you have to say. but in the end, you will always meet someone who will instantly see the value in your approach, and reciprocate it, because they are given the space they need (like you do), and will share it in return, just to have it secured.

This has not been my experience, I’ve tried this. And I’ve made conscious efforts to carefully word my side of things or what I have to say and it’s like I’m not even heard or I’m just interrupted. If it’s an argument and I even acknowledge their good points their response is still “poo poo fart sounds diarrhea noises nah uh because uhhh I said so!”

Idk why I’m bothering with you, this is either bait or a clear newbie former redditor tiktok zoomer, but here’s an example
          >blah blah blah and it’s more affordable and it looks cool so that why BMWs are the best cars
          I respond with
          >I see. Affordability is definitely important, you’re right about that, as is actually liking how your vehicle looks, however I like Hondas and Toyotas because generally theyre also affordable while lasting a long time. A well cared for civic will last into 150k++ miles easily, a well maintained tacoma will easily last into 350k++ miles. Plus they offer decent looking cars as well with newer models. Also they’re really good cars to lean out the window and scream slurs at likes and Black folk while you slowly cruise by. You can’t do that while risking it breaking down because it’s a BMW with 80,000 miles
I just don’t get how someone can find an issue with that.

practise on it daily. Speech is a muscle IMO, thats why i record music, do vlogs, sometimes read a book out loud. If you dont practise using your vocal chords, the muscle gets weaker.

Why you stumble is you dont stress the muscles enough.

Ingore what people say, its all moronic shit anyway. You need to speak like someone would need to understand you at first chance and not say what?

Try singing few songs. Then speak.. Thats my best advice.

John Marston smokes a lot of tobacco which improves his speaking and erases his anxiety in high-stress situation. He is also a cowboy who lives like a man and takes risks. If you want to be like him you have to adapt to his American personality, improve your speaking with an accent, and smoke a little bit. You can't act like a badass and not be one

You can also read books which can help you control your conversations with people
