Why do gay people have to shoehorn themselves into everything? Fitness, education, politics, the color spectrum and the financial district. What possesses these biological discrepancies to do this?
In high school I used to put in a dip and spit all day to make weight. I would do it in class with a spit cup and be sneaky about it, but one time I got caught. After that, I tried putting in a dip and just holding my spit in all class. My mouth filled up with spit until my jaw started to ache and tremble and shit. I almost made it, and then with like a minute left in class my jaw gave out and I spewed a whole mouthful of dipspit on the floor. I got in a lot of trouble for that.
The fast weight cutting is literally just starving. If they don't have enough time to starve, they severely dehydrate themselves the days before weigh-in with saunas and shit
My coaches never recommended starving. Obviously calorie deficit if you have some fat to lose. But you don't really change your diet much the week of the weigh in. You obviously don't eat before the weigh in, and make sure you're empty of both shit and food. But that's just like a 18 hour fast. The only thing you really change that week is you hyperhydrate until the last day or two when you cut all the water weight. That way your body is okay getting rid of the water because it's expecting that 2 gallons a day.
Of course everyone does it differently. If you're an absolute pro and you've practiced weight cuts and know how to do it, are working with PTs etc, you can start dehydrating and fasting a bit earlier so you're SUPER dry and starving. But for most people that's unrealistic and doing 24 hours of it is far safer and more fool proof. Less chance of failing or overdoing the cut and performing like shit.
Almost everyone who does a sport is better at cutting than your average vanity lifter. That said I knew a lot of wrestlers with man tiddies in highschool. It's not really an impressive sport below of collegiate level because by then you weeded out most of the people who aren't serious enough about it.

Definitely worth looking into if you are trying to make a certain weight in a certain amount of time, otherwise there isn't as much reason to subject your body to that. Just stick with TDEE -500 calories or whatever or fasting.
